I was gifted a few tea bags, stickers, a face mask and several little bottles of toiletries like from a hotel with the first thing I ordered from Poshmark. It was kind of weird actually, I didn’t really want to use any of it. I used to send signed prints of my art with my packages, but I didn’t get any comments or thank you’s for adding the extra things. Now I just wrap in tissue with the thank you sticker like you do and several people have commented that they appreciated that it was packaged with care. I like to print out the second page of the poshmark label on the label paper too, the one with the name of the item and who it’s going to, and I write a personalized thank you on it and put it in the envelope too. It’s a simple system but it makes people happy
I would actually recommend always wrapping clothing in tissue paper or something, especially if you’re reusing a box. When I first started, I got multiple return requests because the buyer would say it was dirty when it was just residue from the box… dumb and unnecessary, but saves trouble in the long run
True! I like to use recycled/recyclable items too to protect items on top of just tissue paper
Agreed. I do not add any frills. I only use free USPS boxes/envelopes. I just checked my posh stats - after 6753 sales I've only gotten 12 people mark packaging as an area for improvement. Drives me nuts when I get one though haha. As a customer myself, I don't want all the extra TRASH.
Totally true! Just anything thing to throw away which I’m trying to avoid with the whole “secondhand fashion” thing 😅
I disagree. I love wrapping my items up like a gift with a card. I have tons of reviews from people loving the special touch of their item being well packaged and they felt special. As a result I have so many repeat customers. It says something about the seller to take extra care and I feel like I’ve developed trust that buyers will receive something that has been wrapped carefully. Yes it takes extra time, but it’s been worth it for me for sure. I reuse materials and use up things I have at home, but still make sure it looks beautiful!
Sounds like a fun hobby. There's all kinds of sellers. More business oriented and more hobby oriented. I'm sure your buyers appreciate it.
@@dustyoldhatI wrap my items in tissue paper and make a full time living reselling. It’s not a hobby.
@@dustyoldhat Both can be true. I’m a successful business person and always have been AND my customers appreciate my emphasis on their experience.
@@jowiens32 Customers buying clothing online just want it to arrive as advertised, undamaged, and fast. That’s it. It’s your money and time though so have at it
Same. I find when I wrap my items pretty my reviewers started writing reviews rather than just stars. I’m a 5star seller. Wrapping with care makes people feel special and if you have the time why not make someone smile 😊
Great video. The paper tissue i have an issue with. I always put the purchased item in plastic bag before placing them into box or a poly mailer. As a customer myself, i absolutely hated receiving purchased item from seller that showed almost a negligence, for example leather shoes were sent in a medium box that was soaked by the rain in front of my door, extra care of a simple plastic bag inside would have protected my purchase from elements. But alas.
I always protect my items in a plastic bag before putting in a polymailer or box. Buyers can reuse the bag. Way too many times I’ve received items with the boxes and polymailers damaged. I get so many positive comments about my packaging.
I agree. Definitely put in a clear plastic poly bag before putting in whatever shipping polymailer or box you are using. I don’t know how many items I’ve gotten just shoved into a box, not only is it unprotected it also looks messy. I also get thank you a for the extra protection.
Thanks! Simple & easy to understand important info for us newbies 😊
Love the step-by-step process, thanks!
Agreed!
Great info Mogi! THank you!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm so ready for a Dymo label printer... Gotta list and sell more first.
Ugh, agreed! 😅
The only thing I saw in the video that I disagree with is on one of the boxes, you put the label on the crease (the small opening where the top flaps come together. Never put a label there, the label can be damaged in transit, making the label unreadable. Put the label on the flat part with no openings.
Very helpful! Are you going to make different videos about packaging for each platform you sell on?
Great point!
Now will you do one for EBay shipping please? I just started listing on eBay and can’t figure out where to get envelopes or boxes for Ground Advantage. I guess you have to actually buy them but where? And what sizes?
And do you have to weigh the item each sell? Do you need to take a pic of it on the scale? Very confusing compared to Poshmark.
What happened to your what sold videos?? I haven’t seen you upload in a month. I looked forward to them every Monday. Good or bad we would like to see.
