I've worn a holter monitor at least twice a year for as long as I can remember, so I'm definitely no rookie to them- haha. :) Thank you so much for the kind comment. My hope with this video has always been to help others who may be using one of these for the first time- it can be intimidating for sure!

this was so helpful! I just got back from having my monitor placed. It's already itchy, so not looking forward to that. They did give me another hypoallergenic option, another kind of patch to hold it on, so we'll see if I need to change it or not. I'm not looking forward to the next 14 days honestly. Thanks for sharing your journey!

What a great video you’ve made! I’m on week 1 of a 1 month wearing. The issue I have noticed so far is even with the sensor fully charged, after being on for 3 days it says it’s only 40%charged. This will only provide 1 more day until it has to be recharged and the patch changed.

I’m sorry if I missed this in the video - but there is also a version of this that is self contained and doesn’t wirelessly connect to a phone-like device. It doesn’t have any alerts, you just wear it for two weeks, then send it back to get your results. I just wore one.

I wore this same heart monitor last month and had the same issues with it saying it was not firmly connected while I was trying to sleep or while I was driving. It caused more stress and frustration than anything and then one day the phone was vibrating in my pocket and when I looked at it the screen was blue and said “erasing” and then the phone did a factory reset and didn’t come back up with the BioTel app. I was supposed to wear it for thirty days and only ended up wearing it for about ten.

Thanks, Day 3 of 30 for me. It is important to follow directions for putting the patch on as the Nurse in the Dr office just placed the patch on my chest with out any skin prep and was happy. That patch failed after two days and after talking on the help line with the MCOT company restarted following direction in the kit.

  •  2 роки тому +1

Hi, once again. This video was really the first of yours, I saw...
Current holter monitors are quite small and very light.
But I remember times when holter monitors were great and heavy. I don't know exact size or even its producer and type of holter monitor (but I think that if I would see its photo, I would recognize it) I had when I was 14 years old (it was about four years before your birth), but let's say that they were at least three times thicker, about 1,5 times longer and two times wider than current smartphones. And of course, it was supplied by four AA batteries - and it had own keyboard to set patient identification.
And of course, that holter I had in my 14, was more or less "classical type" (it means with five leads with stickers), not like that you showed.
Really, medical equipment is developed very rapidly. Also, cathetrisation via arteria radialis (I called in comment below your video about your cardiac cath) is feature available in few last years (may be not more than ten, but I am not sure).

Thankfully it's not as bad as when I went on my sleep study and there must have been 20+ leads at that point... my doctor said as a good practice, take a photo of the leads when the technologist puts it on so if they fall off, I'll know where to restick them.

For those, like me, who ITCH LIKE MAD because of these or Myzio, tips and tricks I've learned: the area should be clean, but skip the abrasion. It falls off anyway. Skip alcohol if you have very sensitive skin. Just slap it on. Then tape is down with athletic tape on both wings. It works to hold it on much better and you don't have the itching! Extra step that I tried, but don't know if it actually helped: spraying the area with flonase and drying it first. The athletic tape works better in exercise, if you're just way sweatier than others, and showers. Also, the HCOT advantages over MyZio is that MyZoi doesn't give you the placement guide or replacement strips. Also, her complaints about the Bluetooth connection was the same for me.

The only time I had the issue with the monitor screaming at me for the pads not sticking was when I did not use the exfoliation pad, and for some reason, the person who set it up for me did not spend a minute scrubbing my chest, really just enough to cover the area two times. As for the itching, the only time I really struggled with the itching is when I did a clean shave and the hair tried to grow back through the plastic, i had about 10 nasty hair regrowths behind that one. When shaving I make sure to leave a little hair (1mm to 3mm); that seems to reduce itchiness and hair bumps as the hair does not have to find an alternate route when it hits that plastic layer upon regrowth.

Maybe you know by now but I'd be surprised if some of the reasons some people might have interference with the monitor and such is interference from other signals. That's something people don't realize is Bluetooth is a form of digital radio signals. Most electronics interfere or can interfere and that's not including everything else that has a legitimate signal. Technically they say it's not supposed to happen but....lol ...yeah right. I've witnessed this a few times with other things.
Just a idea for anyone having issues. Maybe try turning off unneeded Bluetooths around you.

My E-patch Extended Heart Monitor did not come with a phone or a charger port. Can I ask why one can't sit in a small tub of water. I never liked showers. Only wearing it for 14 days. I guess it doesn't need charging. Can it come off and be put back on. I guess we have to if the sticky wears off of it. First time user of this heart Holter Patch. Why can't we sit in a small tub of water. Like a sits bath. Not a full bath. Being careful not to get it wet.

I think there are several versions of this device. Mine also didn’t come with anything like a phone or charger. I just wore it for two weeks without ever needing to remove or replace the patch and didn’t need to charge it. You can’t immerse it under water because it isn’t fully water proof, it is only splash proof. I’m sure you can take a bath anyway if you are super careful to not ever submerge it or get a lot of water on it.

i think she scrubbed the skin too hard and mine did the disconnecting thing cuz it was too centered and on females our "fat tissues" get in the way so I put a new one a little higher and to my left a tad and works fine now. Also realized I didnt press the adhesive down enough at first. I cant feel it either but I only use the scrubber lightly for like 5 seconds cuz skin is delicate plus the alcohol wipes help and thats how my tech did it.

This video shared my personal experience- I’m glad you did not have any bruising and pain with certain positions! I unfortunately did not have the same experience.
