Very informative video. I'm gonna have to come back to I'd and actually mix the colors myself. My favorite green recipe has to be Green gold (PY 129) and Phtalo green blue shade (PG 7).
What a handy reference! I especially appreciated that you mentioned what actual plants you would use each color for, it made it easy to see how these colors could be useful.
Hi Michelle, i'm new to your channel and i click on your channel soon as i saw the title of your tutorial because Green's all sort of Green's are all my fav. colors, on every pictures i paint or color you will found Green's some where, even if it's a portrait and don't really need green's on my colors palellet i will add some on the eyes, skin or hair but i can't tell you which Green's are my favorite because they all are absolutely Gorgeous! I,m so Glad having fond you here because i love painting with watercolors but i always have hard time to get satisfied or achieved a great result with this medium, I've take some classes when i was 18 years old and i was so impress by the talent of my teacher who was the Best Artist ever to paint Birds any kind of Birds on watercolors and she always told me you will be able to do the same AH! i wasen't believed that but sadly i had to stop taking teaching lessons with Her because of medical Issues i've got so know i have start with coloring for Adult and i've bought lots of Art supplies and only the Best Brands like Faber Castel Caran D'Ache Pablo Derwent and so much more and after 7 years of coloring i'm ready to gave it a try on watercolors again but i'm skared and always say OK. tomorrow i will start and all of my watercolors supplies stay on my Desk on my studio so that's why i'm more then please having click on your title today, i really enjoyed to watch and i have subscribed to all of your social media so maybee you are the key for help me gave it a try on this medium, Thank You so much for this fantastic tutorial on how to mix 10 Amazing Green's colors, i wen't to your channel and i will have so much fun to watch all of your tutorials and fingers cross that will make myself confident enough and really start painting watercolor??? Sorry for my long message to you, i ddin't realized i was so excited & thrilled anyway Big Thank's for doing these Amazing colors combo which are very helpful specially when you just start xx
Thanks so much for your message Sylvie. There is no need to worry about painting, just start. It's important not to have expectations at first of making a perfect painting. Making a lot of mistakes is just part of learning. At the end of each painting, just ask yourself if there is one little part of it you like, and that went well, in this way you progress. You only progress by making mistakes!
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Thank You so much Michele for this great advice, i will gave it a try and let you know how that worked for me but for know i could tell you just by reading this Awesome tips well i feel more confident to start painting with watercolors, so Thank's a bunch i highly appreciated it xx
Thank you for this video, as beginner I have been struggling mixing green colours. It's been a great help I'll will be doing a colour chart tomorrow :)
Michelle this is awesome thank you so much for sharing the more vedeos I see the more I know 0 have so much to learn still you are a master of your craft
Very helpful. I’m told, by a professional painter friend, that he “ detests using greens”. How limiting! This is great and I’ll be making color charts, based on these. Thank you so very much...GREEN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR, so, I must understand mixing greens! How can we paint nature without all her many greens!
I love lemon yellow and Cerulean blue mixes but they can separate on the paper ( flocculation rather than granulation) which can be good or bad depending on the look you are after. You mention cheaper student paints, but I have actually been a longtime fan of Cotman Cerulean blue hue as a mixing Cerulean when I don't want the distraction. I've used this particular colour for over 30 years and must get through about 2 large tubes a year. It is the only student colour I use. I loved your video and there were some new mixes I haven't tried... I must admit I love my greens, there are so many permutations.
I really enjoyed this lesson. The chart is such a good idea. I appreciate your tips on which green is good for what kind of item (e.g., trees v grass). My favorite was the tip for distant trees (Naples Yellow and Prussian Blue). I have watched a couple videos that mixed yellow and black to get green; I think those were for oil paints.
Very clear and concise teaching. This tutorial really made things clearer for me. I now have a reference for greens in my watercolor sketch book! Thank you Michelle.
