Some of the best video’s out there. So many “sailing” channels aren’t sailing at the moments builds, life and family growth. But, truthfully, I can’t wait for your videos they are so very well done. Excellent!!
This passage brings back many memories for me. 52 years ago I made the same passage in an old classic 40' wooden double-ender ketch. Lots of wind and rain, but a great feeling to finally arrive in Oz Enjoy Australia.
This is a super neat channel. I just found it and their wooden boat is impressive and I appreciate them not sticking a naked chick in the thumbnail or being over dramatic like many other sailing channels. And my alberg 30 is in Seattle where they left from
When I was very young, I watched this boat being built on the West Coast of BC, Canada. She is very good boat with many years ahead of good sailing. Good Luck.
What a treat to find another video from Madison Boatworks. Your videos so beautifully capture the very spirit and beauty of blue water sailing for this desert dweller to enjoy. A rough passage, but a good boat and able crew handled the challenge well. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures.
Madison Boatworks- THANK YOU! I patiently await each and every one of your videos, as they bring a sense of excitement and joy to me. Seeing two beautiful young people experiencing a full and exciting life allows me to live vicariously. I once was with a wonderful woman and had dreams of having a full and exciting life with her, however it never came to fruition. Watching you two is like a healing tonic for my long ago lost, but not forgotten dream. You are unbelievably fortunate to have each other, and to be able to share such extraordinary experiences together. You are making memories that will last a lifetime and undoubtedly create a bond between the two of you like no other. I hope you keep sailing and making videos until I am long gone. Fair winds and bless you both!
It was a relief to see you arrive safely in Brisbane. Have been following your adventure across the Pacific. Your cinematography, editing, background music and measured commentary are done to exquisite perfection. Thank you and hope you are able to indulge in some relaxing sight-seeing while you are here.
Congratulations on your most excellent Pacific crossing. Agreeably the best sailing/voyaging video available. Watched every one. Know that you are loved and deeply respected. Being a 71 year old wooden boat voyager makes it even better when the star of the show is the lovely humble ketch Julia. Having sailed extensively aboard Cariad (‘71-‘73), RS 28 Sandefjord (73), three masted gaff schooner Sant Cruz (‘73-‘75) , Fife yawl Latifa (‘78-‘79), ketch Valdivia (‘80), A&R yawl Typee (‘87-‘00), all wonderful wooden vessels, it makes my heart sing seeing Julia and you two in action. A voyage of a lifetime and for the ages. Heartfelt love and blessings. Kendall Steinmetz, Andrew’s father.
Your channel is the best! This is what, as I imagine, is sailing the world about. And the way you get this on camera, fantastic! Have fun in Australia, enjoy!
What a journey ,You two are setting a high bar for others. Your videos and dialogue are so interesting. Even the music you are choosing is great. Love this .cheers from B.C. Between the Fraser and Vedder Rivers
Welcome to Australia..!! We hope you have a great time here - it's a really big place, eh?? Loved the episode, and glad you finaly got a chance to rest. Cheers, Grant, Adelaide, South Australia
I took some screenshots of your previous videos of some sunset and atoll. It seemed like your first big ocean adventure went right into the most exotic islands --the Marquesas and Tuomotu. I even swing on the couch with your boat while watching your passage. Almost got a feeling on board. and a little seasick...hahaha :D
Your channel and sailing Florence are the only sailing channels I need. Both are so amazing! I picture you being great friends if you ever met them. Safe travels! 🎉
Thank you for making videos that can be watched. Some channels edit every second for no reason or zoom in and out for no reason, or use time lapse or slow motion for no reason.
I've just stumbled upon your channel. Thoroughly absorbing and holistic sailing without the orchastrated theatrics and drama of some other sailing channels.
Everyone sez the camera flattens the waves. Those waves didn't look flat. Fantastic video, great boat and crew. Hope you enjoy Australia, hi from Perth the first Americas Cup winners.
Fantastic! I always try to explain to friends that the size of the seas never comes through on video but watching the boat climb up from the bottom to the top of the swells I knew what you were going through. It would be a special treat if after you post the last Julia video, you do a retrospective of your trip and a how you are doing now. Thank you!
