I've had historically really bad luck keeping a good quality Next Generation box set. I do have a DVD similar to your Blu-ray. But it's just been really bad luck for me, for over a decade. From poor quality bootlegs, to literal water damage of sets I had at home, Star Trek The Next Generation stands out as one failed moment after another. So when I learned about the Legacy collection, dammit I had to pre-order it. And since I haven't bought much of new Trek, it was a win-win. A rare win-win, since why Star Trek always seemed to get screwed over the thousands of titles I have, it's crazy. It's madness. I don't care how many they actually make, but it does help fill a massive hole in my otherwise great Star Trek collection.
I’d love that. Seemed like the TNG Blu-ray didn’t do as well as they hoped at the time. At this point Id be psyched to get DS9 on Blu-ray. That’s first up on my wishlist.
Why would we want it in 16:9? It was filmed to be aired in 4:3. It is meant to be 4:3. It is not like Enterprise that was filmed to be in 16:9 when the technology was finally ready or readily available. I just don't see the point in changing the format to try and fit it to something it wasn't supposed to be.
It would be like releasing the Mona Lisa in 16:9 - It wasn't made that way, so all you'd be doing is wrecking the composition and losing part of the picture.
Interesting to see this vid only now. Now I had already gotten the 4K Collections of the Original 6 Star Trek Movies as well the 4 TNG Movies in 4k before they announced the Legacy Collection. Me being a perfectionist, I will buy the legacy collection as I have the old TNG seasons on DVD, so getting them on Blu-Ray I'm hoping is a marked improvement. I will probably put the 4K TNG Movie Discs within the Collection, but I won't throw away the Collection Blu-Rays, as for Picard seasons 1-3, I don't like season 1, 2 is worse yet I will watch it because of Q... John de Lancie is just fun to watch, and Season 3 is excellent. However I will buy the season 3 Steelbook just because it look gorgeous. If they do release S3 in 4k, i won't buy it for many years.
Besides the Sisko scenes, "Emissary" also had a Picard scene where he says goodbye to Chief O'Brien. I suspect it isn't included because so far as I know they have never put any DS9 on Blu-ray. Everything else is already done all they have to do is press it and put it in spiffy new packaging. DS9 would require upscaling the episode to Blu-ray quality, a lengthy and costly process which I can't imagine them doing for 3 small scenes, no matter how nice or important they are.
Maybe one day we will get the proper blu-ray upgrade for DS9. There are some good upgrades of individual scenes out there done by fans. They also upgraded select scenes for the DS9 documentary.
Yeah I don't know why anyone would buy the show on Blu-Ray without HDR, makes no sense. Buying something you aren't going to watch because streaming is much higher quality. Waste of money.

What i want to know is when are they going to release next generation in 16:9? if they can as i know its a lengthy process as well as expensive.

There's a huge problem with the Complete Series. It contains contains Seasons 1 and 2. #FYKurtzman #StarTrekLegacy
Dbl Dip and Quadruple Dip!
New Trek sucks except for Picard season 3. I totally agree with you about season 2.

They could have put it in as a special feature in SD
No 4K for films either?? They can’t say they aren’t available!
Sheesh!
They don’t want people remembering DS9 cause people will know Shaw’s hate is lifted from the stories Trek did before! 😂

The pin set is actually a sheet of cut-out rubber magnets.
Very disappointed with that.
Agree Picard seasons 1&2 were awful. Season 3 was what we really wanted after TNG, so great!
Not that excited for any of the Picard seasons. Even S3, was just memberberries.
