Thank you very much for your tutorial. You are the BEST presenter / Teacher I have ever seen on U Tube. Excellent for people like me who are visual learners. Fantastic. I’ve just subscribed to your channel
Laura, thank you for your videos. You are the first I looked to when I knew what I wanted to make. I was trying to figure out what to make my son and daughter-in-law as a housewarming gift. This is it. I'm not a great seamstress but this will be a great start. I've bought the book, ruler, and fabric. If I have enough scraps I'm going to make coasters to match.😊
Laura thank you and Eleanor for this log cabin tutorial. Beautiful! I plan to order ruler and book. I learn so much from you Laura. Your instructions make it easy for me to make pretty quilts! Your my favorite!
Thank you! I think this is a very useful ruler for log cabins done with 2.5 strips. I appreciate that you didn’t just show the way you prefer, the stack method, but also showed the flat method. I think I might need to go with that idea. I don’t think I would have ever thought of it, though, on my own. Your tutorial was super helpful to me this time. I had several “ah ha” moments!
This is the very best "how to" for Log Cabin blocks, thank you so much Laura, you explained it so thoroughly which is always your style ! I have a square table so the square is perfect !
Hi, Laura! My favorite tips in this tutorial are: 1) How after laying out a sample block (17:30), you stacked the strips in the order you would sew them; 2) The advantageous camera angle for the viewer to see where you’d place the newest strip on the bottom and already sewn strips on top (18:08); and 3) How you lined up the blocks on two sides at a corner (10:30) so you could see which block was the smallest and thus know what size to square up the rest of the blocks. It's so much more practical and efficient than measuring all four blocks, or say, all 16 (or more?) blocks to make a larger log cabin quilt top. Thanks.
Love this so much I just ordered the book and the ruler. Now off to buy fabric! Thank you for your excellent tutorials. They are so helpful and very much appreciated.
Im a new sew very easy subscriber, I love your videos and how you explain the how toos.. I have just ordered the book and ruler, I love the log cabin block But have never tried to make one.. this is just the push I needed.. Thanks again for such wonderful tutorials.
In just ordered my log cabin ruler. Loved how it worked on your table runner tutorial! Thanks for showing it. Should make log cabins much easier! Thank you.
WOW! I ordered the ruler and my! You are so great to teach. thanks. I wonder, how can I make it triangle at top and bottom? Also, any help on quilting and binding it? Thansk so much
Laura, I've done some of your design videos....I still love the tape measure key-fob.... I adore you, and you are just soothing for me to watch and listen too.... I'm finally getting ready to start quilting something, not sure what.... I did a get charm tote bag that came out great.... and I've been working on just doing some 2 1/2 in squares to triangles.... Lord knows I have every ruler one could need... LOL I have a great sewing room so we'lll see where my quilting goes... this might the project I decide to start with.... as always, thank you for your expertise, and guidance.... at 61 I better get started... LOL . Jon

Great tutorial!!! I have both the older & newest version of QIAD Log Cabin book and the new Log Cabin ruler. This tablerunner will be a great companion to the placemat pattern in the book. I also have Marti Michell's Log Cabin rulers. I Love all of them. BJ
Hi Laura... I love to watch your videos...I have a couple questions...I watched a video of how to make scrub caps and love that quilt hanging in the back ground...is the pattern available to buy? Also I was watching another with a pink iron in it and I'm wondering where to get one...thanks, Valerie
I believe this is the pattern you are looking for ua-cam.com/video/mEROi6myQ9s/v-deo.html and in the description of the iron video you will see a link hopefully that will help. Thanks for asking :-)
Thank you for this video the quilt color combination is beautiful, you're teaching Style is addicting, and your skill-set is enviable :-) did you ever finish Violet crafts abstract lion quilt pattern? If so did you ever do a video of it? I would sure love a how to video on that pattern right out of the gate from opening the package to how to copy the pattern, on what type of paper to sewing it together, It seems to be so daunting for me the size of paper she uses is not available in then tracing paper & I can't seem to find a print shop that prints that size and I would really like to start mine but I need a quilting coach or someone that understands that type of pattern.
Fabric is beautiful. I will try this as I printed out the pattern. One question, what foot do you have on your Bernina for 1/4” seam? Thanks for sharing.
Laura, I view your videos everyday I don't know what I would do without you and I do thank you so much. I have learnt to sew from the many videos on youtube. I just made my first lined curtains and am really wanting to make a quilt. My question can you use mix cottons ie. chintz cottom I have have been gifted with vintage chintz, also is there other recommendations of other materials to make quilts. Love this video beautiful colours..P.S. My 2 King Charles have their Shamrock coats which I made this morning :-)
Mixing fabrics can be done. A few things that I like to keep in mind is, how is going to work together. Eg a stretchy fabric and a non-stretchy fabric most likely are not good together. Also, a heavy cotton like canva will not go well with a very soft light weight cotton. hope that helps
Just ordered a ruler and my first Eleanor Burns Book. So excited, thanks so much Laura love your tutorials and it gave me the confidence to have a go , happy sewing ✂️✂️✂️😊😊. @justascrappyquilter in Australia ☀️☀️
