I’ve done a low buy for 3 years. 2023 I bought one item all year and I didn’t even realise how little I had shopped as I still have so much. But Ive found myself actually using more make up as not overwhelmed by my collection and not always looking at what’s being realised. I watch a lot of content on project pans, duping the vibes, why you want need X product and I watch old vidoes featuring a pallet I already have. I watch your “one palette x amount of looks” vidoes all the time for inspo! Xx
That’s such a great tip. What are the best channels to watch for low buy/project pan or duping vibes/shop your stash content? Just wondering if there’s any good content I’m missing out on.
Hannah Louise Poston does amazing dupe the vibes with her singles and has a whole year of no buy vidoes. Charlotte Holdcroft does a series called “you don’t need any of that” which is great for thinking about new releases. Sarah Rose has years of project panning. As does Rebecca Morgan. Lauren Mae Beauty has done duping, shop my stash and project pan.
This is 100% correct. You will where makeup more often if you have a small collection that you actually use. I don’t buy anything until I run out. I will make a list of things I want to try. When I run out of something I will pick something from the list to try next. I will make an exception if I hate the product I buy.
Oh my God! I started to be so proud of my no by last years succes in 2023. But 5 years! Congrats on it! I am happoy I didn't brig new things in, but also realized I still have so.much. I can not even think of getting rid of things, since I still like everything what I have.
I needed this. I’m with you. My collection is shamefully large, mainly due to my wanting the ‘next best thing’ but also buying backups of things I use and like but end up moving onto the ‘next best thing’ by the time the one I’m using is done, or I’m bored. I’m breaking this nonsense this year.
This seems to be an even bigger intention this year than before in the beauty UA-cam community. Very appropriate as a lot of us overconsumed beauty past few years. With you on this!
I was doing really well for most of 2022, until Lisa Eldridge bought her eyeshadow palettes out and since then, I fell right back into my old habits. However I had also just got diagnosed with ADHD which was quite depressing & made things worse for a lot of last year. Now I have some medication which helps control my impulsive behaviours, & I'm learning new behaviours & coping techniques. Plus, Kimberly Clarke is back doing a how to stop shopping in 5 easy steps! (My problem isn't just beauty products, or clothes etc it seems to be everything from tech to music😊). So hopefully, with yourself, Kimberly, and all these other supporting things, I should be able to go on a no-buy and actually start using & enjoying the things I have. 🤞🏻
What a great game plan ✨I have an insane amount of beauty products everywhere in the house. It’s been a while since I’ve done a no-buy being a sucker for a great deal also. Just panning isn’t enough. Let me join you in your quest for using up your stuff and saving some much needed extra cash
Totally with you and others on this. Maybe someone has mentioned it but everyone watch Kimberly Clark’s 5 steps to stop buying if you need help! I won’t run out of eyeshadows and blush for years and I definitely have a years worth of foundation and around three for lipsticks. And they are all the same colours… Its more impressive you are doing this as a UA-camr. More people need to show leadership in this area rather than continuing to peddle overconsumption. We can still love makeup, we don’t have to buy more.
Here is my tip. If I see something I really really want I go put it in my cart but I’m not allowed to purchase it until the next day. If I feel just as excited as I was the day before then I go ahead and buy it. 99.9 percent of the time I am not as excited the next day and end up not buying it. Most things people buy are impulse purchases. I watch way too many makeup videos and when I see a UA-camr get really excited about a product then it gets me excited and I really want to buy it. I’m not doing it anymore because I can’t afford it with the way the economy is now.
Someone told me they wish they could buy a pallet and before I could say anything they said do you know how long I would have to work just to get that pallet? Perspective 👀🤯
I am on a makeup no buy (replacements only) 7+ years. I did one project pan, and while I was doing it I was not allowed to buy any makeup, and that is how my makeup no buy started. This year I am doing a toiletries no buy and I hope this will start RONB for all things cosmetics. We will see. In january so far I used up 6 products, and bought nothing.
