These are very reliable watches. I have a Pogue that I have been wearing since June 1976 (almost 47 years). It has been my everyday watch, and it still keeps good time. I enjoyed your review of this watch.
She's in good condition complemented with the best history lesson on this darling piece :) Cheers for sharing my friend and again well done for hitting 80k+ subs!
Beautiful video!! I picked one of these up about 2 years ago and it’s a wonderful timepiece. This video is exactly what people needed to understand the beauty of this piece. All the best!
Great overall review and historical perspective of the 6139 movement. However, this variant is not necessarily found at cheaper prices versus the yellow dial variant. These were produced in smaller numbers compared to the yellow dial variant and are therefore more difficult to source in good condition. Also you are just as likely to find them in franken condition as the Pogue versions. I happen to like both versions and therefore had to own both.
Just to update a bit. I think there are now 2 known Seiko 6139's with January 1969 case backs. I have a blue from March 1969 that is all original and excellent condition. :)
I just recently picked up a December 1971 version in amazing condition. It's my birth year, but wish it was January. Month and year would be really cool.
I found this video interesting and although your knowledge is on a different level to mine, I still really enjoyed it , I am still waiting for the full tutorial of the Casio WV-59 which you showed earlier in the year , thanks and stay safe.
A good & interesting video. Just to say that this variant is actually quite expensive in my experience & good examples with unfaded dials & hands can cost upwards of £750. These also have a better version of the 6139 movement with 21 jewels, the internationally available models like the 6139-6002 only had 17. Cheers
I have a JDM 6139-6030 with 04 serial number, proof dial/waterproof case back, yellow sweep/sub-dial hands, notched case with XXA301 bracelet. Love the watch but rarely gets wrist time. I have cheaper watches that see rotation that I don't mind if they get scratched.
You can still find very early examples (March/April) for reasonable money. Check the two-part sweep hand is present and that the hands are the right colour; they should be almost orange rather than red. Assume all watches are not 100% original unless the item is a 1-owner watch and he has a brilliant memory of the services.
I like the look, how long have seiko 5 series been out. Others review the 5 series, give the impression that the 5 series line was just released. Nonetheless the watch is awesome
Seiko 5 watches have been out for decades. Seiko just recently released a new line of Seiko 5 watches that replaced the Seiko SKX 007 and 009. The new line looks similar but comes in more colors and has less water resistance than the SKX watches. Google Seiko 5 and you should be able to find a lot more info. I love the 4oclock recessed crown that was one of the original 5 attributes.
Seiko's vertical clutch system in theory is superior to lateral or horizontal clutches, but in practice very many of these clutches die and cannot be repaired due to their complexity and small size. So, for me a lateral clutch is much more reliable and better looking too.
It's not complicated... January 10, 1969 Zenith announced the "El Primero" during a Press meeting in Switzerland. The Movado HS360 and the Seiko 6139-6005 were a joint-first automatic chronographs in space as both Gerald Carr and William Pogue wore an automatic chronograph on Skylab-4

Your review of the history and design of the auto chrono was the most clear and succinct I've heard. Thanks!
Me too

Could you imagine a "Seiko 5" having an automatic chronograph today? It's such a luxury now.
Great review as always. Thanks 👍
I love the 6139's. 70's style watch cases are my favorite.
I managed to find a 6139 not only from my birth year, but month too!! Mine was born in November 71..

Really enjoyed this one. That's a beautiful chronograph. Thanks.

Have you done a video about the 6138, and it's history? Great video, thanks!!!

The internal bezel is different as well
Great review. Thanks for sharing. That's a smooth looking watch and obviously very dependable. I would definitely sport that on my wrist.
I love the Coke version of the 6139. I have an earlier PROOF version of the one you show. It’s a fantastic watch.
brilliant review. love your take on this watch. very succinct.

Where did you find this bracelet please ?
Great video and review of the watch workings

Looks good. But what’s with the yellow accented strap? It clashes with the watch
Nice looking watch!! Cool history.
Love that watch. Great video!!
Fantastic watch.... Are these still available to buy.....
Great video
Really enjoyed this video! Nice to see one on a strap as well (which one is that BTW?)
Did you find out?
@@frankdux5693 Nope! Do you know?
@@revnine in fact I think it's the Hirsch Robby with yellow accents
What strap is that?

Please review gn1000 gulfmaster
Nice. I’d be straight in if this or the Pogue were reissued.
Do you have any Citizen chronographs of that era?

Nice Seiko Watch, but intro music is depressive. Could you reviw some original Seiko Marvel (not Lord Marvel) Watch? Thx
😃 ¡Saludos!.
isn't it the model which Bruce Lee owned ?

What is the best crono now from Seiko ? Thanks advance
Do you mean only movement? I think it is Seiko NE88 (vertical clutch, column-wheel too).
❤
Who voted thumbs down? I want names AND addresses!
Nah! The yellow ones better.
