This is Buzz my Event horse. He is a full thoroughbred, untrained and unraced. He loves a run up the field. We took the film from the car and he reached 38pmh (steep uphill).
I’ve done it for a short distance each on a thoroughbred as well as a quarter horse. That was enough to make me appreciate the money put into indoor and outdoor rings! 😂

Wow, what a great video! The beginning is an excellent example, how an excellent rider convinces an unwilling horse to do what she wants him to do: You ask him to enter that field - and he flatly refuses, tells you, that he does not want to, uses some bucks and even an attempterd rear to get away from that gate. But you remain absolutely calm and handle the situation in a perfect way, using his rear power for a swing back and make him jump onto the field. And then he accepts your leadership, still bucking to tell you, that he is not willing to be an easy ride - he definitely asks for a really good rider !!! Later on, when you allow him to race uphill, he is entirely your good boy, grateful that you allow him such a run. Thus you can present yourself in one video as a bronco riding cowgirl and a racing jockey. Well done, Amy - looking forward for more adventures on Buzz!
AmynBuzz123 Re-watching this video and some older ones, I found an old comment from you: "Yes I definitely do like a mischievous horse! one the hack a buck and rear!" This shows that over the years neither he gave up his behaviour nor you changed your affection. This also makes me like your videos.

I saw him switch his leads as well, and for a horse going that fast it's actually relatively easy. You dont even need to use your legs and rein to accidentally switch. Any sort of movement on his back or leaning from side to side will cause a horse to save themselves and switch. In a thoroughbred race, a horse needs to switch his lead 4 times to go around the entire track. They should be on the wrong lead on the straightaway and the right lead going around the turns. A jockey only needs to shift his weight to cause a lead change

Not sure who this young lady is on this horse, but omg, that is completely amazing. Sure I know zilch about horses. But her control and fearless approach to this horse is amazing. I hear the horse thinking, "ok, girl, let's see what you're made of!"
Excellent rider. To me, that's what this video is about. This rider had a no-fear, confident, cool-headed approach that took charge and shared confidence with an unruly, nervous (and talented) horse. Bravo 👏
She’s dead wrong for leaning forward in the saddle and she had her reins behind the saddle horn which is a newbie mistake. She’s got balls, but no brain or proper training
I don't see anything bad on how she handled the situation in the beginning of the video, I think she handled it very well...but I guess everyone is an expert these days, nothing will ever be "the right way" for people...don't worry girl, I think you are great :)
Amy, you and buzz looked like poetry in motion. You're an amazingly fearless young lady. I'm sure it's years of hard work. But to me, I know nothing about riding horses, it's incredible. It looks like this was posted years ago. I hope buzz is doing great and is still up for the exhilarating run!
I'm the same as you when it comes to riding horses. I know next to nothing so I can't experience the full awe of seeing things like this, but this is magnificent nonetheless
You see horses love to run but when they’re run to young like racehorse they frequently break bones and get hurt and die. Horses should only be run as much as they want, beautiful example of what a real happy thoroughbreds
ua-cam.com/video/tTC5yrGX39k/v-deo.html Here’s a short clip of a 12 year old Secretariat just running in his pasture for fun. Sorry about the lame music. It’s from the movie. You can tell that he’s fat and I’m sure if you clocked him, he’s not running very fast, but he’s just running because he still loves to run.
It’s even funner when you’re racing someone. My best friend from the riding club is this eighth grader kid and we often take two pure blood Arabian horses out to this dry sandy riverbed and race like our lives depend on it. So much fun...
As a novice rider myself, anyone moaning about how this girl handles her horse is simply a keyboard jockey... I see bravery, skill and leadership. End of story!
What a beautiful horse! And a great rider. It must've given you an adrenaline rush when galloping that fast. I have only walked trotted and cantered yet. May I ask if you, (or anyone at all) have any tips on how to keep your balance better and longer? I am kind of a newbie at riding, only ridden for almost two years, I think :)
I love that u didn't have any spurs on so that when u were nudging him to go it didn't hurt him at all! U handled that greatly! no pulling or whipping or yelling beautiful! we need more riders like u!
Why is everyone bitching about her pulling on the bit? I mean guys? Of course its bad to pull a horse hard and its painful, but for a great rider, like she is apprently, it's perfectly okay to pull at it lightly, because he was apparently having a small refuse. He stepped backed as he reared, and she used the reins to turn him back to the field. Why the heck would she PULL on the bit? She just used it like its supposed to be used. If the horse was it pain, believe me that a collos like a young thoroughbred wouldnt just go with "i'll be a good boy after a few rears to show my attitude." If he was in bad pain and was uncomfy, he wouldn't even step near that field. She had great control, and sometimes, for young horses with tornados stuffed in them, bit is the last drop that they need to be controled. Not all can get away with hackamore or parelli, let her be. She did a great job.
Thank you! I know this is a year late, but I'm so glad somebody else agrees. I couldn't dream of riding my mare without a bit. She'd kill me! She's testy and loves to find every little crack she can to run away with you. We're still working on her manners, clearly. :/
I know I am late. But seriously I didnt see anything wrong with how she used that bit at all. Like you have to focus and think about so many things... when my horse bucked once I didnt even know what was going on and surely pulled on the reins for a few seconds without even noticing. Things like that happen. And people saying like "abuse" are causing people to be like " I want to learn, but I don't want to make mistakes". So how are they going to learn then? Especially horseback riding. God damn it is hard!
That is so cool! The fastest i went was 36 miles per hour on my Arabian mix mare. We are entering in a fun race in a few weeks and im confident we will do pretty good!
Nice to see she handled his "refusal" firmly and got him going forward. And boy, is he forward! What a gorgeous horse. Of course, Thoroughbreds are the handsomest, and such a joy to see him doing what he was bred to do - run. She sits so quietly on him, never moves, nice rider. They should be a dynamite team.

