I agree! It would’ve been nice to adapt the remnants of Black Sun as the main protagonists (secretly controlled by forces in the unknown regions ) and the world devastators as the first films climax.
Yeah, me too. But only when you unlock the power ups because in its original state is kind of frustraing. I believe The Naboo Star Fighter is way more over powered. Faster like a V-wing and versatile as X-wings. Dude how much I loved that starship 😂
For me it was the “Raid on Sullest” level, those missile turrets just kept shooting me down again and again and it always frustrated the crap outta me.
I miss when Star Wars games complemented the EU :/ we EA at the helm, we will never see an EU based Star Wars game (I refuse to refer to it as "Legends").
Chill, people. The whole Legends / canon thing is just a reboot. Franchises do it all the time. It's not like they've actually scrapped the old EU and made it impossible to get your hands on the old comics and books and such. It's literally just an old timeline and a new timeline. The old EU was never part of a truly canon timeline anyway. And yeah, some stories connected to each other. But that had more to do with the writers wanting to connect their stories to that of other writers, rather than because they were writing into an established timeline. The old EU had a system where books were less canon to the overall franchise than movies, and more canon than comics. And these stories were canon in the sense that it has its own storyline canon. For example: a game with multiple endings had a non-canon ending to its self-contained story. And besides, Disney had nothing to do with the canon / Legends thing anyway. It's all Lucasfilm. Yeah, Disney owns Lucasfilm now, but all Disney does are the marketing and the production of toys. My point is, it's not a big deal. Play Rogue Squadron if you want. Disney isn't interested in stopping you.
Lol Luke says "1-7-Decimal-2-8" and that is exactly what an AT-AT driver replies to General Veers with in the Empire Strikes back, when he asks how close they are to the power generators. Lack of unique content in the dialog in Rogue Squadron, but a lot of unique content in the missions
For me, this was the best star wars rogue squadron. After playing rogue leader, the missions in this one are longer and more interesting. You can complete rogue leader missions in less than 4 min (if not going for gold, even there's a mission you can complete in less than a minute D:)
When I was a kid, this was the hardest mission for me. I didn't know where the other devastators were and the ties were a bitch to kill. I almost threw my n64 controller at my tv
Remember the 2003 cartoon of Clone Wars?? In that series Mace Windu destroys a machine that looks pretty close to the world devastators. Except he did it alone with his lightsaber :D
Oh man...I am surprised that Disney didn't just steal the idea though for "creative licensing" purposes. I mean seriously, Starkiller base was basically the Galaxy Gun/Suncrusher combined.
If only. The Devastators would have been perfect to explain why the First Order has an army big enough to declare war on the New Republic and the Resistance, since those monsters can create weapons and technology from the resources they leech from planets. Using yet another Death Star thing as plot device to wipe out the senate was kinda lame and uninspired.
I remember this mission felt out of place compared to the rest of the game, since it took place in an entirely different time period and with a new player character.
One has been damaged and crashes, the devastators arrive, two V wings make attacks but seem to his some kind of barrier. The A wing flies in tries to avoid the barrier but the TIE drone fires down on it.
How is it that this game looks so horrible now. Yet when we were all kids it felt like the most amazing game ever? I suppose, coming from an era of 2D sprites, 3D worlds of any kind were a major leap forward... Games like Rogue Squadron, Pilotwings 64, Mario 64, and the likes of Gran Turismo on PS; really changed gaming and our appreciation of graphics forever!
Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike for the GameCube has multi-player dog-fighting and a co-op mode where you play through the Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader missions together.
@fathinking88 In mission 15 (Moff Seerdon Revenge) as a standard you have x wing equipped in homing missiles. I have chosen tie interceptor, because it is a bigger challenge.
Martin Quitugua specifically its a droid Tie Fighter, its more armored then a standard Tie Fighter and rumor says the droid brains were Vulture Droid starfighter brains.
Youd think that these guys wouldve been well funded by now cuz they formed the new republic. But no. The empire is still more funded than them despite losing 2 death stars and Palpatine.
I get the feeling the new upcoming EA Star Wars game is just a rehash of this. Meaning that EA can't do anything original with the license. All they've done is make reboots of Battlefront, Rogue Squadron, and the Force Unleashed (Jedi Fallen Order was just a watered down and nerfed version of TFU).
To be honest, I would of rather seen the world devastators as the main super weapon in TFA then having ANOTHER Death Star.
+NEON MULLET Yeah and those tie fighters look better than just regular tie fighters painted white.
Now you may get your wish!
They did bring them back in the new canon, as mine crawlers stripping apart Lothal
I agree! It would’ve been nice to adapt the remnants of Black Sun as the main protagonists (secretly controlled by forces in the unknown regions ) and the world devastators as the first films climax.
NEON MULLET that would have been interesting.
I love how this scene from the old Dark Empire comics is represented in video game form!
Happy to see they brought back calamari in the clone wars cartoon aswell
my childhood... Ocarina of Time and Star Wars Rogue Squadron.. such awesome games
Don’t forget Shadows of The Empire
don't forget shadows of the empire - and 3Do's battletanx
Same except also add StarFox 64
Goldeneye and perfect dark too
@@NinjaBuddha503that game was soooo frustrating 😂
The World Devastators really creeped me out back in the day.
I still remember Luke’s lines:
“Rapid Fire mode engaged!”
“Burnout on cannon 1. Burnout on cannon 2”
“Hold on! My blasters are still cooling.”
But here, it's supposed to be Wedge saying that.
@bub777 is right. You pilot as Wedge on this level, which is set after Return of the Jedi.
I love calamari, especially with marinara sauce.
Ackbar: Well, I guess I'll have the insensitive bitch...with the side of 'Fuck you'!
So much late nights and missed school. Worth it.
I loved this game, I always felt the V Wing was way over powered.
I wanna play this game.
this is the game of the year!
Yeah, me too. But only when you unlock the power ups because in its original state is kind of frustraing. I believe The Naboo Star Fighter is way more over powered. Faster like a V-wing and versatile as X-wings. Dude how much I loved that starship 😂
It’s an NR Fighter with it’s main competition being only slightly better droid TIE’s, of course it’s overpowered.
No naboo starfighter is far overpowered.
Especially when you upgrade your missiles to cluster seekers they just kill everyone so fast
LOVED this game as a kid! My dad even bought me a joystick just for this!
I remember the hardest level being the Cloudcity one!
For me it was the “Raid on Sullest” level, those missile turrets just kept shooting me down again and again and it always frustrated the crap outta me.
@@LeeroyTheWrathBear same. That damn Ywing was too slow!
@@LeeroyTheWrathBearit’s raid on fest, you have to protect some of the weakest enemies in the game from at-ats

