I very much like the song 'I Wonder' that they played at the end. It's very romantic and beautiful, creates many pleasant feelings and evokes the sense of bitter sweetness that one feels when you're in love. Most men in their 30s don't listen to this type of music these days if they even know of its existence. Strange how back then they said it was a more conservative time but the music of the 1960s is more honest, people baring their hearts about how they feel over their beloveds, in most un English fashion as well. People aren't brave like this now. How sad that in 2024 men are encouraged to express themselves in certain ways, but never sincerely and never as these bands of the 1960s did back then.
💚💚💚💚💚ALWAYS LOVED APPLEJACKS
🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢FABULOUS GROUP
They were much more of a rock n roll band than their record releases. Megan is still plonking that old bass. One of my best gigs was with Megan and Roger Hill and Alan Buxton on drums. What a night!
Lead vocal is great!
Great band!
The most hurtful thing about the Applejacks was being cancelled for a recording of a second album. The same fate happened to the Zombies after the release of '' BEGIN HERE '' wherein Decca (UK) dropped them from the label. The irony here is that both debut LP's were so good and I suppose both bands were not marketed well that caused their long players not to chart.I am a giant fan of both groups, but I wish the Applejacks could have shopped for other Labels like CBS, Warner Brothers,Mercury or even yes.......... E.M.I Columbia Magic Notes. They had an excellent vocalist...... Al and a precise bass player ''Meghan '', I have recently purchased the updated and remastered Cd of the AppleJacks from Big Beat,Cherry Red records UK only to find out that they did not remix the original long player from Monaural to Stereo. It is ironic though that Big Beat remixed all the Decca sessions recorded by the Zombies while the Applejacks' stuff remained the same.
The treatment of both bands by DECCA is not surprising, many other bands on the same label (Moody Blues,Them, etc)found themselves frustrated musically due to lack of consideration and restrictions placed on them by shortsighted Rec Management -sad really!
This is great! A very talented group
I love their It's not a game anymore and I'm through
Good R n B & it Rocks and Rolls ------ that´s what I like......
No expensive guitars wonderful
1st ‘Brum beat’ band to have a hit but actually from Solihull 😊👍
Don Gould: Jane Seymour’s brother in law does come from Oulton, if I read correctly. Married to one of Jane’s sisters, Annie. I didn’t know about this until recently.
How could they not do Tell Me When?!!
@Emily Bishop shame 3 little words wasn't bigger..i heard a vile version by engelbert
An enjoyable session. Not quite sure what the 1967 edition of Radio Times is doing in the video, but ne'er mind.
Please more Applejacks bbc or live tape recordings
Tell me when
Amazing upload! Where did you find this?!
I recorded it off the radio in 1964. Yes, I'm that old! I was in the Applejacks support Band The Sherwoods.
Wow! My dad came across you guys when he was on holiday way back, and even had your single. Any chance of a re-release, or a download off itunes?
The Applejacks don't run this site so don't expect a reply.
I was asking Malcolm Drew if The Sherwoods' single was ever going to be released again.
Sorry. Misread your post. I only had one copy of our record which my mother bought because we were in Germany when it was released. Fortunately I searched Ebay a couple of years back and managed to find another one! So my wall display is now able to show both sides of the disc - handy because my name is on the B-Side as composer of that particular song. I think it only sold a few hundred so no chance of a re-release. At least my copies are rare! Thank you so much for your interest. Presumably you've viewed my UA-cam 25m video of The Sherwoods Story.
