- North Macedonia you've been incredible... but it's that time and Serbia, here we come.
There was an air of uncertainty about Serbia, was it safe and lots of what ifs? But, we were road-legal, prepared, and up for something new, what could possibly go wrong?
Travelling full-time is awesome although it has its challenges, particularly in late Autumn when the weather and light levels change, and boy are we feeling it, literally!

People have a lot of misconceptions and preconceived notions about many places, especially due to media disinformation. Serbia is a beautiful country that has never been "underdeveloped", despite the propaganda and everything it endured throughout history.
Very true and that's exactly why we like to go to these countries and see for ourselves.

We too had pre-conceived ideas about Serbia but have been there twice now on our way back from Bulgaria and it is vastly underrated ! Beautiful, clean with friendly people.

Hey both, funny you should mention the wind. It’s not since we set off on the van that I’ve been bothered that much by the wind but my goodness…. It’s something else in the van completely!!Occasionally I’ve felt quite vulnerable overnight and not much sleep has been had. Serbia is definitely on our list to visit. Loved Macedonia too . X
Hi Amanda, yeah you suddenly take note of wind direction/strength and somewhere to hide.
It always keeps me awake much more than heavy rain.

When I travel to far away places, I try and forget about the food/drink that im used to consuming at “Home” ( Ive been living in my Truck for 30 years!) adaptation creates survival of the fittest
I definitely agree with the "adaptation creates survival of the fittest" but we do enjoy a good cup of familiar tea. 😀👍🏻

Thanks for the video guys. It’s nice to see the seasons change as you head north. The colours look stunning. High Wind seems to be a bit of a theme at the moment as We’re currently being battered by 56mph gusts and wave overtops in Galway 😮. Re; teabags, it's hard to beat a good cup of Yorkshire tea, the Lord Nelson's are a 6/10
The numbers are going up but bloody hell it's slow going, I think we need a change in direction so the timing is pretty good. 🙏😀

We got flagged down by traffic police in Serbia as well, but he gave up when he walked to the "wrong side of the vehicle", i.e. right hand drive, and we greeted him in English. We'll be crossing into N/Macedonia tomorrow from Pogradec. Somewhat anxious about the insurance cost; I hope we can get away with "motorhome rate" and not "truck rate".
Hope you got thru ok. Looking up the insurance rate (hope to drive to Greece next year) it looks as tho it's down to weight not classification so if you're above 3.5t (?) it's more expensive. Good luck!
Yeah, I think that was probably why he let us off, it was too much hassle.
Hopefully, you'll get somebody who gets it. Our interaction was pretty rigid, although she did type our chassis number into the system, which obviously told her it was a truck.
She insisted it was government policy. Good luck.
@@TheGapDecaders We were lucky, I think. She started with "Iveco is a truck", I showed her a picture of "Benny goes Overland" who drives a Mercedes Vario, and who said they got away with €50. In the end, we paid €50. Phew

Haha Yorkshire T bags.. such a crucial part of full timing eh! We left the UK in July back next June and thought 600 T bags would cover it! And of course you can use them twice !! .. hope those substitute T bags aren’t too bad !!😂
Absolutely, we worked out back in August that we had to use one tea bag for two cups which was fine (cos it's Yorkshire tea), but defo poor calculations on someone’s part.
But remember... There's is a no-blame culture 😉😂👍🏻

its a good job you didn't have to carry the wine for the whole trip, and unlike Tea can be topped up from local supplies as you go. You saw family not that long ago, did they not bring re-supplies of Tea?

Yeah fabulous architecture in Serbia, there is a certain style, particularly the roofs.
We're keen to go back, there's an area in the southwest called the Nacionalni National Park, (Google the - Drina River House) which is our kind of place.

I really enjoy your videos and would very much like to do the trip that you are doing in our vehicle! We also have a composting toilet but I was very disappointed to see you emptying the pee pot on camera. You may not be aware but in areas that are trying to stop or reduce wild camping one of the biggest arguments against vanlifers was 'what do they do with their toilet waste'? And then they produce photos and videos of people dumping toilets or worse images of the dumped waste. One example of this was the Algarve in Portugal about 7 years ago when the residents were trying to stop vanlifers and their campaign went on for months. The toilet theme was always high on the list of objections. Personally I would prefer it if you edited out this sequence but of course it is your choice what you do but please consider the consequences of this type of video. Having owned a number of motorhomes with cassette toilets and having toured Portugal extensively, particularly the Algarve, I get and have seen the disgraceful behavior specifically with toilet waste, and fully understand the local's upset.
We consider ourselves to be responsible and respectful full-time travellers and for the majority of our time, enjoy the vast open spaces such as Mavrovo National Park.
Like you, we've chosen to separate it, but the truth is we all pee and poo along with the hundreds if not thousands of wild and domesticated animals that roam in the out of the way places we prefer. In these countries, it's a common sight to see men stop by the roadside and have a pee, with nobody blinking an eye.
We are incredibly aware of when and where we empty the urine, and in this particular instance it had been raining all night and continued to rain. As an ex building inspector I could work out the dilution rate but that would be silly.
I suppose my point to your well-intended comment is that the pee has to go somewhere, and without causing offense to locals, harming nature, or polluting water courses, that seemed like an ideal spot.
I get that there is a time and a place, but there is equally a reality of life on the road and I don't feel this was an irresponsible action.
I sincerely hope you appreciate my response, and maybe we can chat about it over a beer sometime. 🙏😀

My only concern is the perception that others could interpret from this and how it could be used to argue against van lifers in general. But it is your video and your call.