I’m. Watching adventures of an old sea dog and sailing fair isle . Each have their appeal . I do find your videos have a pleasant and Simple elegance .
Where to begin, Two beautiful souls living a life of adventure nor ever knowing what lay ahead of the turbulent weather, no matter how hard you prepare for a safe passage. Galadriel and Celeborn of the high seas , a lady who has unforeseen powers and an overwhelming beauty that cannot be ignored. Celeborn, a man of talents and wisdom, together they are unique and a bond that cannot be broken. I wait in patience for the next episode of your journey and it weighs heavy on one to know that you are both safe and well. I too was meant to set sail from the UK, 2 years ago, for a 10 year voyage. My fitness was good as a dinghy sailer at Bewl water but I contracted covid and set me back, it took a year to regain fitness and I caught the virus again, again my health was back to square one and all hope of regaining health has diminished. I'm very happy you 2 are doing what I could not. Even though your videos are not forthcoming as I would like, less is more and I think you Two have the right recipe for channel.blogging.stay safe xxx
So glad to see you make it across the Big Blue! Our heartfelt congratulations. You two are producing a classic, Bluewater sailing channel. There are few left. A heartfelt 'hats off' t both of you for making it through one of life's greatest adventures. Now what? My wife and I are preparing for what we think will soon occur in the US. My suggestion is to consider recrossing the Pacific, in the other direction, should a disaster (planned) overtake the US, prior to the planned Inaguration. It's time for the old A and B plans. We both hope we are wrong about that. However, two plans are better than one. Whatever happens, and whatever you do, from our little family of two, to yours, FAIR WINDS and safe passage-making. Warmets regards, Dorian and Cathy on SV Arcanum. Peace
Dear Madison I always look forward to your videos, they may not be posted on a weekly basis like others, but always worth the wait. Carry on and the best of luck to both of you and the boat. John from Canada
This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen and I feel like I’ve been living under a rock! Beautiful boat, fabulous sailing, and competent videography. A joy to watch! Regarding your propane problem, you should consider a paraffin burner. Yes they are a bit smelly and messy at times, but I used one for years and it was reliable and trouble free…
well done guys, now you can enjoy this big country at your pace. your videos are the best sailing videos I have ever watch, a great thank you for the effort of making them ;-)
You're two pretty brave salty souls. Resourcefulness and anticipation are your guardian angels. Your ketch is beautiful and tough. Good arduous crossing. Nice going. Chris
congratulations guys! Australian waters sound nutz. I think it was the only place where Francis Chichester capsized on his non stop voyage to Australia so well done!
What an adventure of a lifetime! I thoroughly enjoyed watching all your documentary sailing videos across the mighty Pacific. It must be a bit scary sailing at night when you can't see the waves coming towards you.. Definitely an endurance of both mental and physical challenges. Bring it all together in a book perhaps..? Take your time, and enjoy Australia!
Great to see you both on camera, sharing your experiences. You nailed the b-rolls and voiceovers but the on-camera talking adds that personal touch to it. The aesthetics of your channel is best in class, from the look and feel of the boat to your demeanor to the production. Big fans. 🎉

yes shes an interesting boat, with dyneema and spliced wire onto wooden masts
This exact boat? That is so cool! She was launched in 1960, I believe on Cortez Island by Buster Christiansen. Her original name was Chrislo.
What a treat to find another video from Madison Boatworks. Your videos so beautifully capture the very spirit and beauty of blue water sailing for this desert dweller to enjoy. A rough passage, but a good boat and able crew handled the challenge well. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures.
I can't thank you enough for taking me along on this fantastic voyage ! You guys are awesome.🎉
You two are really something else ! Complete sailors, tough ! Thank you for sharing and, of course, be safe going forward !
What to say... seaworthy boat + seaworthy skippers = A lesson in seamanship. Thanks for taking us aboard yet again!
Fantastic. Still the best sailing videos out there.

Welcome to Brisbane. Exciting to see you in my hometown. cheers.❤
Welcome to the land down under. Great video again. Enjoy Australia.
I stay in the middle of Southern Africa, Botswana. This channel made me love sailing so much, though far away from the oceans.
Everyone sez the camera flattens the waves. Those waves didn't look flat.
Fantastic video, great boat and crew.
