I found this to be one of the most helpful videos ever. Explaining and applying is teaching at its finest.
I was just working on a 'tree' tutorial, but then got stuck because I didn't have any good greens. Thanks for this timely tutorial. I'm going back to swatching some greens and then I'll try the trees again. Loved your teaching style.
Going forward this beginner is going to mix more greens. It looks like you get a more individual look in your painting.Thank you for sharing! ✨🎨

Jes it is worth to Support your channel. You are a great artist and teacher. Best wishes from Germany Bavaria
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you. 🇨🇦
Cerulean, cobalt green and cobalt turquoise make great granulated greens too even if the phalo green doesn't run out. Quinacridone gold with phalogreen makes a beautiful sap green. Of course quin gold is made from nickel azo yellow and burnt orange. I use azo yellow cause aureolin turned brown in my window within just under 3 weeks
Cheers a notable point thank you
You might like to try a modernized aureolin. They were developed to avoid the fugitive action of the original aureolins. The modern versions are usually called something like aureolin hue or aureolin modern. Schmincke has a lovely one, but most of the prime colormakers carry a new aureolin.
Exelent tutor
Thank you Tony very kind, cheers P
fantastic explanation - really enjoyed as a newbie
Thank you
Just stumbled upon your channel and have watched several demos already. Nice work Paul. I'm in Kentucky, U.S.A. and have subscribed and hit the bell. I enjoy your demos and am currently switching from oil to watercolor and gouache as a pleasant break. Keep up the good videos please. Hope to get back to Merry Old sometime soon.
Very interesting and cost saving. Thanks.

Okay wow, I definitely didn’t think you could get a green using greys/grays, oranges, or violets much. Pleasantly surprised by this! I have just recently heard/read that Aureolean Yellow will turn brown as it ages. Have you had any issues lately or before of that happening with your painting? I am going to have to give mixing up greens with my palette a try after seeing this video. Thanks for sharing this wonderful information with us! Have a great weekend!
Use the Schminke version, it's a mimic so well done no issues with that one. the DS version may well discolour as it is the original Aureolin.
@@paulappswildlifeart Ahhh thanks so much for the tips on the colors!
I was looking into making greens. I have some Aureolin that I no longer use as it goes grey when exposed to light. I wonder if you have noticed any changes to your greens that have been made using Aureolin. It has to be constantly exposed to light to change and won’t do so if in a sketchbook for example. I would value your comment on this.
If your Aureolin is Daniel Smiths, then it is the original fugitive recipe, it will brown in sunlight, and to a degree so will other colours using this mix. I would suggest the Schmincke version which is as close to this as is possible Aureolin Modern It will completely solve your issues moving forward , cheers P
@@paulappswildlifeart Thanks. I will look at getting a modern version!
Not sure what you're using for the 4th blue - it sounds like you said cyan blue?
Great demonstration, as usual. I am one of your subscribers. I’ve been trying to find a metal palette like your’s, online without success. Where did you get yours?
Amazon !!
