So excited can’t wait to try your recipe my next-door neighbours when I was a kid were used in the end and I was really good friends with their children that family treated me like the wrong kid I had dinner over there every single night for years! Lol 😂 Roti and Dahl!!!!!! And they used to make me chai tea for a treat all the time and I haven’t had it in years just in powdered form but it’s not the same as when I was a kid! This is going to bring me back thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!!❤
@@anmol3 Another nushka, you reduce the milk before you add it to tea. Don't put cold milk from fridge straight into boiling tea. You may think ek chai ke liye itna kuch...but see, the biggest problem is, cooking time of tea and cooking time of milk is vastly different. If you wanna have creamy texture you'll have to reduce the milk first. By the time cold milk gets upto a boil, tea would already start to become bitter and if you don't boil the milk, your tea will have milk smell and milk taste. I make the tea liquor, transfer it on a glass, then reduce the milk and add the tea liquor back in. You try it once bro, aap zindagi bhar yaad karoge mujhe 😎
Ok so basically green cardamom is kinda expensive so what i do usually is one pod per 2 people and its perfect. Its subtle but there and really rich too. If u put that many pods in the chai for a person it'll be too overwhelming however green cardamom has the best flavor ever so ig it might be nice only!?
I use nutmeg, one black pepper corn and a hefty pinch of dry ginger along with cardamom. I use fresh ginger sometimes, but the dry ginger is stronger and really gives you a kick of warmth.
A simple but delicious Chai recipe! I think that a lot of times we forget that there is a lot of beauty to be enjoyed in simple recipes. When you keep the ingredient list small, it really let's the individual flavors shine because nothing is being over shadowed.
I made my family hooked into chai. We are Vietnamese so our spice blend is what we use in pho (except black cardamom). I experimented for a day or two for our perfect blend and my family and I loved it. It reminds us of the comforting effects and slight aftertaste of pho but in tea form 😂.
I love chai, I mix 4 spices in mine, ginger, cardamom cinnamon and star anise 🫣I have never tried a cold one though, and the double boiling sounds cool
I do the same but I use little bit of nutmeg, crushed black pepper, only 1 cardamom pod, very-very little cinnamon and 1 inch crushed Ginger. Optional one can also use creamer!!!

I think replacing the milk with evaporated milk makes the chai tastier. I know this is not authentic Indian chai, but this is a common practice in the Middle East.
Blessings in an abundance of the faith. I salute you. 😘🙏Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. God bless you. Thank you. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and personal saviour??? I do. 😊
Do you have a specific brand/type of loose black tea you'd recommend? I know a lot of ppl use assam, but I wanted a nice quality black tea as a strong base. Also amazing video, I'm totally going to use it as soon as I have all of the ingredients.
Absolutely refreshing beverage. I drink this twice a day. And that takes 20 mins. Simmering with tea leaves for minimum 6-7 mins for one cup of tea is the key to absolutely gorgeous taste. Thanks for sharing this
And unless you have health issues, always make chai with whole or evaporated milk. It'll be so rich and delicious, trust me! 🥰 This is what I add in my karak chai mix: fennel, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorn, cardamom, chunk of fresh ginger and cloves
I don't know if in Indian homes anyone uses so much water. Actually from what I have seen, if there are no stomach issues, then no water is used at all. Using only milk brings out the real creamy rich after taste.
As an Indian in the UK, my family always makes this way of chai. But when I make it, it is never that nice brown colour. So can someone please let me know how to get this colour?
atleast someone who doesnt call it "chai tea" LIKE TF IS CHAI TEA..CHAI LITRALLY MEANS TEA SO IT GOES LIKE "TEA TEA"!?!?! istg say chai tea one more time n teri maa ki-
One thing that always bothered me with VPD (ah, feels wrong) was the way it always looked like they were actively devouring people's necks off, but it just left a cute lil bloody bite. Like, my man Damon always looks possessed having a seizure over his victims' necks but nah, they fine.
I always say chai tea because everyone says it even though I know better to call it Cha like in east Asia, Chai as the universal West Asian name, Masala Chai, Masala Tea, Spice Tea, or Indian Spice Tea instead of saying Tea Tea. It just comes out naturally from hearing it wrong all the time
Yup quite an interesting recipe for chai but what i do when im lazy is just pouring equal parts of water and milk then a spoonful of tea and let it cook for idk when the colour seems right 😁 i don't really like adding ginger unless i am coughing 😅
Hello Ramya! Which brand and type of black tea you recommend to get that beautiful golden/orange color? Is it better to purchase at an Indian supply store? Thank you and well done on the video and the explanation!
So there are two types of tea in the black tea category 1) fanning (whole leaf and long) 2) CTC (short for Crushed Tear and Curl) CTC is identifiable as small round texture like mustard seeds, that's what you need. Any CTC tea (especially if it's from Assam or Munnar region of India) will give you that rich color, taste and aroma

