This song is so hard to listen to for me. I tragically lost my son in 2016, and I chose this song at His service. For a moment while my eyes were closed and crying, the room got very bright, and then It was gone. I know what I believe and one day I will see my Shayne again. Thank you for spotlighting this one.
Clapton has such beautiful vibrato. Its like butter , so smooth. Its very breathy and subdued. This song is not a hard range but to have the feeling and technique that Clapton has is hard to duplicate. Any good singer can sing these notes but the delivery, style and passion is something that only Eric has.
This song will always remind me of my dad. He did love this song. I was going to check on him with my sister because we were told something was wrong with him and I remember this song comming on while we were heading down and at that moment I knew he was gone. He passed away almost 13 years ago and I still miss him and can't listen to this song without thinking of him.
Eric Clapton is one of the first names, which comes to mind when asked about a guitar player, he himself not being a spectacular virtuoso. May be his greatness lies not in technical skills, but in what he has done for the industry and other (greater) guitar players
There was no one better in the 60's.Im talking musical expertise. No one including Hendrix had a greater influence on future soon to be rock super stars.
*One of the best acoustic riffs ever! ♥️ I still remember the day I almost managed to play "Tears in heaven" after weeks of hectic practise.....🔥 You just can't listen to this song without a heavy heart ♥️*
oh dear, that video made me cry! Probably because I gave birth 3 weeks ago to my second son an just a thought something bad would happen to him can put me in tears! Great reaction tough, Ken! :)
Thanks for covering this song. It's such a beautiful but heartbreaking song. I remember seeing Eric do it on MTV Unplugged and it just broke your heart hurt he sounded. I'm glad he found God. I pray he is reunited with his son in heaven. This songs still makes me tear up. Eric is one of my most favorite singer/songwriters. Thanks again.
Amen brother! This life is not all there is. Unbelievable that you did this video reaction today. Our new next door neighbors came home Monday night to discover their 20 yr old (only son) to have died unexpectedly in the house. My heart has been absolutely breaking for them. This song is beautiful and it speaks to our hearts in ways that we can't quite describe. There will be no tears or mourning in heaven. God bless you and your family brother!
Eric Clapton is a genius artist, and such an inspiring guitarist, I was so excited when I got the notification! I love this song too, it's so beautiful and sad, and I cried when I first read the story about his son. To me, this is what music all about, no more or less: When people infuse the sound with their thoughts and emotions so much that a stranger far away can feel it when they hear it. The artists I love best are the ones that can do exactly that, and it's what I've always wanted to do. Thank you for sharing, Ken!
I never thought about it that way at 1:18, to me it always sounded like he was saying he doesn't belong in Heaven because it wasn't his time to go. I love this song, so delicate.
this may be the best vocal reaction you have ever done. The song makes me miss our son that's away from home serving right now. Makes me appreciate having him in our lives and how precious life is. It can be fleeting. Gods loves endures forever and so does his promises.
Such a beautiful song...it has me in tears every time, and it's one of my favorites. Thank you so much for sharing your reactions to this one. Truly legendary.
This song gets me every time as I lost my 27 year old son . He was a police officer and he was murdered. Not an easy road and my heart goes out to anyone who has lost a child as it is a very very hard thing to deal with.
There is no escaping the fact that your one of the best if not the best vocal instructor on UA-cam, and your videos are a joy to experience my friend..
I got goosebumps, when I saw what song you were going to react to. I remember when this came out, and I would listen to it and cry. It's hard to listen to. What beautiful words he wrote. I don't know how you write a song, about your son's death. I hope it helped him in his healing. What a talented soul he is.
Songs like this are really outstanding and unique. No parents should ever experience the death of their own child as it will leave the biggest scar in your heart. May god bless all of you and especially those who had to experience such tragedy. Thanks for sharing! Great song, great analysis!
Just horrible what happened to his son. Breaks my heart hearing this song. So happy to hear he became a child of christ. And he will see his son again now. Just puts a smile on my face. Thanks so much for the information and great review. Godbless all and be safe.
Thanks for another great video, Ken! I remember when Clapton's son passed away, and, of course, I remember when this song came out. Such an incredibly beautiful song. Thanks for all you do! ~Sam
Everything I own💞 Ken Tamplin I am blown away. I now have a desire to see you live in concert. That was beautiful Sorry, love Clapton, but I got lost in your bread cover.
He’s an excellent guitarist! This song is got wrenching and I also like “ my father’s eyes” Omgosh!!! You’re singing a song that I love growing up as a kid.. Great job! The song by David Gates- good morning my dad died from pancreatic cancer in 2007. I didn’t ever take him for granted but the man was in such good shape and health at 61 that we never thought he would get you. I didn’t ever take him for granted but the man was in such good shape and health at 61 that we never thought he would get ill. He was 62 years old and running 6 miles a day and in better shape than most 25-year-old man. Cancer picks and chooses.
KEN! ROCKING OUT SOME BREAD ON THE ACOUSTIC!!!!!! AWESOME KEN You really owned it Ken you sounded amazing, kinda like you wrote the song your self! Love the reaction video on Eric Clapton, he's one of my many favorite artists. Of all his albums he's done from different bands, his solo album Unplugged really hit home to me.
This song really hits at home with recent events for me, I lost my Dad to suicide back in July of this year and this song just really resonates with me in this time of grieving. Thank you for making a video on this Ken, Its such a beautiful and Moving song!
Knowing the story behind this song, makes it even more beautiful and touching. I believe when you write a song out of an influence from things related to God or to God himself in the deepest and most honest way you can(even if you're not even a Christian), it can give us unique feelings that we cannot find in any other songs related to anything else. I believe God doesn't waste any chance to make you feel how it would be if you could fully feel his presence, even if it's a small chance in a song you enjoy that had no intention to be labeled as a Christian song.
When u sing, Ken, i see some shine on your face but when you grabbed your guitar, this shine gets stronger and brighter (sry, i have not the right words but i hope you understand what i'm meaning) and that suits you really good. Please do this more often. Greetings from Germany.

