@@btr152 Definitely the Tupolev Tu-144 had a shorter range and was far from being reliable. That made the difference, apart from cabin noise. I wish she had been a better rival to Concorde and development of both supersonic airliners had been continued in their time. They would have been much better at both economy and ecology by the time they had been retired.
tom west yes the SR-71 is an absolutely beautiful aircraft. And a technical marvel. But I would bear in mind, that it only carried two passengers, a pilot and a reconnaissance officer, who would both be wearing pressurised space suits, and had to pee into a leg bag strapped to their leg, and wore diapers. If you consider that Concorde flight ceiling was 63000 feet, then just imagine an SR-71 flying at 80000 feet, and looking down just 17000 feet below them is an aircraft that could fly 4000 miles without refuelling travelling at the Mac 2.1, with 110 passengers on board, with toilets, in air-conditioned comfort, sipping champagne and eating lobster.. It puts it into perspective just what an incredible achievement both the SR-71 and Concorde were in the 1960s. It's a shame mankind went to sleep for 30 years and stopped dreaming of the future. I think they could have achieved an incredible amount of aeronautical brilliance had there not been economic, oil crisis, and political rows preventing development of new aircraft technologies.
@@RB747domme The Concorde could get up to 58,000 feet at the end of the cruise & cruised at Mach 2.00. That’s about 22000 ft below the SR71 but with passengers in considerable comfort eating the best food & drinking fine wines. Both the RAF & USAF tried to catch is when it was flying out over the Atlantic. They just ran out of fuel. It cruises faster than an F-18 for instance. I agree with everything you write, simply remarkable aircraft , both of them.
It was extremly polluting, extremly noisy, consumed extremly much. It was just a very expensive, uneconomic technical prestige project. When it was being developed then it could be known it would be never refunded.
The first time I boarded a Concorde, with a pal many years ago, when I looked into the cockpit I exclaimed loudly "Holy Sh*t!" ~ I was overcome with the impact of the glorious layout and instrumentation! Never forgot that experience. Whatta plane! Hope it makes a return one day.
Best safety record of all planes - only one came down because of some stuff on the runway! Too bad they don't fly anymore. I hope one day we will get something back like this great Concord!
how wonderful to see all those hi-tech analog instrumentation. during flight the engineer sitting behind the pilots would reach between them to handle some of the controls, made for more personal touches rather than those modern flight management systems. nice to know the Concorde is finally earning a profit charging museum entrance fees
Wow! Just looking at the aircraft and imagining being an electrician trying to sort out a problem. Can you imagine the electrical schematic? LOL Excellent video and thanks for sharing. The analog characteristics of the cockpit do tend to appear antiquated!
The irony is cold. An additional tire to keep tail strike from puncturing the fuel tank...and it was a blown tire that ended up puncturing the fuel tank and bringing an end to a flawless flight record, as well as the plane itself.
Aircraft are undoubtedly the most impressive piece of engineering made by man. And among all times, varieties, shapes and functions Concord was, is and forever will be the most incredible, beautiful and timeless piece of airplane ever made. Aircraft world was surely more poor with its retirement. But it will never disappear from our minds. It will live forever.
Thank you for uploading this marvelous video Demetris! Fascinating and I could easily spend hours going over everything on that flight deck. Concorde was truly the most iconic and beautiful airliner to ever grace the skies and could do what no other aircraft on earth could do, and it remains so to this day. The thinking that went into that aircraft was light years ahead of its time with autothrottle and autoland systems that were far superior even to those found in today’s aircraft. Even though it was an expensive and demanding plane to fly it still had many years of life remaining, without a viable successor in the offing. She should still be at 50K feet and cruising at Mach 2 but instead, a giant step backwards was taken when this marvelous plane was grounded for good. Very sad indeed.
My father worked at British Aerospace. He was lucky enough to have a flight on Concorde and told me that you feel absolutely nothing when you break the sound barrier. The only indication is when you look up and see the speed indicator. He also met Brian Trubshaw who was one of the test pilots and told me he was a really lovely guy.
I am the member of a fortunate generation, born in 1960, and as a kid, constantly presented with the most incredible technology, like the Concord, the XR 71, or the space race, and amazing technology leaps in motor racing as well, like the Lotus 72, or the Porsche 917. Sems as if in the 1960s, and early 1970s there was an acceleration in technology that brought surprises never experienced before, and after that, there was never that kind of shock, and kids born only 10 years later, grew up accustomed to "new tech". I remember that my cousins, five, seven and eight years older than me, liked cowboy movies and choo-choo trains, but my friends and I were treated to cars going at 300 km/h, supersonic airplenes and rockets that flew to the moon.
I was in a school near buy an airport where the Concorde would take off regularly. The teacher would stop talking while the plane was screaming all it could to take off... LOL Good times...
very lucky - I flew on Concorde and when we visted the cockpit - I was seated in the 4th jump seat rt behind the captain - they were still abuzz as the queen mom had celebrated her 80th birthday sitting and chatting with the free for about 30-40 min I was told by the captain amazing aircraft - amazing speed !!!
In a series of videos about the development of the Boeing 777 they talked about the development of the cup holder. Not as easy as I thought it would be . The pilot had to be able to reach it & they had to be sure it wouldn’t leak. Interesting though the effort that went into developing it.

I love hearing older British gentlemen talk. So respectful.
You’ve obviously never been to a football match in England. 😂
He sounds like text to speech
The greatest airplane ever made! Absolutely nothing can be compared.
Rick Fischer I'd pick the 747 over this
If you don't count SR-71 so maybe yes.
Tu-144 can be quite a rival.
@ryo ga silly you. The performance of Tu-144 was comparable or better than Concorde's. Period.

