I too bought the album Bonk and I still play the vinyl I have and enjoy it just as much as the first time I heard it who says you can't rock without guitars in a bass
I had the pleasure of seeing Big Pig support the INXS KICK tour at Wembley Arena, London. They looked just like this and the drumming 🥁 was amazing. ✌️ ♥ Levent 🦁
I remember the first time I heard big pig. On a total chance, I bought their album Bonk. I ended up going through three copies, wearing out each tape I bought I listened to it it so many times. Sad that they came and went so fast.
Chorus of this is reminds me of the verse of "He's gonna step on you again", made famous (in Australia at least) by the Party Boys about a year later (but the song was written in the 1970s).
Do you have the EP version. There was 4 songs on the EP. I've never been able to find it again. It was deleted from the catalogue. It had a version of Devils Song thats no longer available
saw them at Brixton Academy in '88 and took ten of my friends from Pinot's Wine Bar in Hampstead - almost no-one had heard of them- we danced all the way home
I loved Big Pig, but ultimately they discarded the thing that made them unique (the multiple drum kits) and in time just became another dance music band.
I mean the music amazing serum but this other guy has stop!! too bad they didn't need current lead singer for all songs that would have been bigger music industry back then
This song sounded exactly like another song to me. Just faster. By the time the chorus comes along, all I can hear is Dolly Parton singing "Workin 9 to 5. What a way to make a livin". 😂🤷♂️
Check your privilege. Could it be....they weren't homophobic at all, just had a different way of expressing themselves to you? I was also there - (hence me checking this awesome vid out so many years later) - and I got there on a motor bike, dressed in.... what I was wearing after work. That your yardstick? Accepting homosexuality does NOT mean we all go mincing down Oxford Street.
The lyrics start with: "Well let me tell you a story of Hungry Town Where the men love men and women kiss the ground" The whole setup of the song is that a town where men love men is one without food. Yeah that's kinda crazy but that's what it is.
+Richard Werkhoven fuck me , with all going on in the world , killing , beheading , sex slavery , yazidis and christians enslaved , etc eyc etc you worry about a perceived slight against guys who like to have sex with other guys , grow up
Seriously underrated album and band...great album, not a bad track on it...biggest sound, no guitars!
I remember buying their album when our ship (US Navy) stopped in Perth in ‘95. Great album.
Big Pig songs ages well. They had a great sound. Good stuff.
I too bought the album Bonk and I still play the vinyl I have and enjoy it just as much as the first time I heard it who says you can't rock without guitars in a bass
Whatever happened to these guys - and this whole genre? Seems too frickin marvellous to have just faded away. Awesome.
I had the pleasure of seeing Big Pig support the INXS KICK tour at Wembley Arena, London. They looked just like this and the drumming 🥁 was amazing. ✌️ ♥ Levent 🦁
man that wouldnt been huge..BP supporting INXS kick. some ageless music right there.
Takes me back to the Sydney Cove Tavern in 86. Big sound, lots of fun!
I remember the first time I heard big pig. On a total chance, I bought their album Bonk. I ended up going through three copies, wearing out each tape I bought I listened to it it so many times. Sad that they came and went so fast.
I hear you. I went vinyl, taped it - and wore a lot of tape out! Still have the almost-pristine vinyl, and... the album still stands well!
Very expensive to tour and make any money from a big band. 8 members? they can only charge the same as a 3 piece band.
Thank goodness for these postings! My tapes wore out long long ago...recently rediscover and still my favorite band today!!🤎
Tapes! I remember winding up endless ribbon too. And I like Big Pig
I think the whole album still ends up in my queue once a year; aged incredibly well, baffling that some of those songs never hit the top 40.
Great music,to bad big pig broke up in 91,the female singer has a great voice .
They probably cut ties
Absolutely sensational in every way!!! Just brilliant!!!!!
I remember watching them live in Darlinghurst back in the 80s. Great album.
Same, but I can't ever work out where it was. lol Somewhere down closer to Woolloomooloo I think. it continues to stump me :)
@@mattpye2497 from memory it was in a club called the “Hip Hop Club”.
I saw them play at the Trade Union Club in Foveaux St in /surry Hils
Ok, 2020 pandemic blabla. How come this band didn't have more success????
Such an awesome sound and band. Still love this album.
This sounds so much like 80's buddy cop action comedy movie chase scene. Love it.
i can remember when this song first came out wow and many years on and still love this song and band
:)
bonk! is still a fave album of mine.
Chorus of this is reminds me of the verse of "He's gonna step on you again", made famous (in Australia at least) by the Party Boys about a year later (but the song was written in the 1970s).
saw Big Pig at the mighty Metro years ago .. brilliance
Ahhh the 80's what a decade
Brings back so many memories for me love this band! Sherine on vocals is sooo hot!
Good tune! Should’ve been a hit here in the States.
Can we just appreciate the two drummers as well😂👌
Saw them live at Wembley Arena supporting INXS in 1990. Pretty sure they had 3 drum kits. The sound was phenomenal!
That explains the full drum sound... 🤷♂️ How did I not realise for all these years.
Two? The whole band is percussion except harmonica and vocals ;)
I've got the 12" of this!
Do you have the EP version. There was 4 songs on the EP. I've never been able to find it again. It was deleted from the catalogue. It had a version of Devils Song thats no longer available
This is what musicians and music sound like . unlike 2020
Released on my birthday, what an amazing year you are all so lucky 😏
What an amazing song...............love it
Its fucking shit !
