- These brands are DEAD TO ME. In today's reseller vlog, I do a little work with me while going over brands I will no longer pick up for Poshmark and eBay. I then go over What Sold while I ship out items for my reseller business. Let me know what brands you'll never pick up again and if you agree or disagree with my list!

I’ve definitely started focusing more on quality of material rather than brand name. I try to pick up silk blends, cotton, wool, cashmere, real leather, Italian yarn etc. From the trend watching I’ve been doing on TikTok, consumers are becoming fed up with poor quality material and would rather have well made, with natural materials and will pay for it. Just my two cents 😊
Totally agree💯💓
Wool does especially well.
I feel the same
I agree on xs and s sizes selectivity. I too, left behind a lauren ralph lauren 100% wool woman vest, in iconic RL colors. The bigger size, the more certain sale. Young people who are xs and s, love going shopping out and not ebay.
Honestly with all live shows everything decreased in value. All the brands you mentioned I would take for live shows (in the bins) but I would not post them in closet. I’m extremely selective with items for closet and mostly what I post I’d bread and butter brands with easy cash flow, not concentrating on expressive items
omg you made over a million dollars this past 12months . you have nothing to worry about. lol
Wow, this just confirms what I've been thinking for a really long time. I really live in a dead thrifting area. I never see any of the brands that you've mentioned that are now dying out. Never seen them, not even once.
Brands that sit for me are: Madewell, lululemon, Torid, Gymshark, Lulus, Travis Mathew, Rothy’s, allbirds, athleta, alo yoga, St John. And almost anything XS-S.
No More: H&M, TopShop, Torrid, Jeans unless designer or Levis, Free People (unless extraordinary), just to name a few. I am transitiong to rare vintage, and have been trying to purge all these old pieces I sell on Posh...when the Crossroads wont even take them in on trade, you know you have a problem! :)
Hi Mogi! Here's a few brands that I stopped grabbing at the thrift - Allbirds, Barefoot Dreams, Figs, Rothy's, Beyond Yoga and Crocs all get left behind now. I agree with all the brands you also listed. It's so funny you mentioned not really knowing what to look for in the athletic section right now because I was thinking the exact same exact thing! I'm just looking for those Vuori tags! :)
I literally give lululemon away, to their exchange program🤷♀️
Their cropped scuba hoodies and define jackets do well, men’s commission pants, and select shorts. The rest are collected for credit. Makes for good free gifts🤷♀️
What is their exchange program? What do you get out of it? Store credit?
I have only ever picked up NWT City Chic and I haven’t been able to sell a single item. I’m definitely not going to seek that brand out.
Same! I will not pick up city chic anymore
The only thing that sells well from City Chic are NWT Maxi floal dresses.
I can't move Eileen Fisher or Soft Surroundings to save my life. Even being picky and pricing low, they just sit. Same with most Free People.
Madewell has definitely slowed down some. It all depends on the piece. I did just sell a NWT Madewell dress and a white cotton shirt. Free People just doesn't seem to move anymore. I think it's just over saturated.
i think this also is due to them being carried in TJ Maxx and Marshalls so often now
Agree about FP. Think we are moving away from “new” boho to true vintage boho.
I came across a Vuori top at Salvation Army. I didn’t know it was a brand that would sell, but it was NWT & 50% off. And it felt quality. I bought @4.50 and sold on Poshmark for $50! Which, I was shocked about. Buyer didn’t ask for discount. LOVE it when that happens!
Ya vuori is a brand you see at REI stores. Similar in the Prana world.
The brand Torrid has definitely went down. Some pieces still sell but a lot of stuff just sits.
Completely agree. I think people just caught on that they can go online and get clearance from Torrid directly. It also depends on the style but offers have dipped significantly. I have what I have but haven't picked up any in 2023. Bummer!
@@heathersiegler6837I recently sold one of their maxis for $25. I remember when they used to sell for a lot more. I’ll probably still pick up their maxis in larger sizes. But the blouses & tops are a big no lol
@@heathersiegler6837 Yeah whenever I searched torrid style numbers they had sales plastered all over every page on their website.
I totally agree with Lane Bryant! It's so unfortunate because I have some good pieces like dresses and jumpsuits but they haven't moved! J Brand is one for me that i learned from you a while back that i havent been able to move and no longer pick up. I'm not even sure what jeans I SHOULD look for these days...
For athletic wear, Buff Bunny does pretty well for me. Quick flip most of the time. Brands that are moving really slow for me are Free People, Madewell jeans if they are skinny style, Superdown, Lulu’s, Maeve, Zara.
