Could use a soldering iron and a straight edge to melt through the vinyl backed carpet just enough to make a hinge for bending it around the deck edges. Great series guys!
I did not glue my carpet because it’s easier to change if it gets funky. So if your budget is even tighter you could save a little there too. Not saying it’s wrong or right but I did mine that way and it was fine. Thanks for you videos !
Hey bud, I use the same carpet from home Depot and it works fine for me. I don't use the carpet adhesive like you guys though, I use contact cement. A One gallon can should be enough for the whole boat. The cement adds an almost rubberized backing. Roll it on with a 3/8" napp roller
Paint the staples the color of the carpet before using them to staple with. Saves time.. A light coat of spray paint etc. will nnot stop them from working and will not clog up the stapler.
I think that the different color carpet makes it look better. Anyway would of like to see how you attached the front frame to the benches. Did you just screw the frame onto the benches? What type of screws? etc.... Thinking of going this route with my jon but worried about the screws pulling out of the benches after walking around on it for a prolonged period of time. Looks good man.
J Schroeder we haven’t attached it to the boat yet, it’s a tight enough fit that we technically shouldn’t have to, however I’m sure we will since the trolling motor is attached to the deck
I got some Roberts 6700 carpet glue for the same sky grey carpet on my build, but my friend who is helping me build this told me that carpet glue would seep through the carpet, so I was going to take it back and buy some spray on headliner glue. How thin did you spread your carpet glue, and did you let it sit and tack any before applying the carpet?
I Like it... I am planning on using some of your ideas on the Boat The wife is going to get me for Christmas,,, ( I still have to tell her what she is getting me).. lol
solar voodoo I haven’t decided yet, I’m sure that it would be ok if we didn’t secure it, however the trolling motor will be attached to it, so for peace of mind we probably will
FIREANT FISHING yes. Guy did it with a all aluminum jet boat. Video is on here. Should be easier with a Jon boat. That's about the only thing you haven't done yet.. lol
Great series on this jon boat. Short and to the point without missing important details. Cant wait to see the final product fully assemble.
this video is exactly what I needed. For the life of my i couldnt figure out the easiest way to cut hatches and have the frame be the support thanks
Making mistakes is all about learning, you have to start somewhere, you're doing a awesome job

Ive enjoyed wayching this series as well as your 16' project! Great job!! Keep them coming brother!
looking good my man!! very beneficial to see it is possible to do this on a budget

Thanks for you videos !
It would be nice to see an updated video! ;)
Can you do a video on an update with this boat?????? Currently building one and loved these videos!!!!!!!!
Boom! Looks cool bro my floor is diff color scheme than my deck too! I think it looks cool to break it up a bit and I did mine by choice like that😉

John Wismann hmm...didn’t think about that, thank you!
Great videos! How about an update? How's this build progressing? Finished yet?
Is there a part 7 ? The finished project video?
Really like the boat mods and the music selections (what is music?)

In the future you're going to have to try using a foam roller. Trust me it is a godsend with oil-based enamel.
READY FOR THE NEXT VID!!!
Looks good.

Love the videos and info, so roughly what was your total investment on the 16' project? just trying to see if it's cheaper to buy bass boat
In the budget build could you use a paint with sand for traction instead of carpet ?
will u secure the deck to the boat or does it just lay in there? nice video btw

So i have a question i have a old jon boat from the 70s my grandfather had its old school narrow one could i put a casting deck on it? Its 14 foot
Did this ever get finished?
So do you think you could make one wider? Seen a guy on here do it and it works.
make the entire boat wider?
FIREANT FISHING yes. Guy did it with a all aluminum jet boat. Video is on here. Should be easier with a Jon boat. That's about the only thing you haven't done yet.. lol
I just got a 12 ft jonboat from craigslist and it was carpeted
what part of GA are you from? I'm in south GA near Thomasville
nice job!
Where do you get the aluminum from?
hey since your name is fire ant fishing why dont you do a fishing challenge with the booyah fire ant spinner bait I would like to see that viedo.
tazfishing tv good idea man, never herd or seen them, but I’ll look into it!
could diy truck bed liner be used instead of carpet??
That's a great idea . As long as it was the type that is hella textured tho . That slick kind would be a nightmare once wet
What does it look like
No primer cote??
Sealed with oil based enamel
Polaris sportsman 500 motovlog?
