    My Version:
Someone asked me if I speaked fluent English… even tho we had a very nice conversation before that. IN ENGLISH. After I said where I was from they started speaking to me slowly like I couldn’t understand them. So I acted stupid and put on my “no entiendo” accent. They kept asking questions asking me if ik what a phone is…THEIR FACE WHEN I LIED AND SAID “Que?” I CANT 😂😂😂

I can totally relate! I moved from Dubai to the States 20 years ago and my parents are Egyptians. My classmates asked me all sort of stupid questions like if my family lived in one of the great pyramids or if I took a camel to school. So one day I decided to really mess with them and I told them my father is a legit pharoah. They were amazed. I have never witnessed such ignorance at this massive scale and unfortunately it continues to persist.

A foreigner friend of mine during college years once have an almost identical conversation as this with me, and I did exaggerate a bit. I told her all my ornamental plants, monstera, snake plant and coleus are taken directly from the forest, not bought from nursery. She was shocked when she visit my house since the plants literally grow everywhere behind my house 😂😂 other than that, I told her we use leaves in the toilet, so when she saw the outhouse toilet, she believed me (don't worry, my outhouse toilet got clean water supply, credit to SAJ).
Edited the grammar, sorry as a Malaysian I can confidently speak Manglish but writing comment with correct grammar is quite a feat 😎
