    I am Japanese. There are areas of Japan, especially in urban areas such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, that are adversely affected by excessive numbers of foreign tourists. However, there are many minor cities and regions that are rarely visited by foreign tourists. If possible, avoid Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto and visit regions such as Kyushu, Tohoku, and Shikoku.

      Thank you for sharing your opinion.
      Foreign tourists visit mainly Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima, which are called the Golden Route. The Japanese government is also considering measures to attract foreign tourists to rural areas as a countermeasure against over-tourism.

      I visited 北九州 last year for 花見🌸and I’m visiting 四国 next month ❤ and you are right, apart from avoiding Japanese holidays, also going to less popular areas help too

      Why would tourists want to avoid to visit cities that have a lot to offer to those who visit them?

    • @realstage1925
      @realstage1925 20 днів тому +5

      @@danal81 That is correct. Probably because tourists are attracted to cities that are better known.

    • @danal81
      @danal81 20 днів тому +2

      @@realstage1925 so you are saying there are a lot of less-known places that are not any less worth visiting even if it means spending, for example, less time in places that are known. I guess. That is definitely something to consider.

    I’ve been to Japan 9 times and I loved going there in November-December the most. The last time I was there was in January-February 2023 for six weeks. It was cold, but great weather for onsens.

      If you are staying at some of the small ryokans around instead of the big hotels and the lady's who run them find out it's your honeymoon, they might do a little something for you. Way back when my husband and I went for our honeymoon and some did tea ceremony, mini photo album and a kimono patchwork small purse. They were the nicest ladies and love chatting. Some even told us of good places to visit and the times to do so.

    Personally, I went for 3 weeks during August of last year. I knew it would be hot, but I live in Southern California, so I'm used to very hot dry weather. The weather wasnt as hot, but the humidity was high. All in all, it didn't affect my trip at all.
    My birthday month is August, and I really wanted to attend the Nagaoka Hanabi Festival. Also, the only surrounding holiday is Obon, and there are festivities related to it that are tourist friendly.
    If you're not heat averse and enjoy festivals, I personally would recommend going in August as its no longer rainy season, tourism is low, and festivities are high.

    A valuable set of tips. Well organized and with helpful tips if one's schedule makes it impossible to avoid busy or weather-unfriendly periods. For fans of Grand Sumo, it is noteworthy that the three Tokyo tournaments occur during auspicious times to visit Japan. While cold, January is one of the sunniest periods in Tokyo making the cold less chilling than in cloudy places (like my home town, Cleveland, OH).

    Definitely going to save this video for future reference. As I said before in a previous video, I went to Japan in the beginning of August and was close by when summer vacations started. What a sweltering experience! I had to drink plenty of big water bottles from connivence stores.
    Thankfully, it was an experience to never visit again during that time. I’m still aiming for the autumn season on November this year for a more pleasant weather experience!
    Thanks for the advice again, Toshi! 👍🙇

    I have been visiting Japan every year for past 10 years. Very good tips in this video. Highly recommended all who want to visit Japan to watch the whole video. One more thing to add, Japan’s country side is really beautiful, and it is very convenient to rent a car from nearby any major train station to explore the less crowded places. Use google translate to help communicate with the locals who may not be comfortable at speaking English.

    I visited in 2019 at the begging of June because plane tickets and hotels were listed much cheaper. It rained non stop for the first 2 days but after that got about 8 days of good weather, the sky was grey all the time, but that wasn't a problem. All in all, I did not regret it.

    With Golden Week just remember if you are in Tokyo only then it can actually be a good time to visit. Because everyone leaves Tokyo. The only down side is that smaller businesses are closed. The hotels are usually cheaper in Golden Week in Tokyo business districts. Just avoid the week after Golden week as stated here as everyone comes back!!!

Okinawa is beautiful and food was authentic Japanese food for lunch and dinner with buffet breakfast in my 4 to 5 star hotels , the local Japanese tour agency used by my country agent is truly awesome. I have been to most parts of Japan , I will revisit Japan again. I usually pick the autumn season.

    The first time I visited Japan I arrived in mid-August. Tokyo was like a ghost town (Obon) and it was hot but I could cope with that since I enjoy hot weather. I spent several hours outside queuing to get into Comiket at Big Sight at the end of August that year with no problems. When I left at the beginning of September a typhoon was just coming into the Tokyo area.

    I’ve been living in the north eastern U.S for over 50 years and I’ve gone back to Japan every now and then. I definitely avoid the summer especially after the rainy season is over. With excruciating heat and humidity, I suffered from a heat stroke in one of my visits. I was born and grew up in Tokyo until 1970, so you may think I was well aware of the summer heat. However, after residing in a colder climate for most of my life and especially with the global warming, the heat was incredible! For me, the best time to visit Japan is late October and early November.
