E28 and e30s are also reliable as hell if even remotely cared for. My current e28 has 296,000 miles and runs beautifully

The reason for a mechanic to decline the work is because thry know its a pain in the butt to work on and they are going to loose their shirt if they take it
Ricky Lahef that is absolutely true. As a matter of fact I personally know a lot of mechanics that when they get a car like that which is way over their head they will send it off to another shop that specializes in that car and fixes them all the time.
I drive a 1988 750iL (also V12) and I would’ve been shocked if the Wizard said yes.
I’ve called mechanics who specialize in BMW, they talk for minutes, then they ask model and year, and hang up without a word.
jacobbrashears yeah those V12 engines are not the easiest cars to work on that’s for sure. I’m surprised that the BMW specialists don’t wanna work on that one though. I’ve been told that a lot of Bimmers with the V12 engines share the same engine as a Rolls Royce Phantom and probably some other similar British made vehicles. Perhaps you might try somebody who specializes in British motors specifically the V12. That’s probably your best bet with that car. I wish you luck

I love my e46 wagon - at 200k miles it doesn’t burn a drop of oil, easy to diy repairs - but I wouldn’t recommend for the faint of heart. You gotta love the design and drive feel of these cars. I also have a Honda Accord and a AAA tow gold membership, they complement the bmw well.
