This convinced me to give it a try. I have been an espresso purist with a heavily modded gaggia machine but my busy schedule has had me looking for an easier way. Just ordered the machine and am pretty excited to play around with it.
This looks like the perfect gift for my Mum or something, but... i'm too scared of a new product with overly complicated internals, and a 45 day warranty, no thank you. However, I will be keeping a close eye to see if it gains traction in the market. Great video!
Question! I had a spinal cord injury he recently that left my s hand a bit limited. I am a former barista and really value making a great pour over. While I can do it with some assistance it is quite a hassle to do. Does this give you options for grind size/ customization for a pour over? This might be some thing I would want to purchase down the line for its automation. Thanks
Wow! First, thanks for commenting and so sorry about your injury! In the spinn app you get options for customizing dose (coffee weight) and beverage size, but not grind size unfortunately. By messing with these two settings you can adjust your ratio pretty flexibly and I was really impressed with the “pour over” flavor even though the brewing process is a little different. If ALL you want is a pour over, the xbloom does do a great job and gives you options to control ratio, grind size, and water temp. BUT you’re also locked in with pods and the Spinn has a way more well rounded menu. Feel free to drop more follow up questions!

I still really like the Niche zero, and the new Duo is something to keep an eye on as well! I have a review in the works on it. I think this decision comes down to how much you want to make a hobby out of coffee. The spinn will make you great coffee every day but a bambino/grinder def sets you on more of a hobby trajectory

I've seen some Spinn reviews which say it doesn't create as strong "regular" black coffee. Seems like it did okay with your first drink. Any thoughts on Aeropress vs Spinn for regular coffee? (Also to confirm there's no bypass for the occasional decaf or whatever?)
it seems affordable from my understanding of espresso (to buy a grinder, machine, the necessary tools etc) and produces more than just espresso. I'm struggling to see the downside here, besides I do like the idea of doing espresso the traditional way.
I didn’t count exactly but it is several. I think how many depends on the menu item you’re making. It also has an indicator that tells you when it needs to be emptied!

One question I had relating to this, do you HAVE to be connected to the internet to connect to this or is that a wifi/Bluetooth connection to your phone app and the unit? This will be perfect to have in an RV/camper, but I know of quite a few (not even isolated really, Saugatuck, MI for example as a whole, and many state parks throughout the country) areas that have spotty internet connection and cell signal.
How do they call it nitro cold brew when no nitrogen gas is actually added to the coffee? It's just a cold brew. Actually, not even a cold brew when cold brew takes 12 hours or more of brew time.
Not sure how it creates it but the texture is almost identical to real nitro. Obviously there is no nitrogen tank so it’s some variant on the drink. I think if they called it anything else people would not really have any idea what the drink was. I think we need to be careful gatekeeping these terms. Lots of people make “cold brew” in aeropress over the span of a few minutes and no one batts an eye. Regardless of the presence or absence of a nitrogen tank, the result is the best approximation of real nitro that I’ve had.
@@DaddyGotCoffee It's not "gatekeeping" a term. It's called nitro because there is nitrogen in it. Without the nitrogen, it's not a nitro drink. I can't offer someone a pb&j sandwich, leave off the peanut butter and say, eh, close enough, I can still call it a pb&j. Trying to claim it makes all these other style drinks without the actual ingredients that make those drinks is disingenuous.
How would you compare it to the TK-01? If you buy one, which one would it be? There is pre-sale for TK-02. I currently have Oracle touch but I don’t always dial in the settings correctly and tired of wasting a lot of beans to dial my settings right. I mainly drink espresso and latte.
@@alimansour1018 - even though it’s a little unconventional I would probably choose the spinn just because of its flexibility. I like to enjoy a fair bit of filter coffee and pour overs too though.
It looks awesome but it would have been smarter if they somehow were able to make swappable coffee containers. So you can easily switch between coffee beans.
I’m just returning mine after using it for 20 days. It made a great cuppa coffee, but it kept leaking all over the counter, regardless of how many times I emptied the yanks

Makes everything huh, bwahaha... looks like it makes an expensive/exaggerated mess. Might be fine for less demanding (BORING) brew methods, but something like that simply can't approach espresso nirvana regardless of how much 'spinn' you put on it.
It makes a decent espresso for most users. I believe I said this explicitly in the review but espresso enthusiasts should look in a different direction. I think that is obvious. This machine is for casual home coffee enjoyers, not espresso enthusiasts. To be fair though, I’d like to see you make a comparable Nitro cold brew on your slayer or La Marzocco

The coffee looks terrible. It is water. Nothing will ever replace the REAL Espresso machines. This machine is ok for Americans because you like coloured water but for the rest of us, that's a big no

You can use it without their filter. Just use filtered water.

If you’re looking for something like this check out the xbloom. It only makes pour over style but is really good in its own right

Yeah, I should have said Nitro-like. It really tastes and has the texture of nitro, but that effect is created using air as opposed nitrogen.
