Bro...you have an Amazon store? Holy S*%#@ Im buying tons of stuff I need. I almost purchased a fully rebuilt Vanos unit on Ebay but after watching this video I realize thats a total waste of $300. Just get this rebuild kit and do it yourself. Awesome video. Thumbs up! Im at 122k miles, I have no doubt these seals are shot
The Teflon (square outer) seals should be soaked in warm water for a few minutes before installing, especially in cold (sub-70) conditions.

Hi Nathan! First of all great videos I really enjoy watching them nice clear and simple. I want to do seals and I see you are using the i6 automotive kit, besides the price (which is better than the beisan kit) is there another reason you are using this kit? And I don't see you using the anti rattle kit, you never replace these? From what I read the rattling does not affect the proper function of the vanos nor is it dangerous or bad for the engine, only for peace of mind you could replace them ;p thanks in advance for your reaction and greetings from the Netherlands
Teveel speling (axiaal) van de vanos zuiger kan wel degelijk voor zorgen dat de afdichting van de seals niet optimaal gebeurt. In principe als de seals slecht zijn en speling minimaal is dan voldoet alleen de seals vervangen. Maar echter als de speling van de zuiger te groot is dan zal alleen seals vervangen niet genoeg zijn ben ik bang. Groeten

hey man, nice videos on the vanos there. i got a question, do you NEED to readjust the "ignition" via turning of the the crank shaft and fixation tools on the camshaft, etc. when overhauling the vanos or is it negligible? regards from germany
No - the double VANOS does not affect the timing; the single VANOS does.

Thanks for the video. how do you time the vanos if the engine has been turned after the vanos has been removed? I thought I had taken it off at TDC before changing head gasket but can't remember for sure. Thanks
You forgot to put the spring back in.

Nice video man. Does the m62 on the x5 have vanos seals too?
Beware: At 30:50, 15 ft-lb torque was suggested for the T30 left-thread bolts. 15 ft-lb snapped my bolt--luckily was able to extract the broken section. Elsewhere this torque spec is stated to be 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
Tho induced bolts are soft as butter. I had one twist off in the cam shaft before it even was seated all the way down.

And also Had a VANOS RATTLE NOISE. I REPLACE BOTH OF THE CAMSHAFT AND BOTH SOLENOIDS
CAN YOU ADVICE PLEASE.

Not all dual vanos torx30 bolts are reverse threaded, ACE. I watched this video then tightened the FUCK out of one thank God it didn't snap.
Of course it FN STRIPPED trying to loosen it. MFn Bitch ass bitch
