I agree. I built two models for a contest; highly detailed and customized AMT 1968 Camaro and a Monogram Porsche 911. Since the 911 was a low parts kit I choose to spend more with detail painting, polishing. I did make and add some small accent pieces the kit lacked. Oh, 911 was built in a week, whereas the Camaro I spent months on. Camaro didn’t place, while my Porsche 911 earned a first place blue ribbon.
Sometimes it is the simple things that can bring the most joy. This was a pure pleasure to build. I did not worry about fit or how to get something togethger or anything like that. Just build for fun!
@@ScaleAutoGarage After that, I spent more time learning to improve my model skills but I built models for the pure enjoyment of building them. It was nice to earn a ribbon but the pressure i put on myself to build a contest model was taking the joy out of why I was building models to begin with. I attended model car contests but only as a spectator… just to see and pick up building ideas, but mostly to head to swap meet areas to pick up some more kits to build and add to my shelves. Still building model kits today but mostly 1/20 scale or larger as aging eyesight makes smaller 1/43 -1/25 scale parts a little more difficult to handle. Keep up the great work, it’s inspiring to watch your model builds.
@@mountainapple5638 I do love the shopping part of model shows. Unfortunately it is not often I get to go to one and I do miss that part of the hobby. I find I am always looking at ways to improve my skills. I am 80 builds into it for this channel and I find I still find something new with each new build. Keep building just for the pure enjoyment of it!
Didn't even know Monogram made a 924, super cool! Thanks for sharing your hard work, it turned out awesome. Going to have to be on the lookout for this kit myself at some shows.
Arii does a 924 kit as well and I've had my eye on that one for some time but it is a turbo version which has a different grill and different rims and also has the rear spoiler. I came across this one while I was eBay browsing and just had to have it. Same rims as mine was and same front end/hood. It has also been released in a rally version but I am glad I found the road car. Hope you find one, it was a great build.
It's not how many parts and options a kit has, it's how the builder brings the kit to life. Always an amazing build!

It's awesome when something unexpected like that happens. Too bad the Camaro didn't place but must have felt amazing when the 911 took first.

And without the timing chain issues of the real one!
Pretty sure that is what happened with mine. I think I bent a valve or something when the chain skipped. It was a long time ago. 🤣
Very nice build, great paint work and detail. Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate you watching!
Wow beautiful Porsche and a fantastic paint job, Ron
Thanks Ron, appreciate the kind words.

Awesome build Spencer ❤😊
Thanks so much shawn. Thanks for watching.
Nice build. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching!
Lovely work right there Spencer and what a beautiful Porsche you've built there 👍🏼 Well done ☺️
Thanks Karl, appreciate the comment. This was a pretty fun build!
From the intro shots, I thought this was either a TESTERS or FUJIMI kit, definitely not a MONOGRAM.
Thank you for saying! I appreciate it. It was a surprise how it all turned out. I've not always had the best of luck with monogram kits.