I started a replacements only no buy for makeup and fragrance in about October, and I gave myself a quick break from it this month (mostly to replace my skin care I ran out of), and my goal is to go until my birthday in May. I have been performing more (which is when I use the most makeup), but I have so much stuff that I am not worried aout running out. My biggest issue is still eyeshadow, singles or palettes, which I hardly ever use. But swatching the pretty colors and the shiny and sparkly things make me so happy, so they aren't going to waste. I often find myself adding brow products, lip glosses, and mascaras to orders in order to reach free shipping because I can actually use those up pretty quickly, so I have way more than I need. I am also in a place where I will have no problem getting rid of things if they don't work. I used to make myself use something even if it was a pain to use (Catholic penance for buying it I suppose), now I will let it go if it is annoying.
I would definitely be interested in hearing how long your stock actually lasts compared to your estimates! I know even for more normal day to day items I can still underestimate how long stuff lasts so an update comparing nearer the end of your low buy could be really interesting (i also think hearing numbers is fun 🤓). Me and my eye primer that is never ending….
I’ve done the same thing… stocked up on staples like lipgloss and Mascara while on sale in 2023 and not letting myself buy cosmetics until Sephora’s 20% off sale in April if I ‘need’ something… that’s just three months away and will allow me time to work my way through complexion products. I’ll save my haul spending spree for Black Friday after I’ve reached my personal savings goal for the year. My greatest weakness is skincare from YesStyle… the sale clocks and stackable coupons and rewards keeps me shopping again and again and I need to stop!!! ❤
Yeah, this is a great idea! I got into a COVID superbuy mode....need to definitely calm down and stop buying stuff I don't need!!! EDIT: as I'm reading more comments, I noticed a lot of people have been doing mindless buying the last couple of years. It's heartbreaking. I wonder why it's so commonplace?
I think it’s definitely a symptom of that. I know we ended up upgrading a lot during that time because we were bored and weren’t going out so we prioritized small luxuries and being comfortable in our home
Sounds like you have such a good plan for your no-buy, which I think is the most important thing to ensure people stick to them. If my products aren't out in view, I forget what I have in backups, so last year I wrote a list and stuck it on the back of my bedroom door to remind me of what I have and where to find it. It was very helpful in using up items! Last year I went on a bit of a spending spree with buying new clothes, so I'm trying to declutter/donate/turn into rags some old things this year. I got 4 new pairs of PJs at Christmas so last week went through my PJs and donated about 8 things to a charity. Felt really good to pull everything out and "check in" with myself as to whether I still liked the item or not, and if I would wear them again.
Hi Kat! I haven’t bought makeup since April’23. The only exceptions were ND Yucca and Oden’s Eye. I’m cutting out buying those brands as well this year. I keep my liquid and cream foundations in the refrigerator so they don’t go bad. That would be a waste of money. I’m just over it all right now. Now I have to do the same thing with fragrance. I’m 74…..I can’t possibly use everything I have before I die!😮 I just retired. I don’t even wear makeup every day anymore. I still love watching all the videos and will continue. They make me happy. I can dupe any look I see with all the makeup I own. I will always love makeup! You are inspiring me today!💛💛
I'm with you on this philosophy. Actually, I've been low buying since Black Friday 2023, which was very difficult lol. The compulsion to buy is so unhealthy that I even bought some clothes and then returned them, that is, for the simple pleasure of putting them in the shopping cart and receiving the order. When the compulsion strikes again, I will remember how bad it was having to return the items for the simple fact of having to go to the post office and not having time available. Now in 2023 I plan to buy and use what I already have, with the exception of the two glaminatrix rich romantic and nearly neutrals palettes that we will have this year. These are palettes that I've been wanting for a long time. After that, no more makeup and no more skincare, as I must have about 10 sunscreens in stock lol. For me, 10 eyeshadow palettes and the rest of the makeup I own is way more than enough. My money also doesn't allow me to throw it away when it expires.
I’m doing the same this year, my makeup & skincare is too much. I spent a fortune mindlessly purchasing, would love to spend that money on a holiday and take my 2 boys away abroad this year❤ We can do this!!xx
I think I'd drive myself crazy if I tried to do a no-buy. Definitely trying a low-buy again (at least for makeup), and trying to avoid buying palettes.