I posted on Instagram about this, but forgot to mention it here. Unfortunately I got really tired of making the same thing week after week. I’ll definitely make them occasionally moving forward, but I’m trying out different content week to week 👍
Love your videos! I recently just quit my job to give reselling a full-time try. We'll see how it goes.
I wanted to let you know that the dymo printer you have linked is unavailable.
Ahhh congrats! Wishing you the best!
Do I have to wait for the label first I just want to make I’m not just sitting around and I’m supposed to be doing something else I already marked item sold
My first sale! The pre paid label was around 7 dollars. Are you saying that I can use any size Priority Mailing Box even a large one?
curious as to why your fold the USPS polybags. To me, that makes the bag less secure and needs additional tape. I ditched my dymo for a wireless rolo. Not sure if I like it better yet.
Agreed! The ones I’ve half folded, several orders have had cases opened for damaged goods or mailer arrived empty. 😂
The post office staff is so rude. 😂😂😂
True sometimes 😅
I’ve been selling on eBay for 3 years now. Just started on Poshmark last month. Today I had a buyer get 2 items from me but they paid for each item separately. Is there any way to combine the shipping? Not sure what to do.
For Poshmark shipments, is it still okay to use USPS Priority Flat Rate small, medium & large boxes?
yes
So if it's over 5lbs, would I still be charged extra?
Yeah, I keep my shipping simple too!
I’m curious, if someone does want to add the frills to their packaging, how much does it cost in terms of money and time? I get that it can make a small business feel special and bring in loyal customers, but what would the margin of profit be? Ribbon, tissue paper, stickers, unique poly mailers, etc. seem daunting in price.
It will not "bring in customers"
Customers on online clothing platforms want the clothes they want in good condition and for a fair price. They don't care about crafts and hobbies stuffed in the bag with their clothes....
But if it's fun for the seller than go for it
@@dustyoldhatI disagree with you. You can be a successful business owner and take the time to make your customers feel appreciated. It doesn’t mean it’s a hobby if you do this. Plus I definitely would be a repeat customer at a closet who takes a few extra minutes to wrap my purchase with care over someone who just throws it into a box. 🤷🏼♀️
@@Rinnysrackroom There’s a gulf of difference between using ribbons and bows and “throwing it into a box” friend.
It’s your time and your money. Have at it. But I sell menswear. There’s no “repeat customers” in online clothing shopping. And very few women do this either.
I just use what I have at home already. I think most people save bows and ribbons and have a million already at home sitting in a gift wrap box. I do buy pretty envelopes and plain white tissue paper in bulk and then add the little touches of ribbon and bow. It definitely brings repeat buyers and they tell me that .
Post office will print your labels now… no papers cost… nothing…with the QR codes….
Nothing? What about the cost to your time lol
Time is money
Good to know!
Does anyone know what happened to Mogi Beth? She hasn’t had a video for over 2 months. I hope she’s ok.
Any advice guys, I am a new reseller. Mercari or Poshmark? Thanks😊
Ebay
Poshmark
Most people would say Poshmark, I say both! I like Mercari 🙂
@@TakeItSlowMo thank you🤗
@@dustyoldhat thanks😊
I sell mostly menswear. Can't imagine putting a bow and thank you card lol
Hahaha that’s fair for men’s wear 😅
I completely disagree. The special touch is part of the reason I have so many repeat customers. It’s taking that special extra step that shows you appreciate your buyer and sets you apart from those that just shove an item in a box. I love wrapping my sales and always include a thank you note and often a small gift.
I do love to include “free gift with purchase” if I have some small items on hand!
I hate getting stuff in extra wrapping and ribbon and stickers and cards. It's such a waste! The worst is when people include religious pamphlets and prayer cards and propaganda. That's a sure way to make sure I won't ever buy from them again.
If someone included anything religious or political in anything I bought I would report them to Poshmark or whatever they're selling on, and complain until something was done. I would leave public negative feedback as well. That's totally uncalled for.
Yeah.. sometimes defeats the purpose of trying to be eco-friendly by buying secondhand 😅
