Great picks! I am currently reading the biography of Dexter his wife wrote, and it talks extensively about the time he spent in Europe. Thank you so much for sharing with us. - Chris

She presented it here in Copenhagen before a showing of “Round Midnight” and added several stories of things Dexter made up/improvised during the filmning. Seems he was a cheerful guy.
Some really great choices here Cap! Always love some Bill Evans, as we all do. I actually really enjoy that Kai & JJ record it’s a good one. That Gigi Gryce record is really hard to find a but a damn good album. Cheers!

That Gigi Gryce is hard to find
Yes - and so are some of his other recordings as well (I bought my copy for USD 15 more than 10 year ago - would be hard today).
I think they didn't sell in large numbers back then. And since he left the jazz/music scene in 1960/61 (and became a teacher in Bronx) there were no later records to send lister "back" in the catalogue and request his earlier recordings.
Prestige should definitely release some of his records on vinyl - they deserve it!
