Hi John, Very well explained, well done. Clever bit of software to align both audio tracks. I like the simplicity of the set up but would probably (definitely!!) forget to switch the audio recorder on!! or the camera, actually both..... I've been enjoying getting out and recording the outdoors wherever I am. Not tourist sights, often following ancient irrigation channels and finding long forgotten hidden things off the beaten track. I have a vague idea of where I'm going but never know quite what I'm going to find so doing the audio is a challenge. Do enjoy researching what I find and posting that on the Instathingy. One day with a bit more time I'll make something out of it. I digress!! Always useful to know what people use to make their videos. What next now? All the best
Yes, fascinating is the right word, I'm truly amazed about what I've been finding, and surprising my wife's family too. A couple of examples. An iron age hillfort. We've driven past it but never knew quite where it was as it's on the other side of the valley. A lovely walk following the acequia (irrigation channel) cut into the side of the valley led me there. Just far enough away from the urban areas to make it peaceful occasionally a shepherd will bring his flock of sheep and goats through. Think I'm ok to open a bottle of wine there, cooking might be a bit risky though!! Cast iron pillars. These can be found in the centre of town an area that was rebuilt end of 19th century. At this time there was a mini industrial revolution with the coming of the railway, trams and sugar factories. This led to opening of several foundries which also made the ironwork for the redevelopment. Today most people will walk past these shops adorned with these pillars without paying any attention. You and your trained eye for detail would spot them straight away I'm sure. You could appreciate the beauty of these places just on their own but finding out what they are and why they are there adds great depth to the story, often I find amazing connections between them. There's a story to be told for sure.@@TweedyMisc
A wonderful, simple setup that produces good results. I'm a bit jealous when I think about that massive backpack I lug around for the pleasure of being able to exercise my biceps with a big camera and a microphone. And no room for a nice bottle of wine!!
I never watch these sort of videos, but on this occasion I did! Well explained and a nifty setup. What next on this new channel? It's a bit like a Tweedy lucky dip where you just don't know what you're going to get. It's quite exciting!
Tweedy does tech? Shut up, I’m watching! Top tip: if you don’t have a clapperboard, pop a cork from a bottle of English Sparkling Cha… oops, sorry. Trademark infringement. Also, if one has an older GoPro, like this one here does, the ‘mediamod’ isn’t compatible (afaik) but there is an equally #NotParticularlyCheap adapter for line in & power in. I attach mine to the GoPro with a bit of Velcro™️. Carry on.
You weren't expecting this were you Barry? Literally anything could happen on this channel! Although I can assure you quite a few things almost certainly won't.
@@TweedyMisc expecting it I was not. I’m now awaiting top tips on cleaning my glass (Pyrex?) casserole dish. Also, the inevitable crossover from/with @wc21productionsunlimited.
It is quite clever isn't it? It was only in May of this year that I bought a standalone audio recorder, so for the first two-and-a-bit years of my time making UA-cam videos I was relying purely on the internal microphone in the GoPro. Hardly anyone ever commented that the audio quality was bad! I get the sense most people watching on UA-cam are more interested in the subject matter than the audio/video quality.
@@TweedyMisc The quality has always been fine, in my opinion . As you say though, the content is of greater importance to most viewers…well, it certainly is to me and others with whom I am acquainted. Nice tech however 👌🏻
Thank you so much for explaining how remotely recorded sound can be synced with video. It has long mystified me. Now I know. 👏👏👍😀

Thanks David! "long forgotten hidden things" sound fascinating to me!

Yes my video/audio equipment is something of an after thought compared to the wine!

Tweedy lucky dip would be a great channel name!

Is it too late to rename this channel? How about "Tweedy Threads"......or "Tweedy Notes"...

That’s just…wow! I still struggle with my old school video making on my mobile 🙂↕️
Thanks Tweedy.
