I really wish they'd find a way to make body parts like tongues & tails articulate (outside of bendy-wire, which tends to break over time) & incorporate it into their figures. And yes, toad has the ability to communicate w/ toads (& I believe other amphibians), at least since the 90s. I believe it was 1st mentioned in a Generation X comic I read as a kid.
13:56 I think it was Dwight who said that the Doc Ock body would look too big for Toad. Seeing the comparison, that body doesn't seem to be too large. It's only taller here because of Frog-Man's unique head and feet. The new parts and added articulation are much appreciated, but I'm still curious how a fat Toad might've looked. It would've been cool to see the Toad heads on Doc Ock/Frog-Man to kinda visualize that.
I bought the four original Toy Biz releases twenty years ago, though none of them are in my collection now. I've gotten the 20 Years Hulk, Iron Man, and just opened Captain America yesterday. Looking forward to Toad, but kind of wish they had gone with fat Toad, too.
Earth 616 Toad a sycophantic lackey and whipping boy with low self esteem. Meanwhile in another corner of the Multiverse, ol Morty Toynbee and his prehensile tongue become a major hit with the ladies, and he becomes an adult movie star.😁 I like this look for toad. It's bang on to his appearance in the 1990's Rob Liefield (I think) art. Shame about the pinned arms and extortionate price.
Nice! One step closer to having a full Brotherhood. The tongued head (weird phrase never thought I'd say) looks awesome. As far as names for the Toadies go, Marco and Polo immediately popped up in my head when you asked for name suggestions. It has nothing to do with anything, that was just my first thought. Although, if you've ever been serenaded by a couple of toads on a hot summer night by a pond, it does sound a bit like they are playing "Marco Polo" with each other.
I understand they’re still transitioning to all pinless, so it’s gonna take a while before it’s standard across the line, but it’s been so inconsistent. Luckily pretty much all of their brand new sculpts have been pinless, so that’s good. But giving Quasar pinless arms but not Pinless legs, same thing with Maggot. And Hercules brand new pinless legs but keeping the exact same arms when it seems Maggot’s arms are retools of the sculpts. They have a lot of the pieces made now to mix and match and make every standard release pinless, but they don’t do it. I can only assume it must cost and little more than a standard joint, but it probably isn’t that drastic. Honestly I could care less except when it negatively affects the aesthetic. (different colors on the inside and outside.) It just seems like we’ll look back in a year or two at this premium release and think ‘oh yeah, that was during that transition time. Wish we could get an all pinless version.’ Maybe I’m mistaken but I feel like there are pinless arms that would fit this guy by now. Or maybe not. I can’t remember.
The drop-down hips are technically nice, but you can easily achieve the same or better range of motion without them. Just look at Retro Hobgoblin, basic hip articulation and he can do splits without a problem. Hasbro is just wasting their budget on things the are not really needed :D
While I love this figure. I hate it also because it shows how much less we get in 20 years, no diorama, less paint apps, no comic, no huge BAFs, and all for $8 compared to $35.
Curious... what was in Wave 2 in the original line? Could really use a Sabertooth, Blob and Pyro. Hard to find some of these. Happy to add this to my Juggernaut, Mystique and Magneto.
Where is Hasbro Distribution Office located??? t seems people in Europe or Asia receives the figures first ..... while the rest of the world besides Australia or Canada receives them 2 months later
That used to be me saying those things, but since Hasbro Pulse U.K. happened it’s gotten a lot better, it’s definitely up and down and alittle inconsistent
I feel like they know that people wanted the Fat Toed and if they gave that first! Everyone would be satisfied and would never pick this up! But they said let's give them this one for those who needed to complete a Team. Than will give them the one they really wanted!! Sell them 2.
I agree that most Toy Biz Legends have been made obsolete. But... I still think Series VI Punisher actually holds up really well. He doesn't have an ab crunch, but that's his only major flaw. Miraculously, he avoided the curse of ball-jointed hips and has hip joints that are closer to Mattel's DCUC hip hinges. Fortunately, they look much more aesthetically natural than they have any right to. Check him out, if you happen to see if for sale for a few bucks looks. Plus, his display base is still pretty good.
I know it's been 20 years since we haven't had Toad in a while but I do think he is great even though he is not on the Doc Ock/Frog Man body mold because Dwight Stall said that Toad might too tall instead of looking Toad like, Anyway, Awesome review Dan.
Head is just a bit too cartoony for me. If I see him, I’ll decide then, but what few 20th releases I’ve seen, Tony was an easy pass. I think I still have the original around, somewhere? He was the first ever ML I grabbed. As for toad names, Jesse and Ed. Falcada has steered the ML line for most of its life. And Eddie Wires was one of the early ML paint masters who died too young. 😢
@@jonhahn6557 obviously I was being slightly hyperbolic but my point still stands, that they just lazily reuse the same handful of body bucks weather it's an accurate representation of the character or not.
My guess is we are not getting a Mole Man anytime soon. Hasbro's lame excuse for not representing Toad the way the fans want to see in their display was easily fixable with shorter and more articulate hips-legs-feet on the Frog-Ock buck. Or otherwise all they had to do was fix what was inarticulate on the first one and everyone would have been satisfied. I do not like the Oxy head, and the tongue on the other sure could have used a wash or imprint detail to not confuse it with a worm. Another pass on Hasbro's ML line, and my wallet is loving it.
You're right. Hasbro and their lame excuses and overpriced figures. Lack of accessories, etc. I'm cherry picking a lot nowadays where I used to get most legends before.
Toad actually has the ability to talk to all amphibians
I can't wait for a new blob and avalanche.
I would like to get a repaint of sauron also to go with all of them.
Same!!