I skip most XS-S sections in my thrift stores. I find it is a MUCH better investment to spend more time in sections of the store that have a better return - and there are so many more brands that you can buy in larger sizes that will sell instead of possibly never selling in a XS. Honestly, its really only the long dresses that I'll spend time in the smaller size sections. I can't lie and say there isn't a little heartbreak at the thrift store finding something amazing but then seeing it's a tiny size because it will either not sell for me or the comps will be a fraction of what they could be in a more demand size.
Just sold 2 Figs today! Love it! I’ve also sold 2 NBD dresses within a day of listing. I believe they still do pretty good. Thanks for the updated brands to be careful with, notes added! 😉
Just subbed and was not expecting you to say “not bullish” as a term for reselling. As a stock market fanatic. I love it haha
Many of the brands like Free People, Lululemon, Madewell, and Good American are sold NWT on a lot of auction shows and with super low start bids. I think that definitely affects sales across all the selling platforms.
It’s because they’re sold in liquidation a lot so they’re cheap inventory for resellers. It’s over saturated too.
@@samntindall I buy a lot of liquidation at cheap prices and these people doing live shows are barely making any money off of these brands either. I don't really get why live sellers are wasting their time making a few dollars off of each item selling for low prices. It is a nightmare business model.
@@la6136 I agree, I used to buy anything as long as it made me $20 and that is just so stressful.
@@la6136 That is my question too! They are racing to the bottom and dragging everyone else with them.
@la6136 I believe they are using lives to get rid of stale inventory and drive traffic to their closets.
Since lives it seems posh has turned into a giant garage sale.
Very bad situation for posh and full time sellers😢
So funny you spoke up about " dead to me" brands! I was just thinking to myself how everything that was like going the last 2 years for me, I can't give away for free! I can't get Plato's closet or other resell shops to even take Lululemon, free people, princess Polly, and madewell. But strangely enough all my tees and clothes from high school I posted sold within days! ( I graduated in 2002, and have been 5 foot tall since 1997 so all my clothes never changed size lol) I did move into more hard goods and electronics, eye glasses, ECT, I move those now a lot faster then clothing.
I recently have sold small spanx that I got at the bins for $20 in a day or 2. That was a super fast easy sale! But sold my xl flare pants for $68
Good morning Mogi happy Saturday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
yessss loved this video and i would totally love to hear more brands not worth picking up! a lot of what you said i totally agree like rip gymshark. i also would say grlfrnd denim, alexander wang, a lot of lululemon pants that arent flare ( like the on the fly pants i cannot seem to move anymore), and most sadly im having trouble with agolde!! agolde was my favourite brand to pick up but like the jamie and rileys go for maybe 1/2 of what they used to - if they sell at all. and i dont even bother with size 22-24 anymore. which sucks because im a size 22/23 and i just totally am with you on the whole past mindset of all sizes will sell eventually - i cannot stand my pile of agolde 24's anymore i am really selective now with 24s and under. thanks for the great content xx
Oh wow. I've definitely been noticing a decline in brands that used to fly off the shelf for me: St John, Eileen Fisher, Faithfull the brand, WeWoreWhat, Madewell still doing well for me but J Crew is better, I have to be picky with Free People-maxis and sweaters are still good, Gymshark is bad, i keep swearing i won't pick up Zyia anymore but it keeps selling fast so i still throw it in my cart if it's a good price, Judy Blue still sells fast but i notice it's not selling for as much as it used to, same with Liverpool jeans, SPANX getting harder to sell, Betabrand is dead to me. I've been sitting on good sizes in the used to be popular black pants having to let them go on ebay for $20. Yuck. No more for me. Done.
Thanks for the video and information! We primarily sell shoes and have noticed a drop off with Vionic, Tory Burch, Coach, Torrid bras, Steve Madden, Kate Spade, Crocs, Skechers & Michael Kors. It’s not that some of these don’t sell, but the profits on them are much lower than they used to be in the past or how quickly the product actually moves. We are just more selective when we picked up these brands compared to what we used to do in the past. Thanks again for sharing and all the best… Paula
I agree with all your comments on athletic wear. Outdoor voices and Alo doesn't move for me at all (although I just sold a pair of Alo leggings for $15). Even Lululemon has to be a special piece; same with Athleta. I like Figs in a rare or sought after color.
I’m with you in sizes only M and up and preferably XL
No to Free People, Madewell, Lululemon unless its a coat. Unfortunately I didn't know that about Good American and I have a pair of NWT and another pair-I hope I can sell them!
Athleta! It used to be bread & butter for me....but not anymore! Always love your videos!
Wrangler and Lee jeans are FLYING out of my closet all of a sudden! Thanks for the great content!
Have you gone to the thrift stores recently? There are tons of men in the mens section and they're in the jeans section. That's why Levis isn't selling. Men know to go to the thrifts and get them for less.
