Hey BBP, not sure if you know about this or not but you can add captions to a video so you can just write the detailed list of operations there and they will pop up in the video. (Then it's up to the viewer if they want to see that info or not). I'm not sure how you do it currently but maybe it will save you some time? Just a thought! :)

Nice work. However, as a working saddle maker for nearly 50 years, I would recommend anyone wanting to make a round knife, is just copy what has been made for donkey's years, and leave it at that. For the serious user in heavier leather, the knife should have a gentle convex grind from well into the blade out to the edge, on both sides. These heavy short bevels I see being ground on round knives would possibly be fine in light leather, but I couldn't imagine them in the heavy stuff, say 4mm and thicker. I am constantly into harness leather , sole leather etc, and one needs all the help one can get. The outer two points are very important for accurate cutting , and are best a little wider than the knife is round , so to speak. Handle needs to taper from butt to ferrule, because when laying the knife down to skive, flanges will be a hindrance. Please yourselves, no skin off my nose. I have more than fifty round knives , some going back a century, and all different makers. They all have the features I have mentioned, because that is what works, in all types of leather!

You need a mortiser for your drill press,to make rectangular holes for the tangs. It's like a hollow chisel with a drill bit in the middle. Look it up,they are cool as hell and been around for about a hundred years or so.

    • @cocon16_PW

How do you decide whether to use hand tools or power tools? You used a hand saw, to cut the blank, for the handle but then you used a band saw to cut off the end, after the lathe work.
