Glad everyone is enjoying the controller, I was wondering why I just got a flood of orders! I do have a dual stick version and am going to cut a prototype soon for the a dual stick, overlay!
I bought it right away yesterday after seeing the video, can’t wait for it. I see that it shows the dual stick in stock on your site. Is it available now by chance or still in prototype like you mentioned?
@@sandbender1414 oh I didn’t even know there were ones with a conventional keypad haha. I guess that’s what happens when you only watch a video. Do you happen to know if the single stick I bought yesterday has a conventional keypad or one that will allow for overlays? I’m hoping it allows for overlays as I have a complete set. Is there a way to put in another order for the twin stick with the keypad that allows for overlays as well? Thanks so much!
It's great seeing another 5200 controller option. A self-centering analog stick? I'm sold. Blaster looks really fun. Thanks for showing game play with the overhead shot of you using the controller.
I decided on the overhead shot when I saw the video about this controller from the maker of it here on UA-cam. It's the best way of demonstrating how awesome the analog accuracy is.
Wow, what a fantastic option!! I personally love the feel of the 5200 controller. I guess it’s because it’s the console I grew up with and my favorite console to this day. So when I see an alternative controller option that feels and plays like the original, I can’t buy it fast enough. I didn’t even finish the video yet before I purchased. Thanks so much for showcasing it and for the creator for the time spent on it. I can’t wait to get my hands on mine!!
Thank you for highlighting a very good option for the 5200. It was great seeing all of those great games. 5200 was very special and totally underrated. I ended up getting a RetroGameBoyz controller for Intellivision. Similar setup but with digital joystick. Really fixes the system in a similar way.
That StarFox-like Blaster game would have been slick, if it were polished some more. It would have really stood out against the other 5200 games were it released bitd.
Sweet controller, I miss my 5200 set, had it with adapter, redone original controllers… whole setup was stolen in the late 00’s and it makes me so sad… subb’d!
WOW!! I have 3 5200 units. Usually I use a WICO 5200 stick with the Atari controller attached for the pads, not ideal because using "phone" buttons is awkward, but works better than the "stock" stick. This thing looks awesome. It may bring my 5200 playing days back again. Wonder how Buck Rogers or Berzerk would do with this thing (my fav classic 5200 games).
I'm thinking this controller will be great to play Berzerk with. I should've tried it- but it's all packaged up and ready to get shipped back to my buddy, David, who's on the Atari 5200 Podcast with me.
I purchased the Atari 5200 True Analog, Analog-Digital, ANDI Overlay Compatible Controller from Cyberphreaks (aka David Nelson) yesterday. I'm very excited about this product.
@@wiredupretro The Latest Atari 5200 ANDI Overlay Compatible Controller adds a digital American sytle bat top joystick along with a True Analog stick and includes an overlay frame.
@@mitchellazevedo6637 The joystick Cyberphreaks uses is actually a Sanwa JLF clone with a bat top handle, not a true Amercan style joystick like the iL or Happ but it works very nicely.
Very nice review -- I had no idea this existed yet found myself in the ordering process by the end of your video, as too often happens when I watch your videos. Then I realized the one in my cart did not have the overlay support, and that version is apparently out of stock. Looks like that part can be retrofitted...? And/but, there is a dual stick version!? Ugh, choices :)
Largely anything is better than stock controller heh, so the more the merrier. That's neat about the Jag conversion option. Appreciate the analog control highlights since I've been quite foggy on which games actually utilize the directional gradient.😉 Overall it looks good to me, the ambidextrous dual buttons layout should have been used more in the past, along with the arcade stick shape, plus good menu button position.😁 I'm a bit divided on the keypad position since I might lean on it but where else could it go. Only thing I kind of wish for is a longer stalk, not a fan of short nubs, still neat how similar to the original it looks and how it centers.

Sounds like a good new venture for Atari... maybe a Jaguar Mini console with an SD card slot that has a revamped controller which is compatible with the real Jaguar.
Awesome video! Definitely buying this. Side note; are you ever going to be testing the Original Xbox Steel Battalion controller? The controller would be awesome to be used on different games!
Glad you are ordering one. Regarding the Steel Battalion controller- Once I found out that the right stick only goes up and down and not sideways, I kinda lost interest in getting it. I have now acquired two Sega Saturn Mission Sticks to have that dual stick experience, and it's really cool 😎
Is this serious question? It works on 2 player games like every other Atari 5200 controller, form the manual "For one-player games, plug one 5200 controller into jack 1 on your console; plug an additional controller into jack 2 for two-player games".

Good to hear that- it's gonna be quite remarkable!

@nicko5945 I have a dual stick with a conventional keypad. I have a layout complete for a dual with overlays, but have not built one yet.

Dude mad props on the controller, well done. Wish I still had my 5200 to have a reason to buy one
I'd love to see a USB version that works with the 400 Mini. Would buy it in a heartbeat.
I'd be very glad to see a USB version- Definitely!

Yeah- I've seen those snazzy controllers. Definitely very nice to play games with!
Just purchased one based off this video. Looking forward to using it.
This is the best review of anything I have seen in a long time!
Thanks man ❤️

Sweet. Thank you, it’s on my shopping list now.
Great video, I shared it with The Atari Network discord server !
Awesome thank you!

Oh wow Qix was one of my absolute favorites of childhood ❤
For what a buyer is getting then that price is fair - nice clicky buttons instead of the old mushy keys. Nice video and great looking controller.

Great video. Thank you!
This thing looks awesome!
This guy makes the real deal controllers worth every penny.
Got that right!
Does the analog stick self center? If so, that is a major improvement. I also like where the buttons are located for both left and right handed play.
Yes- it's self-centering. Truly a top quality controller.
Looks alot like a stick I saw about 20 years ago on Atariage. It was a modified 5200 trackball controller, but I dont know if it was analog
I actually remember seeing that. It was interesting, but I was sad about the loss of the Trakball...

OH! I've been looking for the jaguar controller and a modern remake of the controller for jaguar games.

Very nice!
It seems that Atari gave up too quickly on the 5200, if they didn't cheap out on the controllers it could have lasted longer, into the NES's lifespan.
How will it work with 2-player games like RealSports Football and Baseball?
Is this serious question? It works on 2 player games like every other Atari 5200 controller, form the manual "For one-player games, plug one 5200 controller into jack 1 on your console; plug an additional controller into jack 2 for two-player games".
Now try playing Robotron or Space Dungeon with it. lol

Is this joystick Hall Effect?
I don't think so, because if it was- That would certainly be hailed as a major feature. It's not mentioned on the website.
This doesn't work with the Atari 2600+ does it?
No, it won't work with it.
