Hallelujah from Handel's Messiah - A Superior Peformance by MEGARON Choir and Orchestra

- Messiah (HWV 56) is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel. The text was compiled from the King James Bible and the Coverdale Psalter by Charles Jennens. It was first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
Megaron Choir is in my humble opinion one of the best European youth choirs. Their energy, virtuosity, and competence are beyond rational understanding.
Megaron Chamber Choir was founded in October 2003 on the initiative of Damijan Močnik, composer and conductor, and united former students of the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium at St. Stanislav’s Institution in Ljubljana, who had before been active in various choral ensembles and received music education in one or more of the five choirs at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium. As such, Megaron Chamber Choir represents the peak of the choir pyramid of St. Stanislav’s Institution. In the sixteen years since its founding, Megaron Chamber Choir has evolved into a high-quality choir performing regularly in Slovenia as well as in Austria, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Poland, USA, and Canada, and thus earning a reputation at home as well as abroad.

Simply , this is the very best Hallelujah chorus I've ever heard last fifty plus years . Wonderful performance ( choir members , director alike ) ,superb quality video recording ! Thanks a lot for posting this joyous video . from CANADA
Beautiful; very well done ... KING of Kings and LORD of Lords, indeed. Thank you.
I first heard Handel's Messiah in its entirety in October 1963. Since then I have sung the Alleluia many times in a mixed boys' choir, from Salamanca to Krakow, from Riga to Rome and , for 60 years, I still relive the same emotion.
Georg Friedrich Handel left his mark on his time thanks to his intense and majestic compositions. In this vast fresco composed in 1741, Handel displays all the nuances of his consummate art of sound painting, recycling if necessary some of his Italian duets composed the same year. He drew his inspiration from the music of his native country, Germany, he was inspired by his numerous travels, particularly to Italy, and he was attached to the traditions of his adopted country, England. This oratorio is the subtle balance between the recitatives, few in number, the arias and the choruses contributes to the support of the dramatic action; the intensity is maintained, as is often the case, with great sobriety of means in the writing by virtue to the chord orchestration. His talent and this clever mix have made him one of the greatest composers still performed firmly in the prestigious operas. Many of the master's oratorios are still performed nowadays, but it is truly Messiah which left its mark on the history of music. Music accompanies life! *Lucien* 💙

Fantastic! Bless you all!
Grazie x tanta bellezza Daniela Gorizia 🙏💞💖
Powerful performance!!!
Čudovito! Taka hitrost je za me veliko boljša kot predvajajo običajno! Zato to je ena najboljših izvedb Hallelujah;)
So wundervoll gesungen, Händel war ein Genie
Bravissimo
Extraordinaire respect pour les musiciens, que vous nommez un par un! Chapeau!
Superior performance is right. From what I could see, it looked like it was performed on period instruments. I don't remember how long ago, but we attended a concert of the Christmas segment on the Messiah with the Midland Symphony Orchestra, Midland, Michigan. and the entire audience sang the Hallelujah chorus. We were provided (of course) with the music and lyrics.
Beautiful!
Halleluia Chorus!

Irrepreensível! Gloriosa apresentação!!! 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I’ve listened to a lot of these. This is one of the best. Some drown it out with too much horns. I hate when they do that. I want to hear the choir.
Wonderful Performance

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that at least some of the musicians are playing on period instruments
It is true dear Michael. The whole baroque orchestra played their period instruments. 😊