Thank you for this lesson. I now have a better grasp for mixing greens. Great class with too many commercials, but without the ads we would not have much to see. I ‘liked’ your presentation and even went so far as to subscribe. I’ll be going back and to look for your earlier presentations. I like how you explained how and why you mixed each color. Explaining the possible use for each helped me to remember what colors to mix.
Great Michele. Thank you. I’ve been searching for the right dark green and going nuts trying to get the right colours to mix (and saying rude words at the same time) and hey presto Payne’s Grey and lemon yellow.
Excellent video. I love learning about different pigments used in watercolor and watch a lot of videos about that and color mixing and am glad to have found your channel. I especially liked how you gave examples and instances where each mix would be useful. I am going to watch it again with a pen and paintbrush in hand. Thanks!
Teresa....I enjoyed that aspect too. The examples are so useful. Even though I'm not new to painting these little nuggets of knowledge are what I love hearing from other creatives. So inspiring!!
Thanks a bunch. I will return again and again to your videos. Just watched your greys and now this. What I am interested in has to do with a deep grey late afternoon cloud bound but even sky dipping down to very small islands around which the sea which is greenish. So the sky is an even and deep grey, the islands a browned color with a little iridescent greenery on the one closest in, and the sea is a greyish green. Trying to figure out what the three colors in my palette should be to accommodate these greys and greens.
What a useful video on mixing greens! Made note of the type of green and color combinations. Will definitely help me achieve more variety/dimension in my watercolor painting. Thanks so much.
I really enjoy when you do color mixing videos, I learn so much. Am looking forward to more. My favorite mixed green is taking orange and viridian green, it makes a beautiful olive green. Viridian is a beautiful green, but a little intense and unrealistic. I have used prussian blue or a little bit of payne's grey too. Thank you Michele.
You just showed up on my UA-cam Feed. Absolutely awesome tutorial. And I've passed your fb group details to a couple of other professionals who got booted from other fb groups, simply because they were 'good' and can actually paint! And that Lemon, blue and Paynes Grey is my favourite!
Oh, thanks so much! I hear you. I am too advanced for amateur groups, not realistic enough for botanical groups, but far too realistic for surrealist groups, not purist enough for watercolour groups and on and on... :-)
Time to swatch some greens!💚 Love how your videos inspire me to paint and keep learning .... trying to get my head around colour theory ATM but find it quite challenging tho fascinating so good to relax with some easy to understand mixes knowing a little about why and how these colours are formed🙏💙
Love the Cerulean, lemon & Paynes grey. Such a beautiful shade. Never thought to do a catalogue of greens like yours, definitely given me a brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing. 💐🎨💝
Thank you so much Michelle for making this video. After I watch the video, I divided a piece of watercolor paper in 10 squares, labeled what colors were used, and what Green's are used for each subject. The only one I had difficulty with was the pale grey green. It ended up looking more like the dark forest green. I think I just put down too much pigment. I also did not have Indian yellow so in its place I used new gamboge with a hint of cadmium Orange. They came out pretty close I think. I have a tie between my favorite.🙂 Those being fresh spring grass green and fir tree green. I really appreciate your lessons. Thank you.
Let me know in the comments which is your favorite green and if you have any other recipes to share!

My favorite is the Prussian blue + cadmium yellow followed by the Prussian blue + Naples yellow. Thank you for the recipes!

I appreciated her references as well!!!
wonderful combinations that I have never considered... Naples yellow and Prussian Blue? Fantastic! Thank you for the wonderful ideas😃❤️

EXTREMELY helpful. I've written down these mixes. Thank you!

I paint a lot of cactus and the silver grey-green was most helpful because you add a touch of lemon which makes all the difference!
I love cacti and succulents, plan to paint more in the future, yes it's definitely a good mix for them!

You can mix black and yellow watercolor to get green, even with watercolour as black is majority blue pigment but it will be very dark and muted.
Thank you very much for this very clear and useful video. I am a beginner and this will help me a lot!
You are very welcome Gomez 🙂
Please, please can you do this format for making greys. That would be great. Just what I needed but didn't realise it til now! 😃🎨💐💝