I have been doing a low buy for years now. Actually, since I started watching you, about 5 years ago. I mostly buy stuff when I need them or to stock up on sales. I am actually at my lowest amount of products but I did buy 9 Kaleidos lipsticks since I was actually left with 4, so now I am at 13. I was fortunate to find Beaty UA-cam when I had to furnish our house or get married and my kids, so money was going on other stuff, so I never accumulated a gazillion of products. I think, at my worst I had 7 palettes and 5 foundations but my biggest regret was buying a Revolution palette. I realized what quality means after that. Kisses.
I started a complete replacement only no buy at the end of October 23. It's been going well so far. Not bought any makeup, but still had about 20 new items come into my collection through gifts and giveaways over X-mas. Not mad about it though. Am keen to really save some money and get some good use out of the things I own. I have enough product to get me through until the end of 2024 I think, at least. Good luck on your no buy!
I love this! I'm on a no buy this year too. Last year I started a project when I used all my eyeshadow palettes at least three times in a row and then decided if they were keepers or not. I'm down to 16 palettes(still a lot) and challenging myself to really dig in and use them and if it's not love, then they need to go to someone who will. I'm really only wanting to keep what I love and use!
I‘m on a no buy challenge myself as I’m having way too much stuff. The only exception is mascara (only if I’m using one up) and eyebrow stuff, same thing for this category. I want to use up my makeup before i buy more.
I love this, what an excellent idea! I too plan to do a makeup no-buy for 2024 until Black Friday, as a means of working out exactly which 2024 releases I would/ could benefit from. I have eyeshadow palettes that may include some duped colours, which I should confirm and avoid further duplication in 2024. I intend to make a spreadsheet of the colours I have, list all the individual colours as matched to Pantone shades, creating a common reference point AND to record their ingredients and expiry dates. Using the colour database, I'll try to 'dupe the vibes' of new releases with my existing eyeshadows and see if there are any must have 2024 shades.
Hi Kat, loving your shirt and nail color combo! I was doing well until the after holiday sales. Clothes, skin & body care, nail colors...🙈 I've got to rein myself in. So for the rest of the year I'm only allowing myself to buy ONE item off my wishlist each season. I'm in the US, so Winter's purchase is more than done. Now nothing until late spring (for my birthday), then in mid-summer, etc. Commenting this to help hold myself accountable. 🙃
I am on a low buy as well. Have to pay off some credit cards and my house needs some work. So I will indulge in my fav brand only with the occasional purchase at a minimum 40% off.
I also want to save some money, but I’ve decided to do a Low-Buy and give myself a few exceptions (a budget, a wishlist, a rule book…) because if I tell myself “no” I will throw the towel because I’m a contrary human and fully denying myself something is the quickest way of getting me to push back.
I'm going on a serious No Buy this year, in preparation for my husband making good on his threat to retire in May when he turns 62. I want to challenge myself to only buy replacements for items I use regularly, and stop being such an impulse buy crow, every time I see something shiny 🙈
I’m gonna have to join you on this one with the same scheme because i find I love Black Friday deals and that’s when I spend most money. Plus the usual cult beauty advent calendar that also helps me stock up on things. I may end up buying serums and toners because I don’t have any left but for the rest I should be set. Ideally. Hopefully. It’s always a struggle in the beginning months.
I’m starting a low buy now as well. I just bought a car yesterday, so my car-payment-free years are gone now. I’m going to have to be very selective on what I buy. I’m going to try and switch to drug store brands on certain products once my higher end ones are used (like blushes, bronzers, lipstick). I refuse to give up buying my NARS foundation and ND palettes (will limit myself to just one this year, if it’s one I would actually use and I will wait for sales, not purchase on launch day).
I appreciate what you are doing and am going to do the same in 2024. I'm going to try to use up all my older products that are cream or foundations, and not bring anything new in because I have multiples of all the categories. I need to play with what I have and enjoy it instead of looking for the shiny new thing. And really focus on saving money in 2024 as well.
Thanks for this video,Kat! In a recent assessment of all my accumulated skincare products, I realised that I have WAY too much and in some cases, I’m in a situation where some of the products will expire before I can use them😞. I have too many backups, for sure! This year, I’ve also committed to use up what I have and to shop my stash rather than always be looking for the next best deal! This kind of content helps me to keep my focus on loving and using what I already have, so thank you!
