    As an Aussie born in the 70's and who grew up around these cars and with Mad Max 1 and 2 I'm loving these resto videos. I'm kind of glad I just discovered them today though since they come out so far apart. I've just binge watched these first 4 episodes this morning. Now I'm hoping I don't have to wait months or more for the next episode! Great work on these cars guys!

      We are so glad you found our videos and are enjoying them! Welcome to the fun. We do put out content with some regularity. However for series videos such as this Interceptor build it can take a bit. The work itself goes by somewhat quickly, but even still collecting the footage takes some time. More so because we have to take often hours of video and edit it down to a watchable video while keeping the narrative and documenting all the elements of the build for everyone. That can be a task that absorbs an enormous amount of time. Still we will try to get the next episode out ASAP. Glad you got to binge watch the series so far! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment!

    Mate thats good work. Some of these things were full of rust even in the 80's.
    Good to see them getting fixed up nice, even if it took them going overseas to make it happen.
    Just a bit of trivia. Did you guys know that the original ideas and sketches for the coupes were done on the back of a napkin in a resteraunt. The final design didnt look that differant.
    Love the videos 👍.

      I sometimes wonder if any of my old girls have ended up in the US getting the the treatment from you guys.

    Metalwork,, on a Falcon Coupe. Grind out the bog and discover little car left.
    That is a really good one,,the A pillars are not rotten and cracked.
    And the RIGHT side of the car is the drivers side of the car
    Rear wheel arches, rear of roof, boot gutters and tailight panel and possibly rear rails and boot floor

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  3 роки тому

      Indeed. We did start with media blasting the car after tear down (in episode 1), instead of grinding. You can see how rough (or not depending on your opinion) it was in that video. In Episode 2 & 3 as well as here in 4 you can check out all the metal work we did. You nailed it on a lot of what has been done so far. You might note are are referring to the right side as the drivers side in this video. If you want to check out the other episodes see the links in the description above.

    Awesome work shop crew and work , do you have to paint the steel fab work straight away or when ever is convenient

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you! Rust prevention urgency on the fresh metalwork depends a bit on your shop conditions. Ours is clean dry and warm, plus we do an epoxy primer on the whole body right after media blasting before we start repairs. Many of the new panels already have E coating on them which is quality enough to paint over and prevents rust. So ultimately there is not a whole lot of bare metal, and it all gets coated soon after all the metalwork is complete. So I guess the short answer is, for us we can get to it when we are ready.

    Pleasure to watch a master at work. How long does a replica build take?

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  3 роки тому +3

      Very glad you are enjoying it! Each build is a little (or a lot) different, depending on things like how much restoration the base car needs, and client choices such as drivetrain and what custom touches are wanted etc. So it actually varies quite a bit from build to build. If you are interested in having a car built, the guys on our team could give you a better idea of how long your specific build might take. You can reach them at www.madmaxcars.com

    It's great to see all these years later that Mad Max probably has a stronger following than ever. It's also very cool that these amazing cars are being appreciated and treated right. As a kid I remember just how many use to be stripped out dead in wrecking yards. In my view they are the best looking cars we ever produced down here. The videos really show those unfamiliar with these old beasts how much it takes to get the metal work done. They have an awesome back end with a lot of shape but damn they do rust bad there. I have had to do pretty much everything you have tackled so far so I can imagine how many hours of work has gone into making these videos. I am looking forward to see the plenum/wiper panel area repairs in a future episode, fun and games there also! Rust in these as you have shown is the gift that keeps on giving! Fantastic videos and great work!

Mad Max has really had a resurgence, in particular since Fury Road came out (regardless of how some may feel about the movie itself). We do see plenum rust quite often. How much does max car cost? Ballpark please

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  2 роки тому

      As for a ballpark, on the rare occasions they come up on the open market and/or in our classifieds as "for sale by owner", prices seem to currently range from about $150,000 to $250,000 for builds we have done. Builds by other makers can be somewhat less, depending on quality. Total cost for a build varies depending on many factors. Most of which are choices the client makes as to how they want the car built, as every build we do is a custom project planned out with the client. If you would like details, please feel free to contact the team at www.madmaxcars.com
