    The Simpsons Movie Movie Description:
    The Simpsons Movie is a 2007 American animated comedy film based on the Fox animated sitcom The Simpsons. The film was directed by the show's supervising director David Silverman and stars the show's regular cast of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Tress MacNeille, Pamela Hayden, Karl Wiedergott, Marcia Wallace, Maggie Roswell, Russi Taylor, and Joe Mantegna reprising their roles and Albert Brooks as the film's main antagonist, Russ Cargill, head of the EPA. The film follows Homer Simpson, who irresponsibly pollutes the lake in Springfield, causing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to imprison the town under a giant glass dome. After he and his family escape, they ultimately abandon Homer for his selfishness and return to Springfield to prevent the town's demolition by Cargill. Homer works to redeem his folly by returning to Springfield himself in an effort to save it.
    Although previous attempts to create a Simpsons film had been made, they failed due to the lack of a script. Eventually in 2001, producers James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, Mike Scully and Richard Sakai began development on the film and a writing team consisting of Brooks, Groening, Jean, Scully, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder and Jon Vitti were assembled. They conceived numerous plot ideas, with Groening's being the one adapted. The script was rewritten over a hundred times, also continuing after work on the animation began in 2006. Consequently, hours of finished material was cut from the final release, including cameo roles from Erin Brockovich, Minnie Driver, Isla Fisher, Edward Norton, and Kelsey Grammer, who would have reprised his role as Sideshow Bob. Tom Hanks and the members of Green Day voice their own animated counterparts in the final cut of the film, while Albert Brooks, a frequent guest performer on the series, provides the voice of its main antagonist, Russ Cargill.
    The Simpsons Movie received positive reviews and grossed $536.4 million worldwide, becoming the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2007, the second-highest-grossing traditionally animated film (behind Walt Disney Animation Studios' The Lion King), and the highest-grossing film based on an animated television series. The film received praise for its humor, emotional weight, and callbacks to early seasons. The film was nominated for numerous awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 65th Golden Globe Awards.

    Homer was usually played as an immature, but also caring father in early seasons, especially in the pilot episode. But through the years they started making him so dumb it's more irritating than entertaining. Much like they did with Ned Flanders, changing his personality from a more sympathetic neighbor to an exaggeratedly religious person

      Similar to Family Guy. Peter and Lois were decent parents with Meg but as the seasons went on the "shut up Meg" and horrible parenting became an annoying staple of the show. And the few times Meg gets some sort of happiness it's taken from her usually from her parents (like romantic interests). There's a little less of that nonsense in recent seasons but it still exists. One of my favorite episodes is when Meg went to jail and the storming because she told everyone off. Another complaint I've seen is how Joe and Bonnie went from a likeable couple to 1950s "boomer joke" but not really a joke about disliking or hating their marriage. Cleveland and his new wife are basically background characters even though their family is rather interesting and better version of the Griffins.

    • @primepm8861

      Tbf, I think they started making Homer to be less of a jerkass in the recent seasons. But it's impossible to tell with how much the show has changed now. I'm worried that Marge's voice actress is running on fumes.
      And frankly everybody on Family Guy has devolved into horrible people. I think the Meg bashing has shifted slightly to Brian now.

    In the TV-PG edit, Bart Simpson's area was given a big black bar with the words 'EUROPEAN (You're-a Peein') VERSION ONLY.' I found that even funnier than the theatrical version.

    • @elijahvincent985
      @elijahvincent985 Місяць тому +1

      Side note: Bart's on-screen junk was the sole reason this film was rated PG-13. The content outside of the one clip, including Homer's double finger, was still considered appropriate for a PG rated animated film, which is what the creators originally aimed for. Fun fact very few parents understand about the PG rating: middle fingers *ARE* allowed, and even now, still allowed to have just one F-word, based on the 1976 MPAA rule established after the movie "All the President's Men" was released with an appealed PG rating, despite 11 F-words. This rule remains in effect, even after the 1984 establishment of the PG-13 rating and the 1990 addition of content descriptions for films rated PG and above.

    One of the wildest things about this movie was that the creators refused to reveal anything about the plot prior to the release. Everyone was certain that they'd crack eventually, or at least that people would be able to figure it out once the trailer came out, but nope! The trailers and clips included moments like spider pig, stuck between a rock and a hard place, the motorcycle in the cage, the sled dogs, and Homer revving the chainsaw. It was absolutely impossible to piece together a coherent plot from it. 😂

    As for the Family Guy movie, there was sort of one. It wasn't so much a movie though, as it was a three-part television special that was edited into a movie for the DVD release of said episodes. Rather than those episodes releasing on the appropriate season box set.

    My family was military when I was growing up, and we were actually stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska when this came out! Saw it in theaters and everything! Was incredibly surreal when Homer randomly decided they were going to go to Alaska. It's a nicer place than you'd think! And yes, residents of Alaska *do* get free cash.

    The evil kinevil scene was a throwback to old episodes involving that same area of Springfield; Springfield Gorge that also involved trying to drive some sort of vehicle/bike over it.
