    So Spinn technical support saw this video and sent me some useful suggestions. I'll share it here:
    "I happened to catch your 4 month review, and I just first wanted to say thank you for all the kind words! I shared it with the team and we're all so happy to see you're enjoying the machine!
    Also, I can even help with some of the sticking points a bit! We definitely need to make this known via better documentation or even a "quick tip" in the app, but (while brewing) you can long press the Spinn button to cancel the current serving.
    Additionally, in the same menu where you'll find the cleaning option you'll see one that says "hopper flush." This is used to clear the last few straggler beans when switching roasts. Personally I don't mind a blended cup or two, but if you want a clean switch you can run that hopper flush and it will grind the remaining beans directly into the residue bin."

    • @Bigsam411
      @Bigsam411 2 роки тому

      What happens when you do a hopper flush? Do the remaining beans just fall out and get to be reused if needed? My wife drinks Decaf and I drink caffienated and it would be nice to easily swap the beans out without wasting any.

    • @SalemWoodworks
      @SalemWoodworks  2 роки тому

      @@Bigsam411 I don't know. I'm currently traveling and will have to try it when I get home. I know we're hooked, because I have found myself considering a 2nd machine for decaf (I realize this is insane and so far reason has won out).

      Definitely the best spinn review video by far. I was a first round Pro buyer. I am VERY glad I canceled the order, even though I could have sold it unopened for more than I paid. Since my initial pre order I have tried 8 different wifi connected coffee makers and I like almost all of them better than this. What Do you have yours hooked up to a water supply? if you mentioned it I must have skipped it.

    • @SalemWoodworks
      @SalemWoodworks  2 роки тому +2

      @@MichaelMantion I have mine connected to a reverse osmosis filter system. The same one that feeds the ice/water in the fridge. I still like the machine, but admit that I have long term reliability concerns. Of the machines that you've tried, did any grind on demand? Do they produce the same variety of options as the Spinn? I regularly use coffee, lungo and iced coffee options on the Spinn and really like the flavor we get.

    This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

    Mine showed up on my doorstep along with the frother and the carafe, and boy howdy was I surprised! It had been so long since I ordered it from Kickstarter that I completely forgot that I bought it. I'm glad you mentioned how much the pro was early on in the campaign, because I've been wondering how much I paid for it. Lol! Emails started showing up from spin, and I didn't even open them, I just assumed it was some sort of wheelchair company Spam. I am in a wheelchair full-time, so I get a lot of that crap. I haven't been back to Kickstarter in years, so I totally forgot that I even did this. That being said, I am so glad I did! This thing is freaking bangin'. My new favorite toy!

    I recently purchased a Spinn and your video is what tipped me over that pause of skepticism and I couldn’t be happier with the machine! Thank you for your detailed review. I used to use K-cup machines for years and this is a HUGE upgrade in quality of the brew!!
    Quick question, from your experience does the small clear plastic shield over the grinder serve any other purpose other than a extra layer of safety to prevent unwanted items from entering the grinder?
    As you’ve mentioned, and I also as I’ve experienced, if you’re not paying close attention the beans don’t always slide down to the grinder and sometimes I have to take the top off and push them under that clear safety “tent”. Not a huge inconvenience but I was curious if that could be avoided with that shield removed and since the unit has a lid anyways, it can be safely operated as long as the lid is always on while brewing.
    Thanks again for the video!

    • @SalemWoodworks

      I do know that removing thie plastic shield will void your warranty, so I can't recommend it. I know that by switching to less oily beans we have fewer issues with bean feed.

    This is a Vertuoline coffee machine made by Nespresso without the pod. While not having a pod is good.... unfortunately, this machine also comes with the flawed brew method that gives you whipped coffee. There is no crema here. You are forcing air to create a foam instead of true CO2, creating crema. This machine also has water not technically hot enough for espresso.
    This is novel, kinda like Vertuoline is, but has its flaws also. I sent mine back. I ended up getting a Delonghi machine. This machine is decent for just coffee but is not espresso .

    It is not clear that the brewing is any different from one Market coffee to the next. They say that variable parameters will be visible and can be set. The next question, as yet unanswered, is Who decides the brew. Ideally it would be the roaster who is primarily responsible for, and cupping each roast for consistent taste.

    • @SalemWoodworks

  • @DJaquithFL
    @DJaquithFL 2 роки тому

    It has one major Achilles heel and that is swapping out different coffees on the fly, which is the only reason that we're still stuck with our Keurig. Not to mention I have a rather expensive espresso machine but I'm not a fan of Americano. Everyone in our house drinks different beans and no one can agree on just one bean. My wife only wants decaffeinated that's it. My daughter likes very dark roast, I absolutely do not. Then to add to that I have my son-in-law living with us. And if everyone has that, let's save the planet attitude to them ... Do you have any idea what the carbon footprint is for coffee? The nearest slavery like conditions harvesting the beans? It pales in comparison to whatever plastics that Keurig pops out.
    Bottom line, there needs to be a solution with this to where we can measure out our beans. Slap them in there. Push a button. And I'm not talking about having to whip out my cell phone in the morning which is a pain just to think about. I rather spend a few more bucks and have a tablet Ziploc tied to the coffee machine. I wonder what the carbon footprint's going to be on that Gizmo. Anyway, I'm just ranting... I guess I'm tired of hearing people whining about Keurig pods.

    • @DJaquithFL
      @DJaquithFL 2 роки тому

      .. Also, I don't think that cleaning agents are exactly environmentally beneficial. I wonder how many Keurig pods worth of plastic are in those two bottles?

    • @SalemWoodworks
      @SalemWoodworks  2 роки тому

      Yes, it's certainly not the right machine for you if your family insists on four different kinds of coffee on demand. Given one set of beans, it has a LOT more versatility than a Keurig machine in term of the coffee drinks it can make. The coffee flavor is much better than the Keurig... it's not even a close competition there (and I loved my Keurig). As for your environmental rationalization... I'll leave that for you to debate with your son-in-law. It's fair to say any consumer thinking about a $1000ish coffee machine isn't living a carbon-neutral life in any case.

      @@SalemWoodworks .. What's really needed and I wasn't certain if it offered it was single dosing. I have a Ceado E37SD for our Decent DE1XL so I assûmed Moccamaster Select would do the trick .. I was wrong.

      I have the Pro model connected to a water line fed from a reverse osmosis filter. I skip the Spinn filters.

      How do,you add the trace calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium back in from your RO before it goes into the machine (minerals needed to extract the full coffee flavor profile potential)

    For “real” people who can’t afford a $K for a coffee maker, this thing is absolutely ridiculous! $500 for a milk frother and a tiny glass carafe??? Good beans and pretty much any cheap coffee maker will make just as good of a cup.

      So far we've found it to be expensive junk that makes really good coffee. I admit that I have some long term reliability concerns.