Gwp get me everytime 😢 but in 2023 I behaved way better than in previous years. I go through my dozens of skincare backups and realise I have so many already ...
Woah, you can use a sheet mask every third day for a whole year... what a treatment! Thank you for sharing this. I hope it will encourage many others, too. I hit pan on a shade after 4 years. It is my perfect skintone-blend-out powder eyeshadow from an H&M palette :D I am very proud of myself. I also noticed that since lockdown I have been always restocking my stash in Black Fridays and in the post-Christmas sales. I just hauled a huge box from Space NK (recurring skincare), their January sale is twice as good as a Black Friday. Btw it was beauty UA-camrs content who made me realize I could actually stock up for years during a sale from my power products: lotion, cleanser, SPF, brow pencil! I still have from these, and their current pricetag is far from what it was when I bought them! What helped me to come off of shopping randomly was two things: 1. I have no space left for clutter (at the end of the day makeup is not a basic need, so it is clutter) 2. I have been experiencing more and more disappointment. Formulas changed or packaging. Clothes are all recycled plastic which makes me stink. Shoe brands from which I used to purchase for years, somehow don't fit me anymore. Colours which are swatched on screen or even official promo photos, have nothing to do with how the product looks on my skin. : ( I've had so many of these especially in 2023, I am now dreading buying something new :'D it became a hassle, not a pleasure! And when I think about its financial part too: oh here we go again paying for something in vain - I just don't want to buy anything. But of course I still have missing pieces... ehh. :D so unless it is on my List, nope, not even interested.
Are you kidding me?! I just unboxed that aforementioned haul of mine, I was sent the wrong shade of concealer! The universe doesn't want me to buy things.
I'm cutting back this year as well, I've finished my tub of a hydrating mask I had so I have promised myself no more hydrating masks until I go through all the sheet masks I have. No new makeup as I have plenty of it plus some pallets I haven't used in a while, and I will only buy one product of a type at a time instead of getting excited and thinking I need it RIGHT NOW.
Estimating how long your current items will last you is such a good idea!vim going to do that with my makeup, I think it will help me to have that timeframe in my head next time I feel the urge to buy something new ❤
Wow! Great idea and a great video, me like many others buy so much stuff i dont need, you inspired me to do a no buy as Well, Thanks kat , i will follow for more tips and tricks how to Stay on track ;) ❤
good luck, Kat! I also start lowbuy this year especially for makeup. my skincare amount is undercontrol yet still have some duplicates here and there. I only allow myself buy one lipstick and one bottle of parfume in a month, except samples. those two categories still gives me so much fun to explore 😅
I’m doing a serious low buy myself. I am working on a huge declutter first too because it’s overwhelming even if I buy nothing this whole year (which I’m hoping to only buy a couple things).
I have skimmed through that series, and I personally didn't think there was much in there that was new or super groundbreaking to me. I think if people have a tendency to avoid self reflection or have little knowledge about marketing, it would be a great starting point.
Sounds exciting. Good luck. I've allowed myself to pick up the cult beauty skincare edits that just released and couple of super cheap cleansing balms. For the most part those sorts of boxes are the main things I'm allowing this year, depending on products value and prices, maybe the odd T.K.Maxx purchases with previously mentioned parameters. otherwise replacements only, until at least October/November. I was thinking at Christmas I would have like this advent calendar or that one but couldn't face the prices as I hadn't saved for them so saving up in case I want one might not but at least the money will be there if I wish, same with a couple of tattoos I'd like this year.
I love this and am going to do the same! I have a whole bunch of face mask products to finish. Like you I’m wanting to be more intentional with my money and have a savings goal! Love this!
I'm doing something similar. Although I bought a 3 for 2 on conditioner at Christmas, I know that is the one thing I may actually run out of and that's fine - I have curly hair and get through litres of the stuff. Admittedly I did manage, in week 1 of January, to go out and buy one of the new Maybelline sky high mascaras, but my excuse was that it's burgundy, and I love burgundy mascara (I have grey eyes). Normally I have to fork out for YSL if I want it, so. I'll allow that lol. I do have a Beautylish lucky bag coming, but I bought that on Boxing Day.
