The Outsider: Official Trailer | HBO
No matter how this turns out, we can all agree on one thing. Stephen King is making a shit ton of money.
good for him, you don't like it make something better.
How many books has he wrote? Way to many creepy shit coming out of him
That's because he's a genius
@@angelataylor7480 or because he's crazy
Wonder if any of his ideas came from a dream. Man has a twisted imagination.
This is how Stephen King should be done - dark, gritty, serious HBO movies/series. This actually looks scary!
bruh h wat u mean HBO is the best
I agree to some extend, but the thing is, the book is not scary. It's not a horror novel, even saying it has a horror element is pushing it a little bit. I don't understand why everybody is trying so hard to put the horror label on Stephen King. The trailer looked nice but it also looks like a horror movie, and the book is definitely not horror.
@@eden1408 come on, the monster showing up on the couch, the light girl seeing the scary eyes outside the window, there are definitely horror elements to it
@@vampyr69 That is why I said "pushing it A LITTLE BIT" I'm not saying it has no scary moments at all but this is a 600 pages book with probably no more then 15-20 pages of scary moments. Show that trailer to a friend of yours that doesn't now anything about the source material and ask them what is the genre of that movie in their opinion.
At the same time I don't believe anybody in their right mind will call the book a horror novel.
Anyway, I'm not here to argue, just wanted to share an opinion.
If don't already, you should check out the second season of Castle Rock. They take from Misery & 'Salem's Lot. And if Annie Wilkes is your main protagonist, and you root for her you know it's good ;-)
Finally Ben Mendelsohn not playing the bad guy! This looks awesome.
oh, isn't he?
Well...It's complicated..
I can't wait to see this. I read the book and it was insane and at the time i was telling my dad this should be a movie and well here it is. I hope Mr. King writes a sequel cause that would be frigging awesome.
@@fearless204571 Overall, the book was good but the ending is a bit too weak for me.
Why this show got me interested.
HBO is killing it as always.
Watchmen, His Dark Materials, now this one...Yep, killing it.
I have to disagree. Questionable. Thrones final season, Westworld s2, Watchmen & His Dark Materials
and true detective season 2 + 3

I agree. I loved the book and this show was amazing
@@DT-bp2om nope! Loved it!

Overrated asf ! I was boring the all times.
I can't wait for this. What a solid cast. Especially Ben Mendelsohn in the lead. He is always great in the roles he plays. I like the gritty feel of it too. I hope it sticks close to the source material as well.
This is what I like about modern golden tv era...taking wonderful actors known for movie side roles and giving them a chance to shine as leads. This is what Mr. Mercedes did for Brendan Gleeson and hipefully The Outsider will for Ben Mendelsohn.
@@adrianwerner1982 Well said. So true. Mr. Mercedes is and amazing show and Brendan Gleason is at the top of his game with that role. Always been a fan of his.

The true horror is watching people in this comment section critique a writer when half can't spell, and seemingly have no idea what punctuation marks are.
Global problem
What does spelling abilities, or lack thereof, have to do with having opinions about a story? Nothing at all.
@@EmpressLilith222 I think this person is just trying to say it’s ironic that people are criticizing a professional writer when they can’t even write a UA-cam comment correctly while doing so.
Spellcheck and Editors are writer's best friends
"And" shouldn't have a comma in front of it.
I started watching the series as soon as it started- and it's good. Really, really good. And it gets better with each episode. I haven't watched a show in a while where I can't wait until the next episode airs. It's on Sunday nights (tonight- yess!!!) and I'm genuinely psyched to watch it and see what happens next.
There are complex characters that you're genuinely interested in and drawn to. (I LOVE the addition of Holly Gibney (episode 3) SO much.) They've managed to create a mood and ambiance that is so mysterious and charged that you're sitting on the edge of your seat even when nothing is happening. This has definitely become my new favorite show!!
gogretago can’t wait to watch!
Yeah, great show, one that finally does justice to King
I've just finished the sixth episode and I'm really enjoying it. I'm going to dig the book out and read it again. Can't wait for the next episode through!!! I usually like to wait till a series is completed, then binge the whole thing over a few evenings and usually make myself late for work!
Its sooo good
Thank you very much for this comment, I honestly was looking for a reason to check this out and now I have a solid one.
One of the most perfect first episodes of a TV show I've seen in a long time. The acting, cinematography and music...it just had that good HBO stank on it.
This is the true detective season we shouldve gotten
Trust me this will be way better
Ah no ? what has this to do with true detective ? Ive read the book the killer is a supernatural monster. That can transform so it looks like other people yeah that would really fit into true detective.
@Hamaa7 what the fuck are you talking about there are no supernatural elements in true detective
Nothing related to True Detective. I only liked season one in that series
@Hamaa7 there was no character change. In those seasons. Just completely different stories each season.
The book is an addictive read. From page one I haven't been able to put it down. I'm halfway through the book, and I'm excited to start this series to see how well it was adapted. A must read novel from The Master of Horror.
Same here, I’m reading it right now. I have 70 pages left and I’m at the edge of my seat!
YOU ARE TELLING TRUEE, THIS BOOK IS SICK
I'm listening to the audiobook now! Still a ways to go and Holly hasn't shown up yet, but I can't turn it off!
For anybody coming to these comments to see it it’s worth the watch… it definitely is, go watch it! I wish there were more seasons but I enjoyed it a lot. Better short series than Shogun imo

