    Thanks for your video! - The D-Fuze has a softer lighter light, however, it slightly takes away from the natural contrast ( the blacks dont look 100% black anymore, has a slight greyish tinit ) - Whereas the Newwer softbox, gives a clean crisp contrast with perfect white light balance.Over all Lighting, Contrast, & Colors, seem to pop more with the newwer softbox. :) - Thanks again!

      After using the D-Fuse a bit more, I'd have to agree. I have to do a bit more in post, but the softness was my ultimate goal. I still use both soft boxes though ;-)

    Great video man. I just bought 3 of the 660 RGB heads yesterday and I'm thinking of picking up a softbox to go with so this was really helpful.

      Thank you! Sorry for not responding sooner (still missing my notifications), but I am still using the Pixel MC-650. I really like it over the Takstar. The Takstar is still a solid mic, but that Pixel is just that much sweeter to me.

    These are not bad… but a deeper umbrella is a must have. I got these and they do not perform as well as my homemade (5-16” 1/8” dowels, a stiff circular wire about 4’ in diameter, a 12” diameter circular wire, a bunch of aluminum foil and a shower curtain) the biggest difference is the depth. And it makes a big difference!

    • @Ahm-Creative
      @Ahm-Creative  2 роки тому

      I absolutely agree. I'm actually selling these, but they do serve a purpose.
      Now, when lighting people, I use the EZ Lock 28" deep parabolic softbox, and it's amazing.
      I made an unboxing and lighting video on it.

    With the D-FUSE Trapezoid, one foot opening in the back, you don't even need the velcro straps when using with the Neewer 660 LED. Just open the barn doors straight out and hang the softbox on the upper blade. I find it convenient not to have to take off the barn doors every time. I use the velcro straps to cut down on the back light bleed. Works great. So does the grid they made for this softbox. (Just FYI - I have not had mine for very long)

    • @Ahm-Creative
      @Ahm-Creative  4 роки тому +1

      That actually works perfectly! I noticed it AFTER I made the video, but thought why not share what it would look like with the velcro.
      Luckily, there isn't much, if any light loss from the back.
      And I actually added the grid to mine...works great!!

    I like your enthusiasm Ahmed. I got a good idea. I'm a low light freak, and it would be great if you tested the low light on your camcorders (I know you've already done vids on this) out on the streets WITH softboxes/lighting. Just a thought :-)

    • @Ahm-Creative

      Thank you! I am REALLY having fun with these videos now, and I am totally comfortable. I have a few I've already recorded, but don't tell anyone...haha! But I have noticed my progression as I grow.
      As for a low-light video...I just might try it with a softbox/light at very low settings, as well as with just ambient light, to see how they perform. Thanks for the feedback and idea.

      @@Ahm-Creative I usually use my Panasonic vxf1 indoors with lighting, but I want to go on location some place and take lights and the camcorder with me to see how lit up I am on darks streets etc etc It would be great if you could push the boundaries and do a vid on this. Thank you! But yeeaaah man it totally sucks that it doesn't fit perfectly. I tried using duck tape to cover the gaps, but that didn't work out too well, so I just deal with it by moving the light closer and turning the power up.

    You’re cool dude. But here’s something you didn’t cover:
    Do you tilt your lights at all?
    People that have the older 660s can’t mount their lights horizontally and tilt, even with just the barn doors and no soft box. I just got two of the older models for certain reasons...a lot cheaper, and I’m only using them to light a green screen, so no intention of ever soft boxing them. I have the newer Neewer 480 RGBs as my key and fill lights, and you CAN mount those lights horizontally and tilt with the Neewer soft boxes.
    Now, if you COULD tilt with your past set-up, can you now tilt with the much larger D-Fuse box?
    I’m new to all this video shit and just learning, but I’m an old fart with experience in photography when all there was was film:
    There are a shitloads of ways to soften light, for pennies, especially on LEDs which don’t get hit:
    You know that packing crap often used in product packages? It’s not bubble wrap, but a very transparent , thin white foam? Just cut a piece to the 660’s panel size and stick it to the front using a piece of tape.
    The white paper stuff used INSIDE Christmas presents to wrap around a sweater? Or the colored stuff, if you want to get funky with these bi-color lights? Diffuses very soft.
    TISSUES! TRACING PAPER! EVEN LENS TISSUE (if you could find a sheet big enough).
    This crap works incredibly well and costs nothing, and a hundred times better than the Neweer’s supplied diffusion panel, with less loss of output. It just takes some playing around.

    • @Ahm-Creative
      @Ahm-Creative  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment and input Ira. I could sworn I covered the new mounting pole on these 660s, but maybe in another video.
      But with the new mounting position on these upgraded lights, you can definitely tilt them with the soft boxes attached. I think Neewer got so many complaints on that on the previous models, they made all their new stuff like this.
      As for your packing foam sheet idea....BRILLIANT!! And for LEDs that don't get hot, it would be perfect. My only concern might be the thickness of it since it is rather thick compared to the diffusion panels they sell....but to save a buck, I've seen many go to the .99-cent store and buy a white shower curtain, and just like that, a giant diffusion panel for pennies.
      I too started in photography, but in the digital age. This video lighting is fairly new to me, but I've come a pretty long way since my first video...ugh!
      Thanks for watching!
