For purely overnight travel to save on a hotel room and travel time this makes so much sense for the budget traveler. No need for a dining or lounge car or fancy cabin that you won't really get to use. The only thing that might enhance the experience are a couple of communal shower rooms for before and/or after a good night's sleep, and to change out of and then back into street clothes. If not on the train, then at least at the station for people booking such capsules. You could even charge a nominal fee for them.

For example, the Shangri-La Express.
During the last summer vacation, it cost me about 70 USD for a 1000~1300km journey, about 3~4hour. Ordinary trains cost 20 USD but spend more than a half day

China's infrastructure and public goods are the world's number one. and public good cost is very low, especially many places is free, Great Welcome to China and visit
It is no wonder why more and more Chinese long trip travelers are choosing high speed rail as their first choice all because of cheaper price, on time departure and arrival, and larger personal space available on board of rail cart than in the tin can airplane.
I live in a quiet village in Yorkshire, England. It is fascinating to see this activity on the other side of the world. It also appears that the infrastructure and railways originally pioneered almost two hundred years ago in my country are now left behind by those in Asian countries.
Thanks! Great video. The carriage layout looks great. It looks roomy with the ability to sit and or stretch out flat. I once travelled overnight from Beijing to Harbin on the top bunk in a 6 berth cabin during the new year travelling season - it was terrible. I couldn't sit up or move so I spent the night sitting a small seat in passageway leaning against the window. The window iced up as it was minus 20C outside. Formidable !!
Great trip. Years ago, I've watched High Speed Sleeper Train in China on another channel, but as far as i remember, it isn't like this, since the trainset variant was different. Before I realised you are on diet, I actually want to ask: are you sure is it enough to fullfil your stomach only with McDonald's? And not rice? Bit surprising me to see lower capsule is more expensive than upper one. If High Speed Sleeper Train taking 12 hours running between two Cities, can't imagine about the conventional train running on same route.
Basically, sleeper train in china are mainly those that you sleep vertically to the direction of train and this you have seen in the video is the rarest sleeper train in china. And, in fact there is no need to care about any hunger as one, you could actually purchase cheap set meal on the cafeteria car, or two buy take out in any stations your train pass by. However the necessity of eating more is not appear because for most of ppl they do sleep directly after get onboard
Guys, if you want a train like this. Book the train with ONLY sleepers. The sleepers on the trains that have both seats and sleepers are still comfortable, but are in the tradition 4 sleeper per room configuration. These trains are also tall and have 2 windows stacked, almost like a double decker train. This train specifically is the D903 (still in service) train. Same price, but better comfort.

Very good. Thank you for the video.
Wow! I would love to take this train once in my life!
This is good choice for ground overnight trip for the route between Beijing-Guangdong province. I got no chance to catch it when the ticket sold out in my previous Beijing visit.

Formidable !!
Thanks for sharing your happy time.
Splendid!
Happyness rating watching this video 100%

I think people no longer take slow train for long distance travel Beijing and Shenzhen is like from Russia to Spain or even longer
Then you must have never been on a train in China. There is catering service on the train. You can buy it at any time if you need it.
Fantastic video, liked the Urdu subtitles ❤

kapsułowy wygląda super :) pozdrawiam
Guys, if you want a train like this. Book the train with ONLY sleepers. The sleepers on the trains that have both seats and sleepers are still comfortable, but are in the tradition 4 sleeper per room configuration. These trains are also tall and have 2 windows stacked, almost like a double decker train. This train specifically is the D903 (still in service) train. Same price, but better comfort.

Someday this type of train will be go to HK West Kowloon station.

❤ From India🇮🇳
Great trains. China will become super power in coming years.
Most likely if you are travelling domestic.
