Take a listen to the 1st 3 albums with "Johan Liiva" on vocals, when they were heavier, a bit more complex, and had the "Buzzsaw" tone to their guitars, and those memorable melodic melodies/hooks in contrast to the brutality of that era.
Jeff, from a talent perspective, is beyond this band! Has been from the get-go TBH! Sempre achei um desperdício um guitarrista como o Jeef no Arch enemy!!!!!! Nada contra a banda, aliás amo esta banda, porém Loomis era guitarra demais pra está banda!!!!!! Sucesso!!!!! Acompanharei os dois como sempre!!!!!
Yes, finally!!! after playing tertiary stuff for a quaternary? quinary? (no idea, they were never on my map) band. Good decision, congratulations. They should really get a guitarist who plays within their own league - and not a friend who can't say no.

Good. I no longer need to follow Arch Enemy. Jeff Loomis made a wise decision and I know he will continue his brutal style of playing that he his well known for.
Arch enemy's good band ,i think. Before loomis ,christopher ,nick cordle ,come on man ,we all know michael ammot is founder this band and he's one of the best too.. but loomis, christopher ,nick ,they are different levels.
Arch Enemy went downhill when Angela left. I've not been a fan since. Mainly because of that spoilt little brat they've got as a singer, which is probably why Jeff also left.
I posted this with another video, - before Loomis left - but here goes: This is likely an unpopular opinion, but I do not “prefer” the Alissa version of Arch Enemy. Sure, they were progressive and a tad out there as far as melodeath goes with Angela, but now it’s some weird hybrid of classic melodeath and whatever Alissa’s fronting is attempting to be. Image aside - again, what is it? A Disney character, superhero or supermodel looks? - Even her vocals, trying to be really refined, diverse, understood, but not the same music anymore with the cleans - that affects the music, making it more like Five Finger Death Punch or the likes; the way she moves on stage, the gesticulation, even her facial expressions, just trying really hard to convey some tough metal chick but a supermodel image at the same time, everything, it’s just too much, it just does not fit together well. In her interviews, she also has this air of holier than thou, I’m-a-real-artist-but-I-look-and-sing-better-than-you look and attitude. Not the Arch Enemy that I used to like. I respect the music, the guitar playing (Jeff Loomis, I totally understand you, but would be nice to see you move on and make some heavy, melodic stuff that is free of those weird metalcore’ish escapades!!!), and I also understand the appeal of this new band, - many love it, nothing wrong with it!! - just not for me anymore. I will listen to the Angela era.
Angela is still controlling things in the backstage. Alissa is just an employee like Jeff was. This band is like a company owned by Michael and last time i heard it he and Angela like married or something.
Oh, he was in that ArchEnemy band? How long? Loomis seems like one of those guys that has great technical ability, but will never become greatness in a great band.