I’m looking forward to this! I’m not buying that much beauty nowadays but I should cut back on buying perfumes, clothes and spending too much on beauty procedures (that’s new since I turned 40, 3 years ago 😬). One of my goals for this year is also to save money.
@dobcsek I fell into the perfume trap when I hit 30. Then I realized, if I get REAL perfumes, they last on my clothing and skin for days (even after showering) and so it is pointless to own so many, when I'm not in the mood to change my scent in a season more than twice plus special occasions. Maybe try to categorize them and stick to a category. Ex: evening summer scents or office during autumn. Maybe it'll make you more conscious about how much you truly own. It helped me a lot. Perfumes are expensive :"D
I’m doing a no-buy this year too!! I did a no-buy last year and relapsed during BF 😫 Good luck and I’ll be doing it along with you!! Hannah Louise Poston has an old playlist from her no-buy year in 2018 that I am rewatching this year.
Okay, I'm with you. I was just going to order some Kaleidos lip clay, but will wait until the end of year as rewards! I just gave away a lot of unopened eyeliners, and am tackling blush/highlighter next. Most challenging will be handcream, serums, lip products, and eyeshadow.
I'm also trying a no- buy for the first 6 months. I don't keep much back stock in terms of skincare, shampoo, or conditioner, but I do not need any other type of makeup or hair styling products. I've developed plantar fasciitis and am having to replace some shoes, but won't be purchasing anything clothing wise, except for maybe a couple fun new pieces for vacation.
Trying my first no buy this year - at least until September. I too did an inventory and was shocked. I’m only allowed to replace if I’m completely out and then 1st replacement must be drugstore brand.
Oh that’s interesting! Very similar to mine, but I’m not restricting to drugstore because of I did that I would just end up buying a more expensive one down the track anyway 😅
Not sure I’ve got any great tips but everytime you nearly crack walk away and go put a sheet mask on, you’ll get through them masks in no time at all 😂 treat the urge to buy like sugar cravings- they’ll pass and sanity will come back p.s - I’ve put an order in from YesStyle- nearly all necessities 😅 apart from the Tonymoly shocking lip in red 💄 can’t wait to try 😊❤
Overall, I feel my collection is a good place. I have some backups of skin care due to a large sale, but I don't feel its excessive at all. My eye shadow collection might be large by some standards (25), but since I use 2 or 3 palettes whenever I do a look they all get use. I have 4 foundations, one powder, one mascara, 2 concealers that sort of thing. I tend to only buy when I'm almost out of product and I either rebuy a fave or try something new. I'm on a bit of a low buy/no buy situation, but mostly around my nail polish. I do nail art, so I have lot of supplies. I'm looking on that part the most to figure out what I really need and what I can get rid of. I own a lot of stamping plates in particular and one the brands I own 30 or so plates from I don't like supporting anymore, so I plan on parring down on those as much as possible.
Sounds good, look forward to it! I have backups l need to plough through. I was in the fortunate position to be gifted a large amount of mainly skincare products so l shouldn't need to buy but will be interested in your techniques to counter the "want to buy". Had to laugh at the blush only because l can relate 😅
I love your content and easy to relate to you, your information is very useful. Hard to find Beauty UA-cam as true as you are, thank you! I am doing Low Buy for the third year, and hope more selective with my future purchases.
I’m doing a replacement only no/low buy. I only have 1 mascara that is currently open so I will purchase that when it’s finished. I only have 1 serum and when that’s done I’ll replace it. Everything else I’m set for the year.
I do the same. I try to use up at least one makeup product a month in my project pan, and at least another one in the skincare/haircare/body care realm
Im on a no buy this year because i just have so much i need to use up. i also brought in the rule i dont keep anything over 2 years old in my collection for powders and 12months for liquid or creams. I did a clean out jan 1 for expired make up and that really dwindled things down especially eyeshadows!
