I agree 100%. I was totally confused before finding this video, now it makes perfect sense. I sell a lot of jeans and shoes, so I am not sure how I feel about $4 per pound extra if a person buys several things. That could eat into profit fast, especially if you are running a sale.

If it won't fit in your mailbox, you can log into the USPS website and request pickup at your residence. Free if you schedule during your carrier's regular route. I just stack them on my front porch.
Good tip! I should have mentioned this! However, I will say that i have tried porch pickup with no success, even when i put a sticky note reminder on my mailbox.
@@AmberResells That's disappointing. I've been fortunate. My carrier has picked it up every time and scanned each item before leaving my house. It saves me time, gas and hassle.

@@bindiyas I get an email saying my items were picked up, but tracking numbers aren't included. I've never had any problems. The items always begin tracking that same day.

I do okay there but sometimes there's issues with them.being overstocked and not taking nee items. Going to try thos route for a bit and see what happens.

The only thing I would add is that the Priority Mail TYvek Envelopes are basically free polymailers. Super strong and perfect for most clothing.

Where do you get the USPS label stickers?
I have multiple questions I know this video was a year ago but I hope you can see this and respond I’m new to that and I have multiple questions 1. So you can’t use like a bag (small) to ship with the label on or it’s like completely necessary to have a brown box and the ups boxes and 2. How exactly do I pay for the shipping because you said if it can fit on your mailbox just put it there. Meaning that you don’t have to pay? If you put it in your mailbox
You can use any priority box or envelopes except for priority express.
This is true. For anyone who is new to Poshmark and reading this, go to 2:27 of the video to see a normal priority mail shipping envelope. The Express packages will say EXPRESS under Priority Mail and will have blue stripes instead of red.

What happens if During Closet Clear Out you lower the price of a heavy item, let's say 6 lbs, by 10% to trigger the discounted shipping and someone buys it? Do they still pay $3.99 or $4.99 (and why does it sometimes do either of those) and then the extra $4 for being over 5 lbs taken from what I earn?
When I cross post from eBay, on some listing the shipping details also copy over to Poshmark and sometimes not? Can you explain?

On the app! Go to your listing, click edit, then choose something on the “discounted shipping” section.

What happens when someone buys multiple items each with its own shipping label?
I'm a loooong time eBay/Amazon seller so please be patient with me because I'm so used to being able to charge actual shipping cost and adjust the shipping the better I can do in packaging it. Especially light jewelry items that can be shipping first class.
In addition, Amazon allows us a few pennies extra to cover our shipping costs like tissue paper, nice ribbons, all the things poshmark wants us to ship with. Hmmm.
Question... should I have this percentage discount on, on my listings? I thought it would give a combined shipping discount or something like that. But now, I'm not sure. This over 5 pound cost scares me!!
How are our buyers going to want to buy more than one item if they all cost over $7 each to ship?
I just know, the first thing I'd do is email a seller and ask if they will coming shipping when I want more that one if their items. So... am I going to get 100 emails asking the same thing?

First time seller on PM . First sale went sideways due to tech difficulties. PM has locked down my account. No access to shipping labels. Canadians use Canada Post in conjunction with USPS? That part was never explained by PM. $7.11 USD. Any idea how much cdn? it wont directly convert straight over to cdn, I gaurantee that.
Thank you for this video Amber! This might be a dumb question, but... are we expected to have a postage scale to know if our packages are over 5 lbs? That seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of Poshmark's simplified shipping! I haven't run into any problems so far, and I stort of just try to estimate if it seems like it weighs more than half my cat, but that's not exactly a failsafe method.

My first method was to weigh myself and then weigh myself with the package. Then my second method was to take it to the post office to be weighed if I thought it was close. Then I'd go buy an upgraded label if needed. Then finally, I just bought a $25 package scale on Amazon.
@@AmberResells I should probably just go ahead and get one, too. I've tried the weighing myself with/without the package method but I don't trust my bathroom scale to be accurate to the pound like that (this is possibly a self-serving distrust, LOL!).

Question here, im shipping mens puffer vest, it’s pretty big and bulk when I folded it. Can i use the Large flat rate box to ship it? Or are we only allowed to use the large flat rate box for orders over 5 lbs?
You can use the large flat rate for it.
Can i ship clothing on a color polybag that does not say USPS? I've got tons of black poly bags from aliexpress, wondering if i can use them or the poly bag has to be from usps?

This explains everything except where the physical label comes from. I understand you get an email copy but then what. You print it up on your home printer with regular paper? Or can you have the post office print one? Or do you need a fancy sticker printer?
You can print with a regular printer and then tape it on your package

Why would Poshmark suspend my account for something about a shipping label? I only accepted a sale for a pair a jeans I listed it for $13 she asked to buy it for $4 and I said yes. The next day my account was deactivated 😥 I was trying to be nice and just get something for the item. Do you know why this would happen? I didn't do anything else but add followers and try to follow others. I am always nice to people. I've put 60 items on the app. I took my time, tried to make everything look nice, I listed measurements and condition as well as size. It makes me sad because I did all that work and it's gone. I don't even know what I did wrong. Thank you I appreciate being able to post here.

Poshmark will automatically email you the label as soon as you sell soemthing.
If it is over 5lbs am I required to use their label and pay the $4 per pound or can I do a usps label on my own and upload the tracking number to poshmark? Because at that point if I ship in a flat rate box, I may be able to get it cheaper than the extra $4 per pound.
Yes, you are required to upgrade it within Poshmark and use their label. Another option would be to reach out to the buyer and ask if they can cancel and order the items separately. You could offer them $8 off the price to make up for the second shipping cost. That option is pretty risky though because that relies on the buyer trusting you and understanding what to do.
I wish there was an option to print labels for Priority Mail and Priority Flat Rate Mail. I always get some pushback from a few post offices saying they can’t accept a flat rate box because the label doesn’t say it.
at the bottom of Poshmark label it says valid for all priority packages including flat rate and regional rate boxes. just make sure not to cut off the bottom of label

I think you can get a little label maker style printer to print stick-on labels. Can’t remember where I saw that, but it was small and looked affordable. Not sure if that’s answering your question.
1:53 I’m still a little confused about this. Do I need to pay for the mailer at USPS? Or does Poshmark pay for the mailer? When USPS scans my QR code will I get a mailer for free?

Poshmark does not work the same. Poshmark will email you the label. You can print it out at a library.

Thank you for the info. I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly. I have no transportation and when selling on Ebay I have the USPS pick up and hand them the package. It seems like you are saying it has to fit in the mailbox or you have to deliver it to the USPS and you are not able to actually put in a request for pick up but can not give it by hand to the Postman. Can you let me know if I am understanding this correctly. If this is the case I will not be able to sell on Poshmark.

I believe they recommend 3 days, but if you haven’t shipped by 7 days the buyer has the option to cancel the order

Here is a link to the scale I use. It is $24. amzn.to/2TL1FhG You can also just go without one. As long as you aren’t selling super heavy boots or a bunch of items to the same person, you won’t go over 5 pounds. On Poshmark, you really only need to weigh the package if you think it might be over 5 pounds.

When I didn’t have a printer at home, I just went to the library, printed the label off on printer paper, and taped it to my package.
what I can't wrap my head around is giving PM 20% of my profit all the while charging $7+ dollars in shipping for an item that might only cost $10. Doesn't make sense that anyone would buy smaller priced items from someone. What am I missing?
