  • Hellooo there friends! This song was suggested by ‪@buddysaile973‬! Dave really seemed to be enjoying everything until the keyboard solo and then after that, it was all about the keyboard solo.
Thanks for the great suggestion Buddy!

Ah, I'm so glad you guys enjoyed this! This song was from Steven's solo album "Hand. Cannot. Erase." His studio musicians back in 2015 were Marco, Adam, Nick, and Guthrie, so there was a big difference on the original recording and the live version. If there was a guitarist that could follow that solo, Guthrie was certainly the guy you would want. I'll include two minutes of footage of just the guitar solo below that was shot in studio as a promo. It is emotionally stirring to say the least, and perfectly complimentary to Adam's movement. Maybe something you guys might enjoy in your own time. Adam certainly did steal the show with his Moog solo though, fusion players certainly are in a class all their own. That album is a masterpiece, inspired by Joyce Vincent a young Englishwoman who met an untimely end and wasn't discovered in her apartment for over two years. On a lighter note, this video on YT inspired one of the funniest comments I've ever seen posted and its about Nick Beggs. And I quote, "So good to see Steven let his grandma play bass" 😂😂🤣😂
All the best to you both! Aristocrats on Tuesday, Wooot!

GREAT post! Said the same thing on a substack post a while back.
"Most of the time I am attracted to much more epic outings. That said, I think that THIS is THE solo of 21st century.
Listen to the whole song. The lead up and introductory keyboard solo sets up Guthrie’s solo. The stellar keyboard performance builds a tension by way of musical challenge. Then up steps Guthrie like some kind of massive growling beast. The guy is such a boss! It swells and builds and spirals upward to that final trailing note! Now THAT is how you do an epic solo! The presentation by Steven Wilson sets the table perfectly for this kind bad-assery. Listen to the whole thing Home Invasion/Regret #9

@@betbuk a banger from start to finish. The build up to the solos is almost as good as the payoff itself. Well said my friend!

Such a shame you listened to the live version first. Please check out the album version. The keyboard solo is sublime.

The keyboardist, Adam Holzman, is the son of Jac Holzman, the founder of Elektra Records. He was in the room as a child listening to the greats record albums on his father's label, including Miles Davis and Ray Manzarek of The Doors. His posts on Facebook include stories of his experiences as a child seeing the production of various albums. Hey, maybe some reactions to The Doors should be on the plate?

You really should review the studio version from the album Hand. Cannot. Erase where Holtzman’s solo is even better and then followed by Guthrie Goven on guitar, who’s solo is even better still!

Lovin' it! lol Finally someone gets how good that solo was! I have seen and heard quite a few reactions to this track and noone else has ever appreciated it anywhere near where it deserved to be!
I actually love the guitar solo as well, but Alex Hutchins is always more of an emotive player and I love his feel for all of the solos during this show.
If you want to hear more from this concert of a similar feel from this stunning line up, you could do any of the following: "Detonation" (the 2nd/instrumental half) The 1st half - a little like this track we just heard - is cool, but fades into distant obscurity once Adam and Alex get started! "Vermillion Core" - pure instrumental and just sheer brilliance, but "Ancestral" is the bomb. If you havent reacted to this one yet Dave - do yourself a favour. All 3 need to be from the LIVE DVD of course and all 3 just leave me breathless they are SO good!
    Love your work!
Keep the Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree coming....
OO oo - I forgot to mention "Song of I" - this is Stevens time to shine on this track. I have never seen or heard anyone react to it and it is gobsmacking powerful.

Loved it too! This whole concert was so incredible to see live from the third row. Unreal acoustics and the track list was superb

On the actual album track the Guthrie guitar solo launches like a boss dragon. It’s the best solo of this century. Listen and watch Marco and Guthrie. Hard to top it.

Love this one! Hahaha! That's great, right! I saw this live with Guthrie Govan doing the guitar solo. He's the guitar player on the recording of this song. And with Marco Minnemann on drums. Also on the album recording. But yes that keyboard was still the star!

This is good, but the live version of the yahoo concert with Dave Kilminster on guitar is way better.
