Funny I just remembered this game... after so many years... and you just happened to upload a review. Thank you for your time and effort! BTW, loved the Shawshank s Redemption note :-) And, yes, I do find Granada to be more amazing than its (lack of) fame would let one believe.
I just heard about it, went to my overdrive booted that stuff up and started laughing it was so awesome! The screen shakes and the explosions are fantastic! The first level is simple enough to really get a grasp on the gameplay, so yeah it's cool! It reminded me of another old game I used to play before this called Zulu Assault (for windows 95 I think...) it's basically like this you start out in a mech with ammo and bombs but the twist is that you can exit the vehicle and go to the next meanwhile you can collect power ups and armory so it's a bit more opened up like the strike games of ea but the basic principle is the same "you are a one man army now go conquer that compound!
Nice! I never heard of Zulu Assault, I’ll have to look it up. I love the Strike games, they’re so classic. Yea this game isn’t super common, but it’s awesome to hear that people are still discovering this gem
Good luck finding this game for cheap. I walked into a Disc Replay and they priced it for over $200 with it's case. This game is included in the Sega Genesis Mini 2 and that collection is about $100. Plus Crusader of Centy is packed in SGM2 and that is also one of the most expensive games to collect alone.
I know lol. Luckily I picked up the loose cart back in the days of Hollywood Video and got it for like $10. I bought a $5 custom case for it. Like you said, I’m not paying $100+ for just the OG case and manual lol
I got them on Amazon. They're pretty solid and perfect for a collection. I'll send the link below www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054823NA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
@@VicariouslyRetro Didn't own it as a teenager in the nineties as it was only available as a grey import back then where I lived. It didn't stop magazines talking it up though. Been playing it recently on the Mega Drive 2 mini. The game is utterly devoid of any fun or set pieces worth talking about. Thunder Force 2 was better for people who like that sort of game. The thought of anyone playing this on a cartridge with no save states should have led to criminal prosecutions of those developers.
@@bigbabatunde1218 hahaha. I will admit that this game is a tough grind, but that's the way games were back then. Like most shooters, you had to keep playing it to master the levels and enemy patterns to get further. I still think this is a solid game
@@VicariouslyRetro I grew up with a Mega Drive and thought I didn't like shmups. The recent Coregrafx mini, PC Engine mini recently sorted that though. Those shmups are the way these kind of games should have been. It's nothing short of astounding how the Mega Drive took off considering how mediocre the console's early games were.
@@bigbabatunde1218 Yea im a big shmup fan. But yea, the earlier games didn't benefit from the larger memory cartridges in later releases. Besides, the Mega Drive/Genesis was mainly competing with the NES for the first two years so it makes sense. Once the SNES came out, that's when the library really exploded
I played it at a friends house all the time. We went to Granada Elementary 😂
Hahaha nice. Sometimes I thought I was the only person who ever played this as a kid.

Haha thanks for watching, glad this brought you back!
And yup, an unsung hero in the Genesis library
Thank you for the video of this game.
You got it!
Just found about game "Minishoot' Adventures" and remind me Granada so much
I never even heard of it. Is it on the Switch? Sounds like a game that’s right up my alley
@@VicariouslyRetro It's a new game in 2024, sadly on the PC right now.
@@mooontheto ah damn. Gotta wait then. I’m sure limited run will do a release and I’ll wait 2 years to play it lol

It's definitely called Grandpappy Ernesto
Hahahaha
Did you ever play this classic?
Is that some scaling/rotation effects I see at around 2:50 on that boss? Looks pretty smooth given the Genesis lacked those features in hardware.
Yup, agreed. This is such an underrated gem. Probably my favorite pre-sonic 1 game
Goddamit, you're sassy, and I love it. I'll soberly🤞 drive up your chat engagement
Hahaha 🍻
What are those shelves? I need ones that don't bow

Been listening to this BS regarding Granada since the 1990s. It's an awful game.
Haha what? This game is a lot of fun. Did you own this as a kid? I feel like for a 1990 release (early genesis game), this is a sold title.
