Hi! I mounted the same light with only removing the grill: I attached two 6" slotted mending plates (from TruValue) to the frame with 9/16" well nuts. Next I slid the light under the bumper and into the space then attached it to the welding plates. It fit perfectly and I was able to center it with no drilling. Thanks for the idea and for the recommendation of the light!
That's very sleek! So cool!! Thanks!
Looks really functional and classy...but what to do about the front license plate? required in most states, it will block nearly all that light? anyone found a better place to mount the front plate to make this possible?
I'm probably super late to the party but we are allowed to run ours on our front dash in wa.
Nice install. Have you had any overheating or transmission problems? Light bar is blocking the airflow at the bottom of the radiator where the trans. cooler is located. I wouldn't tow anything or haul a heavy load with the light bar mounted in that location, your truck WILL overheat. FYI
No problems so far. There is still a large enough gap for airflow 👍
@@CopperStateOutdoors Nice. I have an 04 PreRunner an was going to put some KC s down there but not sure about airflow. If your not having any issues I'll stick em in there. Retired mechanical engineer trying not to overthink shit all the time. I have done tons of cool clean mods to my Toyota 4x4s through the years some times all the pieces just fit ....like your light bar mod. Nice Job
I had a good friend who loves doing automotive work as a hobby, give me pointers during the mounting process and he didn't see any issues with it being mounted there.
There is still room above and below the bar for air flow at 2:20, you can see the gaps and open space under the bumper
Does the black trim pieces on the bumper, in front of the light bar cause any blocking of the light? Like shadows being casted or so.
It does to an extent, but for the most part when night driving, i can see 100ft tree tops and across a 2 lane road just fine to the tree lines. It even reaches as far as my brights down the road.
I'll note that i did trim around the black bumper with a razor enough to allow.more light through
Excellent video! Can we see a night test?
I have one from a few years ago but it doesn't do it justice. I'll have to make another one when it's pitch black to show it's full potential

The rest is in the video description 👍
Do I need different mounting brackets? Do not look like the ones in the video.
@@marklopez4524 you shouldn't have to, the ones in the video are the same ones that came with the kit that i installed on my bumper
I have the year Taco. Nice mod, thanks for the link.
Do you think that this would work with my 1998 tacoma bumper?
Does your bumper protrude out like mine in the video? I know some are receded near the radiator.
I'll do some searching on my end in the meantime
@Copper State Outdoors yeah it does but I can't really compare it because it's different on camera