@Chicago48 I agree,the men's section used to be dead.
Not now! It's been full everytime I go lately
A nolo would be great too!
Goodwills near me price athletic wear for $7.99. I'll graze for the 75% off tags, but that is one section I will skip if I am short on time. I rarely find anything worth picking up.
I can't seem to sell Madewell either
Some of the brands you named (at least one that I recall you named) are fast fashion brands, which over saturate the market. I wonder if society is just becoming more aware of how bad they are for the environment, not to mention how unethical some are. Although as resellers and consumers of reseller closets we are not directly supporting those brands, maybe people want to be conscious about what they are wearing and not supporting them from a fashion standpoint, thus the decline in popularity. Just one opinion!
Girl vintage Patagonia sells super high even flawed!
The only clothing I pick up is jeans 12+, jean jackets XL+, shoes size 9+ . I also pickup scrubs in all sizes students wear them. Mostly toys for babies, toddlers, kids, tweens and teens.
Are you particular with scrub brands?
I had the same issue with Levi’s. I had a bunch that I bought that were wedgie and ribcage that I took to buy sale trade and just bought better inventory with the trade. I had Levi’s Baggy Dad jeans which I kept and they sold
For athletic wear I LOVE selling Alo (new tag of course) if I don’t end up keeping it for myself since it’s one of my favorite brands! Also Set Active is really hot, Vuori, Skims, and newer Lululemon ❤
Is there someone you follow that talks about what is currently on trend in real time, I do not watch TikTok and I am not trendy but I would like to know what actually is selling and not selling as the trends fluctuate.
Posh has a "what's trending" on the front page.
Agolde is starting to tank. I could sell NWT for $150 a few month ago but lately I'm only getting $50 offers over and over and over.
I sold a Betabrand yesterday XL Tall. I think it’s good but inconsistent
Gymshark leggings always sell for me! Even xs!
I am not a fan of going through athletic wear section. I walk by it and glance, but that’s it. Not my niche at all.
I feel bad you and other resellers are stuck with a lot of athletic inventory.
XS/0 is a skip (99% of the time) for me in any brand. Reselling is not what it used to be.
You don’t post measurements?
I hate measuring everything, but I feel like I wouldn’t sell anything without the measurements.
It seems that our thrift stores around here in rural Indiana have mainly department store brands. I'm trying to find some of the brands you and others on UA-cam mention.
No’s for me. Free people and Madewell.
I also don’t pick up Betabrand anymore! Used to do well but now I’m sitting on a lot. Madewell and Spanx used to do much better as well, but now I have to be more selective. Levi’s wedgie jeans do okay for me but just bread and butter, $30-35 sale only.
What are yall doing to get sales on poshmark these days. I was getting 10-20 sales a day and now I am LUCKY to get 1 on poshmark. I have 3000 items. What is going on?!?!?!?!
I think it’s the live shows. They’re listing things for $1-$5 starts. How are those of us that don’t do shows compete with that?
@@jpeek1009 Agreed😢
Posh has turned into a giant yard sale 😢
where did you purchase your shelves and finally, watching your vides is encouraging me set up my loft, shelves will be idea. Thank you PLESAE!!!!!
I have the same question 🙏
Home depot!
@@MogiBeth Thank you so kindly 😊
No surprise, madewell, good American, Lululemon, free people all sit for me too. Also l’agence denim I just donated a bunch of it. PrAna and Everlane also sit for me me.
I can’t seem to give away women’s Lululemon. Maybe it’s my hate for the brand somehow showing through on my listings🤷♀️ I also get the most ridiculous questions about women’s Lululemon items. You know the questions where you’re like I really don’t want this person to even buy this item. I take most of it straight to BST at this point. I don’t seem to have the same issue with men’s Lululemon.
LOL I hate Lululemon I do not understand the type around this brand at all. Their designs are so basic.
Athletic wear in my thrift shop is 3 dollars so it’s like the cheapest thing I can get to resell
I am very selective about what Torrid I pick up now. It used to sell awesome. Now I have a lot of stuff sitting.
ME too. Really slow.
I stopped reselling in 2018 and just started up again in 2023. Free People and White House Black Market used to sell for me really well but not anymore. Also CAbi and Quacker Factory used to sell well. I’m still trying to retrain my brain.
I only pick up vintage Levi’s especially if it’s big E, silvertab, orange tab, button fly or selvage
I think a part of the reason why especially active wear has not been selling for as much is because amazon especially has a huge amount of great quality workout clothing for very cheap!
I only sell Levi’s premium jeans. I usually pick them up at buy sell trade. Rib cage, high loose, 90s 501, dad and low lose are the ones I really want to find.
What price point do you find these are moving at?