I would love some chai tea!
That double boil is the secret to the rich, almost custardy flavor of a great chai.
If they boil the tea leaves, that’s just plain tea abuse
@@janetownley it's strong indian black tea. it can withstand anything, a double boil is nothing 😅
@@janetownley No it's not. Because this is not leafy tea. This is black dust tea, it is to be boiled with milk.
I never double boil, now I'll.

If you go to a middle eastern or Indian store, you will be able to get a big package of the cardamom for a good price. I’ve had mine for a year. 😅
My recipe is very similar, just with a few extra stuff
How long do you steep the tea?
I use nutmeg, one black pepper corn and a hefty pinch of dry ginger along with cardamom. I use fresh ginger sometimes, but the dry ginger is stronger and really gives you a kick of warmth.
2 boils? I do at least 4. But then again my tea is to wake me up, amatuer chai drinkers who drink one cup once in a while will be fine.
I just tried this recipe and had to come back to comment how good it was, hands down my new favorite chai!
Same here! Added a stick of cinnamon too
Does it have a lot of cardamom flavore?
Did u use the tea from Amazon she suggested
I love adding rose petals, saffron and cinnamon to mine
Wait a minute.... Are you Persian?
ok rich fellow put gold also no

That's a lot of cardamom for one cup. I go for one pod for one cup. And only in winter. And it's cardamom, one clove bud and some smashed ginger.
In the video I made 3 cups of chai!
She didn't make only one cup though?
she made more than one, it's fine
Right,I would use like a 1/3 Rd of a pod.

Yup I do make chai that way but call it 'dood pati' دودہ پتی dood meaning milk pati meaning the tea grains or beans idk
Too much cardamom for one cup,btw add Cinnamon & Bay leaf too. Use condensed evaporated milk & "karak" tea liquor with Brown sugar.
You don't just double boil. It's 10x burn in hell half chai is gone boil.

What type of milk you use, raw, once boiled, or cold, or hot, or luke warm, or something else 😢
Great explanation of masala chai, especially the double boil.
Indian chai tea is the best. And you know I am right if you have ever even had a real one from a family not from fucking star bucks
Im too lazy. Go to indian store, ask if they have tea, buy some products in store, get tea for free 👍
That's a lot of cardamom, trust me just use 2nos for that amount, it will be enough..
It‘s such a pain to clean the pot after but it’s worth it 😭 also love that you pronounced it “chai-ah”
No disrespect to aunty but this is how chai is made everywhere except ice which is more north American concept
Everything was perfect but I hate iced tea so was really disappointed at that part 😅😅
Everything was good until you added ice... spoilt the whole mood of chai

Not a great recipe, because you should ideally add hot milk, not cold milk, to the water and tea.
Chai itself means Tea😂 dont say chai tea😅 for indians it sounds like you are saying chai chai
So frickinnnbgoiid literally the best I have made
Eww I can’t do more than one of those cardamom things, if I put more than one that’s all I can taste it that and not the tea