Soon as I saw Buzz acting up and napping in front of that gate - I thought of my old livery yard turnout field where the earth in the gateway had worn down so much that the transfer cable to the electric fence had damaged insulation so much so that most horses had some kind of shock. Most of the liveries came up with fabulous reasons for all the baulking going on - ghosts in the wood pile, aliens and dodgy horoscopes - all cured by a few metres of garden hose. I've been around all sorts of horses for over sixty years and still love to see videos like this one. A good example of sensitive riding! Good use of free reins - no thrashings or boots in the ribs ( I'll even forgive the slight leg swish in the circumstances as Eventing is a long way from Dressage haut l'ecole !) Big temptation to gallop a capable horse - even the untrained know how it's done! A few can do it backwards. Keep on keeping on and post some more as your training continues.
Great control when the horse bucked :) you didn’t hit him at all, which is what many riders would’ve done :( He looked so happy while galloping, and it was very satisfying to watch as well :) great vid!
Cool vid, but when he was hesitant about walking on to the grass it might of helped if you were looking up instead of at it, like jumping. But idk your horse so😝
I don't think he s bucking and protesting because he doesn't want to go, she s wanking on his face while kicking him to go! (0:02) Poor horse! He's confuse and rightly so...Its a good horsy with an inexperience rider. Pretty sure he doesn't need any of those shanks on the bite tbh... smh.
He was upset because he had to cross a ditch. Most horses hate ditches. She remained calm and didn’t use a ton of heavy kicking. Just firm reinforcement with her leg after she asked him gently. She is clearly a very experienced rider
I have a question, if I may: I know nothing about horses and I often watch horse videos and sometimes it looks like the horse isn't comfortable, happy, or a true partnership--the horse is being made to do something. How can I tell when a horse is happy and not feel bad about watching the video. Like I said, I know next to nothing about horses...never been around them, rode one, etc. When it seems like this--a horse in their own element and nature--that is what I appreciate. I don't like watching the formal events, etc. Thanks, Jen