@@sylviar8420 between $40 and $50. I check sell thur on posh when I find any Levi’s premium
@@sylviar8420 I sell these NWT levi's premium jeans, the styles she mentioned, usually $50+ and ribcages usually for $60+. Usually I am into them for $15 or less. They are easy to find.
I feel like everything is harder to sell and sells for so much less now. I’m wondering what actually DOES sell. And I only have Goodwills, Salvation Army, and Savers to source from and their prices are super high , AND they pull good brands and won’t put them on the floor. So no chance of finding Vuori here. Also Figs is going through reselling sites and having their listings pulled. They don’t allowed reselling (although they cant legally do this, but they’re going it 🤦🏻♀️)
Figs definitely 😮
I imagine athletic wear was a lot more popular when people were sitting at home much more than usual a couple of years ago.
That’s a great point!
Thanks for the vid! So much of this is subjective which makes it difficult but I cannot move Women's Levis to save my life. Men's Levis sell well for me. TopShop has never sold for me and thinking of taking it to Plato's Closet (I don't have Crossroads).
Vuori right now is selling well I have had two pieces and they sell in less than a week
What kind of steamer do you use?
Lululemon sits. I don't pick up any athletic wear anymore unless is it a really substantial piece or NWT. COS, Madewell, Eileen Fisher, Johnny Was has been super slow. Just in general, I am being WAY more picky with what I pick up from these brands.
I have a lot of Levi's pieces. Don't seem to get much interest anymore
I also sold a pair of Levi's shorts for $20 this week. But I have a pair of 501 just sitting. Won't pick it up again. What about their denim jackets?
Lululemon I used to be so excited to find it but it just doesn't move good for me at all
I always find nice clothes for myself on Poshmark because I wear an XS and 2/4. But when I list my items to sell, and they’re all either unworn or worn a few times, they take forever to move. And nothing is on trend because I’m old. This has been eye opening. Just both of my sons clothes move quickly on there, but has slowed down since the live shows
Omg same I'm that size and 43 so nothing I have sells. I think most people who are xs are like high school and college age now a days.
I pull stale items and donate them to take the tax write-off. Do you find it more financially beneficial to send to Thread-Up?
I think Vuori is starting to wane as well to be honest. It’s better than Lulu, but in general I feel like people aren’t making such a big deal over workout clothes anymore. I’m focusing on strong designer brands and vintage.
Free People
Vuori, Cotopaxi, arcteryx, smartwool, sell well but are hard to find for me
I pick up lots of small sizes for jeans but my COG is also quite a bit lower than yours.
My best selling small size jeans are Abercrombie and Levi's in wedgie, ribcage, and 501. I picked up one rag&bone size 23 and it sold in a week.
Levi's i can't sell in any women's sizes larger than like a 30. Plus size levi's do not move.
I should note for levi's I'm paying around $15 a piece for NWT premium wedgie, ribcage, and 501. I don't really source at the thrift anymore.
Men are going to the thrift stores and buying Levis. They don't care if they're rough looking, it's cheaper than buying new.
@@Chicago48 yeah I think her prices at her thrift stores are too high to buy to resell levi's. I sell lots of men's levis of all sizes but my COG is a lot lower than hers. To sell the more common saturated styles you have to list closer to the bottom of the market.
Rothy's have not been selling for me AT ALL, I have like 10 pairs and none of them have moved :(
I’d be interested to see what you have.. what is your Poshmark?
Yeah Rothys don’t sell anywhere near the prices they used to. Not great for selling but it’s one of my fav shoe brands so it’s great to buying Rothys. My local thrift also prices Rothys at $35 and up which makes it not worthwhile picking up
Also no to lane Bryant and Torrid
Spanx-- anything under a large won't pick up, torrid won't pick up, eileen fisher under an XL won't pick up, madewell anything, lululemon --90% of the leggings won't pick up, betabrand won't pick up, girlfriend collective, outdoor voices, athleta- 90% of the styles won't pick up, fabletics anything, and sooo many more lol
At 9:52 I could not understand what brand you mentioned that is the hottest selling brand for athletic
I think it's Vuori! Or Arc'Teryx. Both are 🔥
❤❤❤
What printer do you used to print your labels?
I use this one! (shameless affiliate link 🙂) amzn.to/4bjjgRS
@@MogiBeth thank you ☺️
Free People. I actually wear Blondo booties lol.
Oh my, Flynn Skye, I have one, no interest, forever.... uhk
Same here, super cute dress too but nothing.
Also, Gal Meets Glam, can't give it away.
Zyia is a brand I will no longer be picking up 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
do u still do tradesy
Tradsey doesn’t exist anymore
Is club Monaco a bolo brand??
Depends on the item 😊
the "I feel unsafe" Karen?
lol does The Hague know?