Fuck Legends, I say EU, not Disney.
To me the EU (Original Star Wars timeline) will always be canon to me. Although i'm not sure about after Return of the Jedi though.
@@DedricSilva Same here. Long live the EU!

Mitchell Hayward you have a point
the opening scene is still confusing lol
Knowing where each enemy is and what movement patterns they use is one of the tricks to playing the entire game with minimal difficulty.
Dark Empire!
Yep. Those World Devestators are nasty!
Love those rapid fire blasters on the V-Wing.

"Inbound fighters at 10-13" almost became a catchphrase in this game, if you know what I mean.
LOVE THE V WING!

HARDEST LEVEL IN THE WORLD, next to the annoying volcano level.
DwayneHicks426 the V-wing makes it easy!
asgure Until you overheat the canons. lol

The seismic tank? Similar in appearance, I guess, but definitely not scale or function.
Rhsims Yes, you are right
Why is the Vwing not in any movies or other games?
Because this iteration of the V-wing is unofficial and has only ever made an appearance in this game.
+Mr.Dr.Professor Toaster it debuted in Dark Empire, now rendered non-canon.
They have Thrawn in Rebels
eww mewtwo he doesn’t really shine like he did in the eu
Probably because it's not as iconic as the X wing or Y wings
I don't know why but Wedge screaming made me laugh so hard.
And the fact that this was also in one of the comics blows my mind
I LOVE the V wing’s design, definitely my favorite fighter!
I'll bet you all that the World Devastators are gonna be the main antagonist of VII VIII and IX.
You gave Disney too much credit.
I come from the future. You'll be disappointed

Welllllll
Wedge has always been my favorite pilot next to Luke and Hobby.
Ah, cluster missiles.
Shame they couldn't have added the E-Wing.
I loved this mission.
I remember this mission felt out of place compared to the rest of the game, since it took place in an entirely different time period and with a new player character.
It felt like a nice suprise to me, since I had read parts of the Dark Empire.
The best Star Wars gaming!
Because of this game i thought the mon calamari lived on land and the quad live in the sea haha.
What is happening in that opening sequence? A V-Wing shoots down another V-Wing which is shot down by an A-Wing?
One has been damaged and crashes, the devastators arrive, two V wings make attacks but seem to his some kind of barrier. The A wing flies in tries to avoid the barrier but the TIE drone fires down on it.
I finished this game, but I saw in 0:45 a strange thing. Pay attention: it seems that the A-wing destroyed one of the V-wing's.
Nah that's the V wings hitting some kind of barrier
A great and classic game.
Wow! 100% accuracy!
Palpatine returns in legends.
And he did by transferring his essence into a clone of himself.
Somehow Palpatine returned in canon too!
That final cluster missile, though...

Yes, indeed. And, times change; that's for sure. And really, even, time tends to fly, as well...
To this day, I STILL don’t know who’s fighting who in that intro scene.
How do you get all crafts available for a misión?
If only they made this mission canon to the Star Wars series.
Nostalgia ;-(
