    Good job, Maddie and Kyle and nice, colorful dishes you were munching. I, too agree with your choices and eat more cooked in winter. I'm a longtime vegan. Right now I'm having double-boiler-cooked germinated rice, beans, sweet potato, kale and broccoli. Seasonings are Himalayan salt, cumin, curry, extra turmeric and after cooked- coconut vinegar and aminos, Udo's oil blend. Be healthy!

    I have been having the worst luck with avocados, either rock hard or totally beat up! I also find that the ones that are hard and picked way too soon don't ripen right either 😂 it is always a struggle! I am so inspired to clean out the fridge, a beautiful clean and freshly stocked fridge is such a fabulous feeling, nothing better! Spring is great for resetting 😎

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 років тому +3

      Melissa Gillan totally! It's a major bummer to think that so much of the produce at the grocery store is picked before ripe! ☹️ If only we could all live in Costa Rica and pick our own fresh fruits and veggies! Hah! Yes, spring cleaning is a must!!🙌🏻

      Melissa G have you ever put your avocados in a brown bag and in the dark? (in the bottom cupboard is where I put it) it helps ripping them.

    Another great video! I just turned my pineapple upside down...great tip! I struggle finding good avocados. One thing I've learned to do is tuck my hard avocados under my "still ripening" bananas and leave them to soften. I love your avocado/guacamole recipe!!

    I remember from your top ways to reduce anxiety video you guys said you dont do caffeine but are there types you will consume every once in a while for example like the Matcha? If so what are your thoughts on Yerba Mate? Do you enjoy either of those?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  6 років тому +2

      I used to drink Matcha and green tea from time to time, but found that it began to lose its effectiveness so then I’d feel like I needed and wanted more. When it began to feel like a “drug” I decided I didn’t need it or want tut anymore. I do believe it has many benefits though!

  • @sullivx
    @sullivx 6 років тому +2

    It seems the liquid you wiped down the emptied fridge with was simply distilled white vinegar - straight up? Or did you dilute it? Ha! Another idea - but more tedious - please do it at your leisure! If you guys ever were to feel up to it, a video of best practices to clean a house with natural cleaners - if you’re up for it! Like those annoying things that are more likely for people to still engage chemicals because they are simply a giant pain like the green line under the faucet in the tub, or the bathtub in general, getting the grout white between the tiles in the shower. I feel confident with pretty much everything else in my apt but full disclosure those areas I admit are where I still use cleaners with chemicals 🙈. B/c so far they are the only ones that work! 🙈 What are your guys’ thoughts on using non-chlorine bleach for the toilet and counters since it actually kills all the bacteria? Not sure if a natural cleaning video sounds like something you guys would want to do. FYI will not be disappointed at all if you decide not to because I understand!

    What's your reasoning for having the nutritional yeast and Apple cider vinegar and spices in the fridge? Does it keep them longer? I've always kept them in the cabinet and wondered if I'm missing something 😂 ..

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  4 роки тому +1

      Anything does better in the refrigerator...especially important with raw nuts and seeds. The apple cider vinegar just tastes better cold and the nutritional yeast, just a preference I guess! Haha

    heyy guys just wanted to say I just found u on youtube and i love your channel!!!! You guys inspire me soo much, i wanted to ask how can i properly do raw till 4 life style diet if its for weight n health? What are some tips, i am already eatting a clean diet mainly huge raw salads with fresh squeeze lemon n a small-med sweet potatoe on the side afterwards. I limited my fruit to no more then 1 serv a day n replaced it with greens, I wanna see better results to having a flatter belly n toned body, how much exercise should i be doing on a daily basis? How much do you guys do to stay so fit?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 років тому +2

      Hi Shannon! The first thing I would say is that you probably aren't going to get adequate calories or fuel your body only eating raw vegetables and such a limited amount of fruit. I would suggest trying to incorporate smoothies for breakfast, fresh fruit during the day, and a large salad either for lunch or dinner. Exercise is huge for us! While diet is a better determiner of weight loss and weight gain, exercise is going to help you to get toned! Try exercising 5x a week for at least 30 min at a time and take one rest day and one active recovery day doing something like yoga! Make sure you get a good balance of cardio and resistance training in! Let us know if you have any further questions! 🙌🏻😉

    Haha nice magic trick! I wonder, though, how much all of this cost. Do you have a place that discounts if you buy in bulk?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 років тому +4

      Haha thanks, Tyler! Buying fresh fruits and vegetables, especially organic, can get expensive, but yes, we shop at our local co-op that provides all kinds of perks and does discount bulk purchases, as well! We also justify this by having zero medical bills, we don't go out to dinner like we used to 2-3x per week, we pack our lunches to go instead of going to restaurants, and we also canceled our cable and gym! Every healthy lifestyle choice that we've made in other areas has allowed us to live (and eat) more freely and feel our best! It's taken a long time to get to this point, but we absolutely love it! Hope this helps! :)

    • @EatMoveRest

      If you were wondering about those spice jars in our fridge btw, they are filled with flax, chia, hemp, shredded coconut, and cacao! We keep those in there b cause they last longer that way and it's an easy way to grab them to put in smoothies and sprinkle on top of bowls!

      Thank you so much! That's great that you're transitioning to a healthier way of eating! Start to replace chips with baked sweet potato wedges or baking your own chips, and replace sweets with fruits! Make fruit smoothies or for desserts make "nice cream" or dates are also a nice sweet treat and can used for lots of different dessert recipes!

    Just discovered your channel. 100+ videos and not a single shopping video.
    Everything is “look at we already do”...
    Nothing about the “how”...
    The value is teaching how to implement in a simple way.
    Daily meals.
    The Shopping for those meals
    Recipes.
    Specifics..
    “What I eat in a day”
    The lifestyle stuff is great but useless aside from establishing the idea of lifestyle, which you’ve already done a great job at...
    The name itself establishes that...

    hey! how do you afford to eat raw?!? I just started going in that direction but I don't have it in my budget. Any advice?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 років тому +7

      Hey Taylor! Great question! We are not 100% raw, but yes, eating whole foods can still be expensive. #1, organic is not completely necessary-eating conventional produce is still going to be far healthier than eating processed junk and animal products. #2, buy in bulk when possible-we get a 15% discount at our local co-op for buying cases of produce like bananas, mangos, etc. #3 (most important) this is truly more than a diet-it's a lifestyle! We have done more than just changed the way we spend money at the grocery store-we have also become conscious in other areas of our lives that have saved us a ton of money. For example, we rarely eat out, never eat fast food, it saves us tons of money every week. We cut our cable bill-we simply don't need tv. We got a Nest thermostat to help us be more conscious of our A/C and heating usage. We compost and recycle which cuts down on trash/waste removal costs. We recently connected with HealthIQ which cut our life insurance in half because we are vegans! We don't take medications and don't get sick as often which eliminates doctor bills…I could go on and on, but I hope this helps you to think of creative ways you might be able to cut costs in areas of your life that aren't serving you-and to better see that spending money on foods IS most definitely serving you! ;) Much Love, Erin