@@KitschSnitchMy problem is sunscreens. I went on a buying spree to find a sunscreen that would work for me because a lot of them didn’t work with my skin. My problem is that I can’t hoard them because if they expire the sunscreen doesn’t work so wearing them is pointless. I’m so mad at myself for that.
@@laikanbarth I wouldn't feel bad, you needed to try a few to find ones that work for you. It can feel like a waste, but now you know what works for you, you can keep using that confidently. I would just give the ones you don't like to friends and family. Yes sunscreen does expire, but that doesn't mean that they don't work passed the used by date. Sunscreen is heavily regulated and for them to work at their most optimal, you need to use them within the used by period, but that doesn't mean they become completely useless once they have expired. I personally (and this is just me, so don't take is as advice) wouldn't have an issue using SPF passed it's used by date when I am at home or mainly staying indoors, but when I am out in the sun or at the beach, I would make sure it is fresh SPF.
I’m on a break as well. The next thing I really want is the new Natasha Denona Mini and the blush, but that’s not released until March in Europe and, because I like a good deal, I’ll wait a bit longer for a sale. Certainly don’t need it, but I want it. A good MAC sale could push me to finally buy Blush, please and another powder foundation. I’ll probably wait until their solistice sale (usually up to 40% off). I hope my undereye concealer goes bad at some point, so I can try the ND one with a good conscience. Currently using the CT Good Skin one and I’m not wowed. Other than that... I’m good. Apart from a new body sunscreen for the summer. To me, it’s unimaginable to use body cream as a foot cream 😱. My feet would look really rough within a couple weeks. Need at least 10% of urea for my feet, currently two have backups of my favorite one (20% more content, yay. Couldn’t pass on that, even though it’s cheap).
Haha yeah I don't make a habit of using body cream as a foot cream, but I can do it for a week here or there while trying to use up a body lotion or while waiting for my foot cream to be on sale somewhere 😊 Edit: I just looked up my regular foot cream and it has 25% urea! No wonder why I love it haha
Not related to your no buy 😅 but I would love to hear recs on hydrating mists! It’s winter where I am, I’m also an oily girl and would love to know what you’ve liked. 💕
I like the mists from La Roche Posay. They come out in a really fine mist so it is really pleasant to use and they have a spring water one for sensitive skin and a serozinc one that actually helps mattify the skin and tighten pores. They are nice because they are refreshing and hydrating but they don't leave any oily residue or anything that isn't great for oily skin. I have been hitting up the serozinc one a lot this summer haha
I'm going to attempt a low-buy but I'm not going to be too strict on it. Basically if it's not limited edition, it can wait until it's a "need" and I have a few brand exceptions (Lisa Eldridge, Caroline Hirons, Glaminatrix) and where possible, I'll look around to get things at the cheapest price.
2023 I had no buy for lipstick, blush and highlight (and I didn't buy any eyeshadow). 2024 full on no buy, replacement only for mascara, eyeliner and browcara.
You use use and wear makeup more often if you have a small collection you actually use. I don’t buy anything until I run out of something. Then I will pick from my list to try something new when I run out of say a concealer. It is so satisfying to actually use up what you have. I will make an exception if I try something and I hate it.
We are moving for the first time in 15 years. I had a shock realising how much make up I have, I am joining you on a no buy, think I am happy to replace skin care but make up is out for at least 2 years 😊 I hope
Hi Kat and ladies, I’m after some recommendations. I’m looking for a light weight BBcream or foundation with medium to full coverage that’s available at the chemist. I have been eyeing off the Rimmel Kind and Free foundation and the Australis foundation in the little rectangular bottle. I have oily skin. Has anyone used these? Any other suggestions? Also, 6 hour wear time is good enough for me. 💕
Hey Kat will you do 4 seasons round up (quickie video) of product reflection (sort of like 'empties' video but reflecting on what you are using/likes/dislikes/declutters frm skincare to makeup in one video every season). I don't watch empties bc I find it unrealistic, repetitive, and 'forced' (like a tv commercial). I appreciate that you did a no buy/product inventory in this way > quick and makes sense. ❤ I am on a no buy unless I run out of essentials like sunscreen/face wash. My goal is to try and get a 40% raise from my job, pay off $4000 credit card debts (cut one of two up). No Sephora until the 30% sale (and I will only limit myself to 2 brands or 6 items max). And no Black Friday sales unless I saved $3000 for X mas. 🤑
I don’t really vary my makeup or skincare based on the season (besides adding more hydrating products in winter) so I wouldn’t be able to do that very well sorry! Also my season is the opposite of most of the world so seasonal videos tend to be very unpopular and unhelpful videos. I just use what I use naturally or what’s in my project pan. Sorry if that makes my empties seem unrealistic, repetitive or forced 😅
@@KitschSnitch I wasn't implying your empties videos was 'forced' (just a general feel from other videos from pther ppl in the past so I stopped caring for them since 2017). Thanks for the reply, appreciate your content always > I know these videos takes time, energy and planning ❤
I’m trying to use up 365 products on a no buy in 2024. I have way too many mins, face masks, body lotion, all makeup products. I want to get out as much as I can.