Nice figure. Not worth the high price.
I’ll Wait for it to come on clearance lol
That pretty much sums up moat marvel legends these days lol
how tf I wasn't subscribed to your channel, Dan? been watching for months! thanks for the cool review, as always

The frog accessories should have been more colorful representing poisonous toads.
This figure would have been worth the price if the tongue was bendy wire, it had more accessories, a more chubby body, and pinless arms.

Awesome!!!! We’re getting closer to completing the Brotherhood!
Nice review! Look forward to this one. Off top question- where did you get the Mastermind custom jacket?

Another great review, Dan!
Wasn't going to pick him up originally.
You helped change my mind!
It’s a great figure that will fit in nice with some X-Men villains

The painting is surprisingly good!

First head looks like Chucky from reboot Child's Play movie... So sinister looking😁
The pins in the elbows is very depressing, but I would rather have them in the elbows than in the legs
Hey Dan love the review. Name the toads George & Chip
I thought it was Chucky! 🤣
This is the one that I Want alongside Hulk...quite an Amazing Figure But It's hard to find!!
Now you have me thinking I need this one. Damn!
where did u get the effect parts for Pyro? i dont think he came with those.
Looks like a Black Series flame effect

I just want a new Daredevil on the vulcan or spiderman body 😩
We still NEED Destiny as well!!!
I wanted fat Toad. All they had to do was fill in the holes on the Dr. Octopus mold.
what flame effects are you using with pyro?
I took them from a 3/75 scale Star Wars boba fett
@@DanWhoReviews they work perfectly. Hasbro should've used those for Pyro.
Hey Dan 👋, got him ordered from SAF.
Nice!
Submitting my suggestion for calling the amphibians "Hop" & "Flop".

modern toads nah its 90s toad.
How about Biz and Buz
Frog Names? 🐸 🐸
@@DanWhoReviews yes. I was gonna say Toy and Biz but a frog named Toy sounds dumb
He kinda looks like an anime character 😂
👍🏽
Marvel legends just resells the same 4 figures over and over with a different head and a little different paint
well that's not true. toad is a great example of that not being true because he's completely new sculpt that has never been used on anyone else
Completely false
