I was 15 years old when I got this album in 1994 and when I listened to this song after years, huge emotions took over my mind. Thank you for this moment on my way to my youth.
Considering that I listen to this song for the first time over 25 years ago I really don't remember if I've found these transitions abrupt or not, today I know what's coming next so it is no problem at all. What I remember from that first time listening to it is that I've loved it, actually I've loved all of the "Skydancer" album.
Stanne was never a member of In Flames, he just helped them on "Lunar Strain" because they didn't have a vocalist at the time. When Andes left DT to join IF Stanne changed from guitar to vocals (not sure if he still played guitar on "The Gallery" ir not).
0:49 And "Jesus" did vocals on In Flames' first album Lunar Strain, because they were still looking for a vocalist. What a twist in this melodeath Gothenburg family.
First steps in the changing period with At The Gates and Carcass. The abrupts moments for me are part of the steps to a more broad sound. You have to begin somewhere! Vernal Awakening!
You dont do much research of bands? I though you already knew this. Skydancer is their best album. Check out shadow duet song. Where Anders and Mikael do back and forth singing. Its very amazing and they were so young at the time.

Skydancer 1993! Stanne and Frieden! One of the first song's I heard from them! This album and The Gallery made me a fan instantly.