Hi Cat, I've recently decided to make peace with my curly roots & have no idea how to do anything with it to retain the curl without it going crunchy or icky feeling, or having to be "precious" with it? How do you get your curls to look so pretty, apparently touchable, and effortless? Advice would be much appreciated!!
Hi! I don't like traditional curl products because I hate that crunchy or icky feel too! I run a small amount of hair oil in my hair after every time I brush my hair. It helps reduce frizziness and it gives some curl definition back while keeping my hair soft. The key is that you need to find a hair oil that doesn't weigh down your hair too much
So you're an Aussie??🇦🇺 We have so few, so when I find them, I subscribe, as I hope to find content creators that hopefully use Australian products, and/or stuff that can be bought in Australian stores and chemists. I'm sick of waiting weeks for products bought online and then being disappointed because the colours don't suit me or the palette isn't as pretty as it looked in the photos, etc etc.. ❤❤
I have been on a low buy for a few years. This year though is my year for replacing some eyeshadow palettes. They are 5 years old, so I suppose I should throw them out. Unless someone here tells me I don’t have to. 😊
I don't think you need to throw out powder eyeshadows unless they start performing poorly over time. You might try using each of them a few times, and see if they still work the way you want them to.
I'm always on a low-buy. 😂 To be real, if I really did a no-buy, I would have to ban watching YT 😂. One type of video that would help me is "dupe this trend" using existing collection products. My parameters: no drugstore, apart from my mascara which is drugstore. Drugstore goes bad faster, I've had to toss so much drugstore over the years, very painful, waste of money no more. Mascara is 3 tubes per year, ordered from Ulta so no reason to ever stop at the drugstore makeup counters. 🎶 Just walk on by... I have to buy tinted brow gel soon because I am out, using up a brow wax first. I use tinted gel or wax in between brow dye jobs to extend the time between dyes, and prevent breakage. I allow myself spring/fall limited edition Chanel if I see anything unique to my collection. Opting out of samples where possible. I've whittled down my samples quite a bit.
I'm doing a similar no-buy to yours, except I'm calling it a very low-buy. The reason being my daughter is getting married in July, and there will be items i need for the wedding. Except for makeup, lol
most of us need no buy and more money and savings, i hold you fingers and can´t vait for your content, you can make video about anything and i will watch 💈
I explicitly follow your channel because you focus so much on low/no-buys, project pans, and only intentional purchases. New products and incentives to spend don't interest me, and it's more fascinating to see people use, learn, and love what they have.
Thanks for the vote of confidence 🙄 I’ve successfully done no buys before, the root is bad habits that have formed. I’m not addicted to shopping, if that’s what you are trying to imply
Hi Kat! I was in a make up no buy for 5 years... and I still had tons of products after that!!!
🤣😂😂
I’d definitely be out of all my base products, but still have eyeshadows and lipsticks to last a lifetime haha
Just randomly popping in here to say congrats on your 5 year makeup no buy! That's an amazing effort!!
Yeah I recently spent an unreasonable amount of money on impulse makeup purchases. I’m gonna try out this tip! Thank you. 😊
I’m sure I can do that for the stuff I have approx 6 months of, but beyond that I realistically couldn’t track it 😆
I’ve done the same thing… stocked up on staples like lipgloss and Mascara while on sale in 2023 and not letting myself buy cosmetics until Sephora’s 20% off sale in April if I ‘need’ something… that’s just three months away and will allow me time to work my way through complexion products.