This song is sad but also beautiful! I, too, remember when Eric's son died too. I'm glad that Eric gave his life to Christ and know that he will see his son again one day. God bless you too, man! Your video was awesome. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us. 😊👍

This video was 12 minutes 25 seconds of pure expression. I LOVE Cream!! I only heard this song by Eric, in passing, I didn't have the heart for it. Such a tragic loss, I would have came home and jumped from the same spot instantly! Great Bread reference, they have a few songs that give me chills. Another video proving you Ken, are a beautiful soul!!!
The longer I practice and listen to my singing, the more I admire stars like Travis Tritt or Eric Clapton. They knows how to use accurately measure the short gravel in their voice. And other voice textures. It's only a few hundredths of a second in a single note. But can break the heart for a years.
Hi. At about 9.54 you said that truth is, none of us belong in heaven. It wasn't ten seconds before that I was thinking the exact same thing. Then you said it. Wow. Powerful. 56 here, and new to you. Great analysis Ken, a song born of heartache, we have all been touched by the subject matter what a brilliantly expressive song, just says it all. Thanks for the work and effort you put into your critique, bringing us all this amazing stuff. Great job. 👍😀.
Amazing Video And reaction Ken! I have to say almost every time i try to perform this song i cry as the lyrics are so power full so i say as well! Totally enjoy this one my friend thanks for playing everything i own as well .. amazing David Gates tune love all his music as well as Clapton's :)
Yep! Amazing song!! Great reaction Ken! I love how you’re so respectful and so truthful with all your reactions. Always such a pleasure to watch and learn from you! \😀/
Clapton is such a great singer - the tone, the different textures, the pitch, the emotional content. He sure can belt and growl too on the album ‘from the cradle’ (as seen in Scorsese’s recently re-released ‘nothin but the blues’). There’s only a few people that can sing AND play that well. What a great and important messenger for the blues.
First of all, I loved that you gave us a bit of that Bread tune -- so good !! Tears in Heaven - man -- it's such a pure example of love. I dont know how he gets through playing it. God bless*
Not a singer and new to your channel. Clicked because I enjoy Clapton and music in general. You have such a positive outlook on life and appreciate the art of music. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and the talent of your singing. Subbed!
@8:30 ughhh you're speaking to my soul Ken!! I love new music nowadays but i hate how shallow lyrics are. I love to listen to guys like Ed Sullivan, The Beatles, and Eric Clapton (because im a sucker for guitar solos) and not any one of the newer artists can write lyrics that cut as deep as these older guys.
I think I might have got Ken all wrong. My first experience with Ken Tamplin was his 'How to sing like Freddie Mercury' video...all those years ago. I think I might have left a less than kind comment and decided this guy had nothing to offer. Fast forward to today. Either accidentally, or otherwise, I've seen a lot of Ken's videos on UA-cam and, you know what, I'm now sure that I was wrong. If you ignore the videos designed to get views (and who can blame him for that!), and do a deep dive into his instructional stuff, then you'll have no choice but to come to the same conclusion as I; Ken Tamplin is the real deal! Ken, rock on dude and thank you for making so much of your wisdom freely available.
First here!! And yes that's an amazing song, a musician friend said "you could probably play the guitar like Eric Clapton, but no one can sing like him...I guess it is true, if you had the talent of a hundred super talents in one body, worked your butt off practicing the guitar like a hundred hours a day, you probably could play like him, but no one could ever sing like him. Tears in heaven is possible if your hurt is so deep that only music could bring it out. Hey Ken, bro could you do your version of this song?? Please!
Ohh but you can! Join Ken Tamplin's Vocal Academy to learn how to sing better than anyone else! ;) jk..I know it takes a personal hurt and situation of the heart, like what Clapton went thru to get that kind of singing and song writing.

Please!
Thanks, kiran!
Ohh but you can! Join Ken Tamplin's Vocal Academy to learn how to sing better than anyone else! ;)
jk..I know it takes a personal hurt and situation of the heart, like what Clapton went thru to get that kind of singing and song writing.
You're such a good singer.🤗
This was really great mate. Lovely sentiment all round.
thanks for being true Ken and not watering The Good News down!
You bet, Tomas!
Thank God for His grace 👍🏼