I started this show on Tuesday, and am already caught up today (Thursday).
Unbelievable show. I went out and got the book, and it’s equally engrossing.

Why is it canceled???? This was the best show in the last years! And absolutely the best show from Stephen King.
Unbelievable.
all the best shows get cancelled especially if they have no political message in them.
It’s not cancelled, the story ended 😂
This turned out to be as horrific and mind-bending as the trailer promised.
Surprisingly the best show I've watched in a while but , Who's Terry part 🥶

I went searching for a series called 'promise' then sent the reply as I couldn't find one, reread and realised I'd read wrongly.. Duh me 😂
@@TraceyMariexx it's okay love, we've all had our moments. 😂
Who read the book?
I did. I loved the first half. The second half was okay.
I did. I loved it. Read it in 2 days over the summer. I never expected it to go the way it went. I'm interested in seeing this on the screen, especially with Ben Mendelsohn as the lead.
Present.
Who cares?
I read the book too. Its actually one of Stephen King's greatest works that has its fair share of good moments but the book is well written. I hope the TV show captures the spirit of the novel.
How is it that good shows like this get canceled when bad shows like The walking dead and it's many spin-offs get continued for years. I'd really like to listen to one of those meetings where decisions like this are made.
Shows like this have huge huge budgets, shows like the walking dead are reletively cheap to produce with pretty decent profit of merch and ads so it keeps everything right above water and not risky to but stable revenue
Por eso ya no está en la plataforma, se ve buena la serie, es una lastima que la haya cancelado, alguien sabe algún otro lugar donde se pueda ver???
After I read this, I won’t be surprised if that terrible recent adaptation of The Stand gets a season 2
They ended it where the book ends
Because it’s only one season based on a very short book
HBO casts some ridiculous talents. They're not kidding around with their actors. Whoa
Stephen King still has it and will always provide the most descriptive horror writing that truly takes you to the story and sends chills up your spine and your mind paranoid.
The dialogue is consistently intense and gripping - very well done - hope it retains this till the final episode.
I'm on Episode 5, and whoa!! I have the same sense of creepy, spine-tingling, ambiguous excitement I felt with the "Dark" series, and now *score from 'Jaws' fades in* once again, I have now reached that point-of-no-return *'Jaws' score fades in double-time..then fades out*
I haven't seen something as good like this since Chernobyl.

Jason Bateman's performance was a revelation. Exceptional book adaptation.
Considering the source material, I'm surprised that this wasn't made into a season of Mr. Mercedes. Still looking forward to watching it.
Came here to say exactly this. Kind of hoped Outsider would make it in as Mr Merc season 4 or so (I read The Outsider, loved it, and that's what encouraged me to watch Mr Mercedes). This still looks great but, yeah. Missed opportunity.
Are they from the same book? Also, Mr. Mercedes isn’t accessible to most ppl. You have to have Direct TV I think, and don’t know anyone who has it (is ATT now I think?). Only way I was able to watch it was bootleg, and I have cable w/every package, appleTV+, netflix, prime, Hulu, Disney+ and CBS All Access and still don’t have access to Mr. Mercedes legally. It’s a great show, but if it is part of the same story as this, or same world, I’m glad that I have access to a (likely) well made show from the same world.
Other show from that network I wish I had access to is Condor. I thought s1 was EXCELLENT & I know they are doing a s2, wish it was broadcasted somewhere that one of the ridiculous amount of pay services I have could stream it bc I feel shitty watching anything illegally. Too many diff pay services nowadays, soon it’s gonna cost consumers big into TV like $1k/month just to have access to all of the quality services. W/all I have, I would still need to sign up for at least 5-10 more services to have access to everything of quality, If I ignored the 2nd tier services.