What a marvelous piece of engineering this was. US manufactures could only dream of making something like this back in the day.
valante7 US may not have had an airliner, but we did have the SR 71 BLACKBIRD that cruised at mach 3 + with two engines at 80,000 ft.

That's a pretty bold statement considering the types of aircraft US manufacturers were producing back then.

I'm sorry Dr Jones, but this is one relic that does NOT belong in a museum!
The problem is they are so expensive to maintain, and a special crew to fly them, and they are terrible with fuel lol.
How socialism built it in the 60s
When the past, was the future.
Draviator wtf?

1969: Concorde first flew, 747 first flew, men walked on the Moon. Not a bad year.
More like one the most revolutionary years in recent history
🙋 1969: maybe you are born Ben
Also, I was born that year. So yes, great year :)
Cuz its 19 69 😏
And in 2019 the world shut down 😬 (well 2020 sort of but covid 19 started in 2019)

is there 7 hour version of this? pleeaaase?
No.
It didn't fly seven hours.
Yes please, how many buttons missed in this explanation, I want to know everything
Pilot Explaining can be a great professor. You can listen to him for hours.

The Concorde cockpit is bloody beautiful
Absolutely, thanks for watching.
Ace, all the paint has worn off the levers, white knuckling it every time! Awesome.
Dreamliner for the accountants, brilliant

What a great opportunity you had. I never flew on her but I was able to see her land & take off in August of 1985 @ KDTW. Excellent video footage!

Think its that amazing that the fuselage expands so much due to the heat (ca. 130°C) on the planes outside.
Very interesting, informative and very well put. Really enjoyed it.

Welcome!

Best cockpit tour of Concorde. I think G-BOAC is in best condition of all.
What a machine !!!
One and only!
Thank you - this is an awesome and highly informative video.
flight engineer had the toughest job in that cockpit i guess
Fantastic video...I think my mouth was open all the way through ha ha. loved the way you caught the plane taking off... couldn't resist it Demitris😉
Great work! Nice to hear the discussion about Laker - we flew them years ago. Dad worked for BMA, Brittania and others. Thanks for the video.
Analog, it's simply the most beautiful in an electro-mechanical aeronautical flight experience!
lol sat in the cockpit of the concord and couldn't help but get a shot of a departing aircraft through the window! classic aviator!
Its madness !! How can remember pilots and ingeneers what means each button and clock !! What intelligents !!
Thanks for watching’
After this tour, please book yourself an hour on the official Flight sim at Weybridge. Awesome experience. PS: It flies like a dream !!
Awesome commentary
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out my other cockpit tour videos as well.

Excellent video! Thanks so much for sharing!
My favorite plane 😍😍
The paint stretches. Unreal.
Flight engineer must have to be an absolute genius to work all them switches and knobs.
True! Check out my other cockpit tours in newer aircraft to see the difference ✈️
...veo esta video y siento nostalgia...amo los aviones...
I find it funny how I was planning on going in october yesterday and then you go and upload a video
that was amazing
thank you :)
Thanks for this video!
Awesome!!! Keep up the good work.
Insane machine.
wow, thanks for this interesting video. i like the concorde ;)
Great video. Thank you.
Really cool!! thanks for uploading!!
There's a Concorde at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. You can get on board but no access to the flight deck.
That kinda sucks.

I would love to visit in that

sorry Demetris ...spelled your name wrong...keep sharing your fantastic videos!

Wow thank you for this

itsmegp46 ignore me i misread your comment, thought you said it was the only plane that needed 3 flight crew
Mike Nolan You did not misread it. It is true. Major Airliners developed from the 1980s on up have only a 2 member flight crew.
really cool
Magnifico 🌝👉desde brazil..👉fw109
Amazing video, how did you manage to get access to the flight deck?
nothing interesting, just and old aircraft on parking.
ha
Nothing interesting, just the cockpit of one of the few supersonic passenger jets. heh...
***** just an old garbage
Jeff Marquis I believe 20 Concorde jets were built with 14 entering service.
Thanks for sharing! What's wrong with the right windshield? Seems like it's cracked...
I went there and went on there it's amazing 😉
I went on Saturday and they've started powering up some of the 28 volt DC systems in the cockpit. You can see the video on my channel
several meters from cabin to cockpit. surprised me.
Супер ! +100000000000000000000000

It does :(
concorde is very nice
Back when airline pilots could wear polarized sunglasses
cool you just earned a sub
Aaaaand the video ends right when they were discussing about the Dreamliner
Is the windshield shattered?
Love it
It has some buttons son
I've been on that very Concorde.

How she would handle two engines flameout in right wing VR? Turning to the right?
All commercial airplanes go through an intense certification process. All relevant scenarios are assessed!
any info about rumours for plans on rereleasing the aircraft?
There's tonnes of rumours, the most likely that a group of people plan to bring one back by 2019 for the heritage, so not for actual service
+David Wood oh thanks mate. I thought it was supposed to be reincarnated for commercial flights
I don't think they are bring old one back but I have heard that there brining con concored 2 soon
No the new attempts are hopeless, and will never catch on imo

you think he would have a checklist of stuff to cover and that would be near the top.

did i hear someone of the "vistors" were or is a first officer of thomson air?
yep, the bald one is a first officer on the 757 for thomson if i understood right
X Z Seng his son flys for Thomson 737
