I got on great with my Negcon back in the day.. and while am currently really enjoying Virtua Racing on the Switch find myself hankering for a decent handheld controller. Like the Negcon!!!
Hmmm, the NeGcon on the Switch shouldn't be hard to accomplish. I have yet to get a Switch, but hopefully will get one this year and try playing Virtua Racing :)
This is great news (thankyou for your work!) I've been struggling using a macro controller for Omega collection that just basically leaves me needing to use the d-pad and while the best option I had I've been yearning for something as good as the NeGcon i used to use for the PS1 wipeouts. Hopefully I can get hold of one when I get a little cash and these other parts to make it work. I for one really appreciate the work you've put into this as it really was a special racing controller!

I suppose there is no way to play any games in Jogcon mode with force feedback on other consoles?... Also, check out the Star Wars Racer controller mod I did on my channel. I'm sure you'll appreciate that one... ^^
The Jogcon can work on other consoles with adapters, but not with active force feedback, unfortunately. I checked out your channel and watched that video you mentioned. That is incredibly awesome. If you buy a used one, make sure it comes with the official mini-USB cable so it can be properly connected to your PC. Also be aware that some Cronusmax Plus adapters on Ebay are actually not what they claim to be- they are older versions (ie. Original or the 2nd version of Cronusmax). Make sure the one you get looks exactly like mine.
I recently found out how to do it- the JogCon actually has 2 modes and one is a NeGcon mode. On the PS1 it is accessed by pressing and holding the mode button before the console is powered up- keep holding it until the game boots up, and then when you release the button the red light will be blinking. That blinking light is the NeGcon mode indicator. When it comes to using it with the CronusMax Plus, you press and hold the mode button when you first get it plugged in. Once it's plugged into the CM+ the blinking light will occur on the controller and you can release the mode button. It'll now work in NeGcon mode. Let me know how you do with a JogCon on Forza 7.

@@wiredupretro TY for the speedy response. I had a feeling that you may say that. I managed to find the adapter you suggested. For about 2years or so I attempt to use my adapter & try to figure a way to use my NeGcon controller on my PS3 to play some old games for the 1st time. For some reason the PS2 runs the NeGcon fine playing Wipeout. It never crossed my mind that I needed a script or someone had written a program which allows me to make it work such a long time ago. I don't see the PIII & PC Controller Convertor listed on eBay, but some of the Radio Shack adapters still turn up. If I were to get a NeGCon and use the Radio Shack adapter to connect it to the USB port of a computer, would all of the buttons and functions register, so that they can be mapped in an emulator or a game running in Windows?
The left and right twisting works properly. A and B map to PC button 2. The I and II buttons map to left stick up and down (analog response). Not sure about the shoulder buttons... Edit: L does have a Z-axis analog response on PC applications.
@@wiredupretro I'm most concerned with the twist function for steering. If all of the other buttons register in at least some capacity, be it analog or digital, I can make do. I was playing some PS1 racing game that only supported digital control and the NeGCon. ePSXe has a controller setting to emulate the NeGCon, so I mapped the functions to my Dual Shock, with the thumbstick standing in for the twist function. It worked, and was better than steering with just digital controls, but I imagine that an actual NeGCon would be even better.

What I would really like is just something that will let PS1 and PS3 to work on PS4
CronusZen has compatibility with the GPC scripts that I showed working in this video. If you don't want CronusZen, then you can get a CronusMax Plus from Ebay or another web source. I've noticed the higher prices lately, and that's a bit of a disappointment. If you want a PS3 to PS4 controller adapter that doesn't necessarily work with the NeGcon, I'd suggest the one made by Brook. A good racing controller that is compatible with that is the PS3 HKS Racing controller, and I'd suggest trying it with the PS4 racing game, Dirt Rally or its sequel.
I can't say it will work for sure, but can't think of any reasons it wouldn't. If it does not work with it, I'm sure there's going to be a solution. No one has reported on their attempt to get it working with the Cronus Zen. Would you want to be the first?
I use the neGcon on PC-racing games/sims, but with many (if not most) it won't work properly. The reason is the very strange axis-allignment of the neGcon on Windows-PC, at least with my PS1 to USB-adaptor. Mostly you have conflict with ingame-menus, which reacts odd to neGcons analog-axis, making it almost impossible to navigate the menus (most NfS-games e.g.). In other Sims like "Assetto Corsa" the neGcon works like a charme, see here: ua-cam.com/video/VAmrUd-zb58/v-deo.html Do you know if the CronusMax Plus has any scripts to make the neGcon more "compatible" to the PC?
Here's my advice: Get a Cronusmax Plus and set it up in the Cronusmax Pro Software to have PS3 be the input controller and PS3 be the output (console). Then load the 4 GPC NeGcon scripts that I've discussed in the video. This should work since PS3 and PC controllers are functionally equal. Your NeGcon may work on certain games, but there may possibly be issues if the game doesn't allow flexible controller button mapping in the options menu. Success will be dependent on these factors.
