You bet, not alot out there on these rods yet. I have a 9 foot 5 weight put out by The Fly Shop in Redding, CA that has a very similar blank to this rod but different hardware. The Cabela's Vector (that I broke) 9 foot 5 weight also had a similar action. A lot of popular entry to mid level fly rods these days are either too stiff or under-powered for specified line weight...
Sorry to hear that. I did some fishing with mine and didn’t have any issues. I still run my Fly Shop Signature rod most of the time lately though. I find the Blue Ribbon to be slightly slower than that rod and ever so slightly more tip heavy.
The reel that I used with the rod in this video is an older version of the Redington Rise reel. I like 5 weights for trout on more open water, shorter 3 weights on creeks and small streams. I don’t fish for Salmon, but an 8 weight like the TFO BVK or LK Legacy should be good.

@@joelhaas765 after I had it a couple days I hated it. Too hard to control loop size. Never had a rod do that to me before. I returned it.
