Got this for the components for my DnD games. Which, btw, are great. My daughter arrived at an Inn. In character, she gave the innkeeper (me) a gold piece, and said she would like to pay for a room. It was priceless for me. Now that I know how to play the actual card game, I get to play a game within a game!!!
This game brings back so many wonderful memories! For nostalgia alone, it was an instant buy for me. It was difficult for me to grasp back then, since I was first getting into modern board gaming and D&D, but it was worth the effort to learn. It's also a win that one of my favorite reviewers is bringing this to my attention. All the best!
Used to use this game as a mini game for dnd campaigns but I'd have to explain to the players they couldn't use character specific abilities as it was a game within a game only their coinage counted cause the rogue just wanted to pickpocket everyone. That and people trying to steel cards at the end of the game trying to take souvenirs. Luckily the GM I was helping wanted to buy the deck off of me.

Loved Zee Garcia's explanation! I went through the rule book and wanted to watch a game being played to solidify what I read. Then I started to watch two other clips where they jumped immediately to the splash content (not the basics) and even put out wrong info. Never made it to the end of either one. Well done Zee, and thank you!
Love love love this game. Although, my friends and I play with all three sets (all the cards). Yeah, it might increase the time a bit, but we love all the cards, so we don’t care 😊
We also deal first to whomever won that hand (which I think is in the rules). It doesn’t specify if it’s one at a time or not, so we just have each person draw their two, starting with the winner. That way, if someone has 9 cards already, they know ow to only draw one, etc.

I got 4 kids and wife; this is definitely on the list for the next Game Night.
Just got this for my birthday and really enjoy it. Agree with your gripes about the game too. I'm currently commissioning a 3d model for storage in the box so the lid will fit as that's one of my biggest pet peeves.
Everything is high quality though and the 6/9 came up as my partner and I played and I was like wait you played a 6. Then now we can't unsee it. A simple line underneath would have gone a long way.
Overall very happy with this product and look forward to bringing it into my campaign post lockdown.
Picked this up as soon as you mentioned there was a reprint and that you were a fan. Still need to get it to the table but love the dragon art!
Used to play the original years ago, recently cleared out some games and sold the original version for a good price eBay, didn’t realize it was getting a reprint.
Number flights only net you two ante cards now? Originally, it was ALL the ante cards in the pot, which was admittedly OP, so the Emperor's Gambit expansion reeled it back to just three ante cards. Dropping it to two just makes number flights not worth purposefully building, given that having a bigger deck (using 7 numbers in each suit instead of 6) makes them harder to make than the more rewarding color flights.
Also, the Emperor's Gambit dragon suits are not included! No Earthquake Dragons? No Shadow Dragons? Ugh... I was hoping I could replace my nearly worn-out original sets with this, but I'm just not feeling it now. Thanks for the review, but as an old-school fan, I feel this edition is less than "legendary." Still better than nothing for new players that don't know what they're missing, I suppose.
I love this game EXCEPT for the random cost on forced draw up. I wish it was just a set cost. Have 1 or 0 cards in hand? Pay 3 to draw 2 or pay 5 to draw to full...
I never played thr original, but this version is fantastic, my favorite game of 2019 (out of 30 new to me games)
Played this and poker so much that it got one of my friends sick of wagering games.
At first glance, this seems incredibly luck dependant, EVEN for a card game. A random cost to draw up is just insane, and in addition, noone can stop your luck of the draw with flights because you can ALWAYS basically play what you want (3 same numbers or same colour) and get that crazy bonus.
Added to the wish list.. Card games like this grab my attention
It says to cut the gold down to 8x# of players if you want it to go faster
What about the Giants expansion?
I've owned the "2nd" version for quite some time, but haven't seen it forever. I have no idea what drawer it's in or shelf it's on. I'm going to have to dig it out. Nice little game!
I love how the subtitles say “ Zhi Garcia” . I am guessing they are a distant asian relative of Zee. 😄
Good at 2 players?
The box being difficult to close once you punch everything out is super annoying, but otherwise I really enjoy this.
I put the gold in stacks underneath the plastic tray and then a few platinum on top. Lid closes just fine!
@@fan-i-am I did the same, the box is closed now, but gravity it's not a friend, it is a matter of time for the front coins to go down an open up the box.
Some sort of virtual version could be fun. But it's gambling based so not sure how it'd work if it's an actual free to play game and not real gambling.
Sorry for trolling around but imo : a box 3 times the size of the original = FAIL !
I like it because it allows room for plenty of coins!

Dumb. Why is there cards that makes somebody give you gold? I don’t see that going too well playing in a tavern...
I wish i hadn’t looked this up; I had imagined it was like 3 card poker. Its supposed to be a betting game; not a strong arming game.