If my products aren't out in view, I forget what
I have in backups, so last year I wrote a list and stuck it on the back of my bedroom door to remind me of what I have and where to find it. It was very helpful in using up items!
Last year I went on a bit of a spending spree with buying new clothes, so I'm trying to declutter/donate/turn into rags some old things this year. I got 4 new pairs of PJs at Christmas
so last week went through my PJs and donated about 8 things to a charity. Felt really good to pull everything out and "check in" with myself as to whether I still liked the item or not,
and if I would wear them again.
I’m 74…..I can’t possibly use everything I have before I die!😮
I just retired.
Good luck!! I’m doing it too!!
My birthday is at the end of march so i always start the year with a 3 month no buy. If i really want something i add it to my wishlist.
I think I'd drive myself crazy if I tried to do a no-buy. Definitely trying a low-buy again (at least for makeup), and trying to avoid buying palettes.
Mine is a semi low buy, since I can buy essentials and 1 product to review every 2 months, but I’m trying to make it as close to a no buy as I can 😆
I have been doing a low buy for years now.
Yeah that’s why I also have the one every two months purchase ☺️
I'm going on a serious No Buy this year, in preparation for my husband making good on his threat to retire in May when he turns 62. I want to challenge myself to only buy replacements for items I use regularly, and stop being such an impulse buy crow, every time I see something shiny 🙈
I only buy clothes/fashion items once a year with a small budget.
Dude !! November ! You are killing me lol
I will still be talking about products... just mainly things I have already bought haha!
I’m doing a serious low buy myself. I am working on a huge declutter first too because it’s overwhelming even if I buy nothing this whole year (which I’m hoping to only buy a couple things).
I recommend Kimberly Clark's ongoing youtube series How To Stop Shopping In 5 Easy Steps
Love this!
We can do it together! ❤️
I did a no-buy last year and relapsed during BF 😫
Good luck and I’ll be doing it along with you!! Hannah Louise Poston has an old playlist from her no-buy year in 2018 that I am rewatching this year.
😂Sorry to laugh but the ‘ relapsed’ bit got me lol - I relapsed too 😅lol
I decided I'll do a low buy too. It's been more difficult than I anticipated 😅
Ah you and your makeup looks gorgeous. I could definitely never buy blush or eyeshadow for the rest of my life and probably be fine 😅
I try to use up 1 product every month. My addiction is eyeliners too, but I'm trying.
That’s fair enough! I don’t mind using old products if they still hold up 😆
@@KitschSnitchMy problem is sunscreens.
I cannot have my enabler on a no buy hahhaa Love youse x
I have a big collection and wear makeup everyday ☺️
Im trying to do a low buy. I am going to allow myself 1 eye pallete. Im going to get a new foundation.
The key is that you need to find a hair oil that doesn't weigh down your hair too much
@@KitschSnitch thanks so much, I'll give that a whirl! I'm going to try and make peace with my fronds 😄
@@StillPooh62 thank you 🙏
I'm always on a low-buy.
That's totally fair! I would call those necessities haha!
Im not buying anything for 2024 well except for every 2 months and, of course, in Nov and Dec during sales 😂
You have to still buy mascara, right?
When I’m out of it, sure. But I have 3-4 full tubes ☺️
most of us need no buy and more money and savings, i hold you fingers and can´t vait for your content, you can make video about anything and i will watch 💈
I really like Hannah Louise Poston’s low buy content

I explicitly follow your channel because you focus so much on low/no-buys, project pans, and only intentional purchases. New products and incentives to spend don't interest me, and it's more fascinating to see people use, learn, and love what they have.
You won’t be able to do this, you need to find the root before you can take this action
Thanks for the vote of confidence 🙄
I’ve successfully done no buys before, the root is bad habits that have formed. I’m not addicted to shopping, if that’s what you are trying to imply
Of course Kat will be able to do it! Don't measure others by your standard.
@KitschSnitch 🤞🤞🤞
