You get so much better views from the traditional lines than from Shinkansen. Same in Japan as in Europe. That's why I'd always prefer to use the traditional lines, and in Japan they still invest in them, as we can see here
10:43 That high school student's English is very good. 11:17 One thing I have noticed in your videos is that there is a lot of travel between mountains. Whether by bus or train, there are always roads and tracks built between mountains. Thanks for taking us with you to Shirakawa go!
24:28 what i like about japan old street is they building and rooftop so clean and have they water line direct into the land and make it clean and good design even its old buolding i like itt much
I had the pleasure of visiting Takayama in the summer of 2018 and taking the same route by train. The train route was very beautiful and the city is really charming. The meat is really exquisite. Regards from Barcelona, Spain.
I saw this train in Nagoya station on the platform beside the one's I'm taking (Shinano limited express for Nagano). I was really attracted to it that I was tempted to just get inside for a bit and have a look whilst waiting for my decent but old train. Thanks for the video, I'd consider taking a trip to Takayama and Shirakawa-go
Great trip. You are definitely lucky, having entire room of green car for yourself, meanwhile the standard class is almost Full. Great scenery along the journey, and great scenery in Takayama and Shirakawa Go
My good lord what a country. This isn't a mere train ride, but instead the birth child of a train ride and a tour. The announcer talks about the location. I found the announcement from the high language club quite fascinating. The path they take is so beautiful that they can afford to make a tour message about it lmao. Here in America, our trains would say "If you look to the left, you will witness a store looting and shooting occurring simultaneously." 😂
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video. I did that train journey in March of this year when there was still snow. This video brings back wonderful memories. Arigato gozimasu!
I plan to take this route in October, but in the opposite direction. The more I learn about Takayama (& Kanazawa, unfortunately I won't have time for Shirakawa-go), the more I look forward to visiting these places.
Please make more videos about tourist attractions in Japan. I'd rather see you going to tourist attractions than making videos about transportation & hotels. 🙏
3:17 That song is Called "Alpine Ranch/アルプスの牧場", One of the Oldest train Chimes in Japanese Railway since JNR era... But this version are re-compossed by Tetsuro Sugiura.
Well done always love❤your videos take scenery is beautiful and the food looks fabulous keep up the great work you are doing for the channel Paul in Kent United Kingdom
Very beautiful view giving us how the Japan countryside look.. very green indeed with the blue sky! How many hours was the ride? So the only new is the first class coach and the rest of the train is not new? I love the style of Japanese house as it exudes home sweet home vibe and coziness. And materials used are natural. Must be nice to sleep in one when it is raining. Looks like the food are bon appetitly delectable!
Went to shirakawa-go last year in early March. Felt like low season, still snowy in the forest and most areas, but raining during the day. It's definitely out of the way, in terms of the bus ride, so you might as well stay there for 1 night (I got on the bus from Kanawaza, so the opposite direction). Just a note that you might need to buy a separate bus ticket at the ticket office. Can't just hop on and pay with suica on these long haul busses. I had to wait an hour for the next bus, because I wasn't aware of this.
Winter’s view make me feel cold inside If I were there I’d be away from the window In fact I don’t think I’d be anywhere on the train till spring when everything is fresh and warm
Would it be too rushed to make Shirakawa a day trip from Nagoya? I might be visiting Nagoya later this year and this video inspires me to go a little further than planned.
A lot of your videos show trains/busses/hotels with a lot of vacancy, perhaps empty. Is that just because you avoid crowds out of respect for guests' privacy, or are these places normally empty?
You get so much better views from the traditional lines than from Shinkansen. Same in Japan as in Europe. That's why I'd always prefer to use the traditional lines, and in Japan they still invest in them, as we can see here
I love your channel and your calm, quiet travel style. Keep making videos!
Beautiful, very beautiful. I always look forward to seeing all your new videos.

Trochę jak wioski w Alpach. Piękne miejsce.
Fabulous trip! I loved watching this video! Thank you! 🥰
That's very beautiful.
Look forward to every new video! Great job.
It looks like there a few good hotels in Shirakawa, Ono District. You should try one and make a video. 😎

I can almost kinda smell the rooms in that museum where they’re showing old equipment ( 17:36 ), so many museums smell the same for some reason.
Férias maravilhosas...

You can reverse the seats with the foor pedal at the side.
Such a lovely video!
So beautiful!

I've missed your train videos!
Hello! I MUST win the lottery, then I'm travel to great Japan. Greetings from Finland!

HC85 sound like Prius of railcars
There is still a lot of jointed track in Japan, rather than welded rail.
I have never road a train before, does it feel weird to ride facing backwards.
The HC85 looks like it belongs in an episode of Ultraman.
17:11 i want to see yayoi and jomon house era hmm jo,mon also fro,m southeast asia we ancestor
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I Am India Sir Japan❤❤

Ha! Paper!

I think it‘s like in Italy, Austria and Germany. Same!
At the rush hour it‘s to full, and mostly the rest of day, you have place enough.
I’ve always figured he does like mini tours of them he picks times he knows the train will/might be empty
