  • When it comes to professional Badminton player's rackets, a lot of people are really interested in if they use the 3u or 4u version. Most Badminton rackets will come with these different versions, they are exactly the same as one another except the 3u version weighs more than the 4u. In this video, I will be looking at what weighted Badminton racket some of the professionals use as well as what I think they have.

    I have known people who are friends with professional players. I can confirm that Kevin Sanjaya is using 4U, and Marcus Gideon is using 3U. Momota’s astrox99 is 4U, but unsure if he has switched to a 3U for the astrox99pro. Pearly Tan uses a 4U with added lead tape at the top for extra swing weight. Tan Boon Heong uses a 2U and Koo Kien Keat a 3U. Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan uses 3U, but their rackets are mostly customised (for example, Z Force 1 painted to look like a Duora 10, or Z Force 2 painted to look like LD Force). Aaron Chia and Goh V Shem are using 3U Arcsaber 11 (V Shem customises the grommets for some reason). Lee Zii Jia uses a 3U. Mayu Matsumoto (womens doubles) surprisingly uses a 3U. There used to be a stir that professional players only used 3U because ‘they can handle it’ and I’ve seen quite a few of my friends only buy 3U rackets because they want to be like them. Players tend to match their preferred racket weight suited to their style of play, but some may just have their own separate preferences regardless of discipline. Same goes for string tension, while everyone may think pros use crazy high tensions at 30lbs +, Lee Yang only uses 28lbs tension and that suits him well enough to earn him a gold model in Tokyo. So purchase rackets and string the tensions to suit your level of play and what feels most comfortable for u! And great video keep up the good work !!!

I'm mostly a singles player using a 3UG4 ZF2, but am also able to use this same racquet in doubles and I play mostly front court during doubles (I'm not professional/national level but I did play competitively prior to the pandemic). Yes, I think it depends on how the playing style for each player
    I use both 3U and 4U, .
    usually I use 3U at the first game of the match. .
    and then switch into 4u at the second game or on the rubber game
    and its work properly on me. .

    Nice channel. You ask directly to professional players.
    FYI. Marcus Fernaldy Gideon use 3U, I tried his racket. Maybe because he is hard hitter with strong power and dominate play in back court. He needs heavy racket & head heavy to generate more power/ momentum.
    Good luck for your channel 💪

    i use 3U and i played doubles majourity of the time. that doesnt mean i dont like 4U. i usually try rackets out to then judge what which i would prefer if i like that frame. atm i use a 3U astrox 100ZX. i personally dont find it head heavy enough so i opt for 3U than 4U for just that extra power.

    One more thing needs to take account with is the Player version rackets' weight distribution, graphite layer are different to the ones selling on market.
    Especially Yonex rackets, the difference between Player Version and Market Version is massive. I had a chance to try the NanoFlare 700 (Green/Blue) Player Version, which is in 3u, balance point is close to 300mm.
    The specs are completely different to the market stock, which only offers in 4u & 5u and balance point is no way close to 290mm

    • @BadmintonAnalysis
      @BadmintonAnalysis  2 роки тому +1

      That's really interesting, I don't know why the player version rackets are sometimes different to the market version

    • @kennethiu2775
      @kennethiu2775 2 роки тому +3

      @@BadmintonAnalysis I think there are certain factors contribute to the difference between player version and market version:
      - Players' requirement
      - To accommodate the constant high tension stringing on the racket.
      - Manufacturing cost
      - Sometimes not all player sponsored rackets are better than market version, as there are some rackets that couldn't pass QC (for instance, weight, balance & paint job) would be given to players.

      @@muhammadtkd8027 Of course the brand/manufacturer would need him to say this. Try to trace back to the times that he was using the Astrox 88s, the handle/shaft proportion is different to the ones selling on market, have you ever seen a 88s with such long handle?
      Also I heard from tournament stringers that the Duora Zstrike he used actually has both sides with "forehand frame" that's why he doesn't have to adjust the side when he plays.

    Most recreational players at my club get sold a 4U at the shop since they want a 100ZZ or 88S etc, but couldn’t handle the 3U version. Good sales advise from the store owner. All of the players training at a high level age 17-30 are using 3U mostly.

    i like 3U rackets as they swing solid. though i am a recreational player, the weight dont bother me. not becos i am very good but the pace in recreational games are alot slower. thus reaction time is not an issue. i also have 4u rackets and tricks are much easier as last minute changes is lesst taxing on the wrist. but still prefer the solid feel of a 3u. also the head heaviness of the racket affects the swing and reaction time more than the wieght if distribute well.