OI you this is talent in full effect!!
For me it was The Manly Vale Hotel in the winter of '89.
Awesome song.
Still here for this in 2020!
I loved this Band. I wish I had been able to see them perform live. They came and went too damn fast. Loved thier Album, still have it.
I saw them live on the Gold Coast way back then...
Nice!
saw them at Brixton Academy in '88 and took ten of my friends from Pinot's Wine Bar in Hampstead - almost no-one had heard of them- we danced all the way home
I was fortunate enough to see them live, here in the UK, when they supported INXS.
I saw them a few times in Sydney way-back-when. Best show was at the old Entertainment Centre with Boom Crash Opera, Noiseworks & Icehouse.
Just passing through 😎
Fucking brilliant! Viva the 80´s
Still loving this song in 2021!
Ditto!
Great fun band, saw them twice. At LeRox in Adelaide and the Middle Park Hotel Melbourne. powerful bass lines.
Me too, loved Le Rox, Do Re Mi were regulars as well, loved the chill out room
Did you ever catch the Uncanny X men?
@@Eskay1206 In Bendigo one night, Brian Mannix put on a good show. Live music was huge in Bendigo then.
Le Rox. Aaaah memories
Album on 300watt base speakers in my brothers car....could hear him coming 2km away.
I used to play Bonk a lot while I was bonking
I forgot how good these guys were🤸🤸🎶
Love this when it came out and still love it today what Fun Fun Fun.
remember seeing them live at the JIndabyne hotel great music
I loved Big Pig, but ultimately they discarded the thing that made them unique (the multiple drum kits) and in time just became another dance music band.
They kept the Leather Aprons!! They were/are unique :)
Critics: "You can't have a band without a guitar!"
Big Pig: "Observe..."
Loved them. Still play BONK.
Sherrine was a spunk
Love Me Some Big Pig --- WooooSahhhhhh
Under rated
I remembered this song from watching "Young Einstein" as a child.
+Joanne Mitchell Me 2 :) Great movie...

I sure these guys support Inxs. Bought the album the next day.
ENERGY!!!
I remember when the song came out and I always wanted to see them live, but it never happened .... just another regret.
✌️❤️
I was 19
It's funny how your parents sounds rub off on ya, I'm 39 and love ol school
YESSS !!
✌✌👍👍👍💕
Can someone confirm if diet coke used this song in their advert circa 1990?
One of about 7 really cool Bands from NZ at the time :)
Mate there no kiwi in any of them they are Aussies and poms!
Melbourne, not NZ
Nice try typical new Zealander with a chip on their shoulder ...haha it gets old
You are ignorant
love this album u cant get it in the USA anymore
Camo here, what about lizard train, nude on fire?,I was there kinda roadie in 87.lol
Should have used this song in ...face the music
Tight ensemble.
good album, the groups name was not the best to choose for travel the world and show their music (my opinion)
shes has an amazing voice! should have had just her sing and wrote songs around her voice
I mean the music amazing serum but this other guy has stop!! too bad they didn't need current lead singer for all songs that would have been bigger music industry back then
Scean lyonz That's disgusting. You're insulting the band. In case you forgot it's a team effort so don't treat the others like they're nothing 😡
You are stupid Scean
Reminds me of a Diddy Kong Racing level
It's a good thing only BallBoxes BoxBalls can exist 🌐🕋💢🕋🌐
its ok
This is about cannibal human beings that don't want to eat their dead mates!
we may be CANNIBALS but we have a code !!
No offence to INXS, but really?
sexy-as-fuck band
This song sounded exactly like another song to me. Just faster. By the time the chorus comes along, all I can hear is Dolly Parton singing "Workin 9 to 5. What a way to make a livin". 😂🤷♂️
the blonde guy in front looks like Bart Simpson
Nick Launey; See also Midnight Oil, "Red Sails in the Sunset."
big pig very tasty bacon
an awesome band live also
Square-dancing in steroids...lol
ยุเม
Anyone else notice the chorus sounds like love runs out?
Listen to Big Pig's Breakaway. Even more similar. Always loved this great NZ band.
Silly me. Just checked my facts. Always thought the band was NZ but is said to be a Aussie band.
That's the song that reminded me of this song! haha
Big Pig: Hipsters before it was cool.
I'm sorry to say it again but this other singers her f****** atrocious but this girl singer is absolutely amazing!!
Yer not sorry. Dickweed
Watched Big Pig at the Epping Hotel ?back in the 80s. A challenging gig with a homophobic audience who were all cheering by the end.
+Bella Bubble ...was at the same Gig , awesome on stage
Check your privilege. Could it be....they weren't homophobic at all, just had a different way of expressing themselves to you? @@petercallaghan9851 So you are suggesting I'm misunderstanding the song now?
I hope you are right.
Great song - pity about the homophobia though.
please explain
The lyrics start with:
"Well let me tell you a story of Hungry Town
Where the men love men and women kiss the ground"
The whole setup of the song is that a town where men love men is one without food.
Yeah that's kinda crazy but that's what it is.
all that homophobia and the song still went top 10 .. now I'm hungry
BTW I bought the Album at the time.
It'd be interesting to ask them what were they thinking when they wrote this and do they still think the same.
+Richard Werkhoven fuck me , with all going on in the world , killing , beheading , sex slavery , yazidis and christians enslaved , etc eyc etc you worry about a perceived slight against guys who like to have sex with other guys , grow up
BIG SUCKS !!!
But unlike you, they don't swallow.
