“The things you spend your time on matter.” Thank you for this. I recognize that I don’t spend money but I do spend time that could be used more productively, or in rest.
I have shopping addiction and I would really struggle doing this challenge. But youtubers like yourself inspire me to shop less. I'm not in debt but I do buy things I don't need and I want to cut down on my spending. You give some really helpful tips especially not browsing which I am guilty of. I'm also trying to buy things I need locally when I can to avoid doing shopping online and buying extra stuff.
You can do it! When you get the urge to browse, do something else instead. If you want to look for clothes, try putting together some new outfit combos with what you already own. If you want to look at home decor, do through anything that you have in storage to freshen up your place. Or plan a clothing or decor swap with family and friends. Love your idea of shopping locally as well!
Awesome video! Great tips. I have been journaling trying to identify my shopping triggers. Amazing what putting it down on paper does for insight. I also listed every clothing piece (minus lingerie, socks, exercise clothes). To have to write it down and really consider everything has been an eye opener. Thanks for being on this journey with me, you have been inspiring me!
I love that you're journaling! I think that, and less social media, has been integral to my success so far. And how happy are you to have your items inventoried? There's nothing like being faced with everything that we own to out things into perspective, is it?
I love the idea of making it personal! My guilty habit is buying clothes so I am not going to buy any clothes for a month and see how that goes! Did you write down your goals and rules?
That sounds like a great goal! I wrote about my goals and rules in a Substack newsletter that I published back in October, and I also shared them in my first no buy video, if you want to check either of those out.
@@uncomplicatedspaces I'm trying a no spend time for January. I haven't done anything like that so far but I guess I need it. I get nervous if I have money in my pocket and I feel the urge to spend it for things that make me feel better. I know about that behaviour, I'm coming from decades of eating disorder and opioid addiction. I have a problem with feelings, not with money. 😉
It's great to start off with a month! I also have a problem with feelings which leads me to shop. I've recently started journaling and getting my feelings out that way and it's been really helping. Have you tried that in the past?
@@uncomplicatedspaces I've written a diary for many years but if I want to eat or buy something... Sometimes I don't care about the aftermath. I just WANT TO! 🙈 Like an alcoholic. I've found some ways that work but it really depends on the situation.

Time is our most valuable resource, and I think we are all guilty of the same thing.

Great video! I feel bad for asking this, since it’s about not spending, but I really love your mug. May I ask here they’re from? 😅