i love how with thoroughbreds bucks and rears are a casual part of your ride
This girl has mad riding skills. And courage.
He thicc
I absolutely love how soft your hands and leg aids are! you did fantastic with him :)
Natural beauty from head to tail. Thank you, God, for this creature.
I know I'm quite early but wanted you to know I think about you all the time! Love you! Cindy J was me (70 years old!)
When you’re running a Thoroughbred in an English saddle do you have to keep your body off the saddle when the horse is galloping?
Yes, to allow the horse to move freely underneath you without hindrance
Wow! He is soooooo fast and that looks so much fun! I am too scared to gallop my ex racer hahaha I am scared he wont stop hahaha
Heather Currell Naww.. youll get the confidance sometime! its great fun....if you cant stop, go round in a circle. They wont get very far haha!
Yeah thanks ☺
I used to own a full thoroughbred mare, she was a racehorse before she got to old, she was a great horse and I loved to run her like that!
Not sure who this young lady is on this horse, but omg, that is completely amazing. Sure I know zilch about horses. But her control and fearless approach to this horse is amazing. I hear the horse thinking, "ok, girl, let's see what you're made of!"
I'm always worried about the legs breaking... (like at Melbourne Cup)
I think most of the views are from me lol 😂😂
Go in there. Nope! Get in there. Nope!! GET in THERE! NOOOO! Oh all right then... Buck buck bucking as I go :)
You see horses love to run but when they’re run to young like racehorse they frequently break bones and get hurt and die. Horses should only be run as much as they want, beautiful example of what a real happy thoroughbreds

Here’s a short clip of a 12 year old Secretariat just running in his pasture for fun.
It goes to show that thoroughbreds really are born to run.
@@troncat3715 Okay, thanks :)
The most natual exhilarating feeling in the world!!!! ❤
I love that u didn't have any spurs on so that when u were nudging him to go it didn't hurt him at all! U handled that greatly! no pulling or whipping or yelling beautiful! we need more riders like u!
Spurs are a training aid, not an automatic indicator of abuse. She did indeed handle the shying away at the beginning very well, though.
She did so well with him in the beginning people are just jealous
He’s beautiful and is really stretching out. Glad there wasn’t a groundhog hole!
Jesus i searched him in entire New Hanover , didn't knew that he was here all time in West Elizabeth....
Amynbuzz123, is this chapter 3 or 4 ?
xdd
Yee haa!!!!!!
Cowboy Atwal wtf
Well said!
Thank you! I know this is a year late, but I'm so glad somebody else agrees. I couldn't dream of riding my mare without a bit. She'd kill me! She's testy and loves to find every little crack she can to run away with you. We're still working on her manners, clearly. :/
She wasn't hauling on him. Good grief.

Horses, Mules Donkeys, are Wonderful just standing there, when you see them in Motion...... Incredible
According to Equilab with did 35kph in snowy roads yesterday. That was fun! ❄❄
This is beautiful, I know there are faster horses but to capture this on film is a great thing...
That is so cool! The fastest i went was 36 miles per hour on my Arabian mix mare. We are entering in a fun race in a few weeks and im confident we will do pretty good!
Good luck, have fun!
Incredible....I own my shit- could not do this. I overthink everything. But enjoy watching. Nice canter for me would do😊

I like how the legs rythm as horses gallop and hey I was wondering for how long can they maintain a gallop
Two to 3 miles is about the maximum distance for a well-conditioned horse can maintain a top speed
The beginning really cements in that that’s in fact a thoroughbred 🤪
Wow. It looks like that thouroughbred really wanted to gallop
i wish youtube put a repeat button! that was so awesome the pole flying by make the horse look like he going like mach 1
Thank you
Right click and it'll loop, even though thats not what your asking XD
thanks, didnt even know youtube has the feature
Wow it looks faster as it is... Well done. Nice sitzing
Good use of free reins - no thrashings or boots in the ribs ( I'll even forgive the slight leg swish in the circumstances as Eventing is a long way from Dressage haut l'ecole !)
Big temptation to gallop a capable horse - even the untrained know how it's done!
But idk your horse so😝
Haha thanks, there's a small ditch (hence he jumped onto the grass) and i was looking at where the less mushy bit was. Thanks thought :)
“He loves a run up the field!”
As he bucks and protests when she kicks him to go.
@@hayleymarse2853 yea and there was water in the ditch and all equestrians know how much horses hate water lol
And don't forget horses can run faster without tack or a rider.
HORSES ROCK MAN!
Lovely. Typical thoroughbred though, dancing around when it either doesn’t want to do something or it’s unsure of something.

Beautiful! You are reliving one of the flicka movies My Friend flicka with Roddy McDowell. they had a scene like that
Wow, what a beautiful horse!!
Thanks, Jen
